#REDIRECT Super League Greece
The Panhellenic Championship was a Greek football competition to determine the nation's champion club, which ran from 1906 to 1912 unofficially and from 1928 to 1959 officially.

In the beginning (1906–1912), it was run by the Hellenic Association of Amateur Athletics (SEGAS) and it was actually a local tournament among clubs from Athens and Piraeus. After the Balkan Wars and World War I, Greece became larger and the first local football clubs associations were founded, namely the Athens-Piraeus FCA (EPSAP) in 1919 - divided into Athens FCA and Piraeus FCA in 1924 - and the Macedonia FCA in 1923. From 1921 to 1927 - with the exception of 1923, when a national play-off took place - only local championships were held, hosted by the above associations.

In 1926, the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) was founded and the first official Panhellenic Championship was held in 1928. In the following years, the competition featured the best teams from the largest football clubs associations (Athens FCA, Piraeus FCA and Macedonia FCA) of Greece and ran until 1959, when it was superseded by Alpha Ethniki. In 1979, Alpha Ethniki - which had been an amateur and semi-amateur competition from its inception - turned professional and in 2006 it was renamed Superleague.
