[edit]Description相思樹包埋標本.jpg |
中文(繁體):相思樹(Acacia confusa)包埋標本,臺北市大同區延平次分區玉泉里(大稻埕河溝頭)
English: Timber comes from a wide array of sources. From forests in the mountains to bushes in the plains, all trees that can be logged can serve as sources of timber. However, in urban areas with limited aqricultural production, or in industries such as sugar and tea production that demand in wood was high, people could not supply all the materials needed and had to trade with mountain communities. Thus, wood became a pivotal commodity in the Indigenous-Han trade. In these exchanges, Taiwan Acacia was a species widely utilized among Indigenous communities. Beyond its use as a construction material, it serves as an ideal source of firewood. Additionally, acacia trees could stabilize sand dunes, serve as windbreaks, and enrich the soil, and were extensively planted around tea plantations in northern Taiwan in the late-Qing era. |
