- Question about the size: was this taken as a landscape and then the sides cropped later? If so, why not shoot it as a portrait?--Peulle (talk) 15:02, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
- In retrospect, that would've been better, I agree. This was my first ever experience shooting while crawling and being bitten by an enormous cloud of bloodsuckers, so unfortunately, I wasn't fully concentrated on the task :-) СССР (talk) 15:54, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
- Neutral I mean, I'm torn here, because on the one hand it is good, but on the other hand I can't stop thinking about what could have been ... --Peulle (talk) 17:47, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
- Support I guess the light, shape of the flower, angle and everything would have been sort of the same if the photo had been larger. The image quality might even have been worse since it's much harder to handle the camera hand-held in portrait position (especially when crawling). Many times, it's not until we get home and go through the photos on the computer that we realize we have something that might work on FPC, we can surprise ourselves and we work with what we have. The photo is still large enough and in no way smaller than other landscape format photos of flowers that have been cropped to portrait here at FPC. Btw, are there any good cameras where you can just flip a switch to get the orientation you want, without turning the camera, with no loss of size? --Cart (talk) 18:43, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
- That switch would have to turn the image sensor by 90 degrees... so, no... --Martin Falbisoner (talk) 19:07, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
- Or a prism could rotate the optics before hitting the sensor. If there is a camera manufacturer reading this, I want a camera with a 35x35 square sensor and a three-options switch, please. :) --Cart (talk) 19:44, 7 July 2018 (UTC)
