This template is used in the |date= parameter of the {{Information}} template to render the words “according to Exif data” in the language specified in the user's preferences.

The file type is detected with {{File type}}. The categorization can be supressed with parameter cat=no (appropriate when the file is manually moved to any subcategory of the default target category, e.g. a country-specific subcategory).

This template should be used when no |date= value has been set but there is a date in the Exif data. If a |date= value has been set then {{Taken on}} or {{Taken in}} are usually more appropriate.
