The East Coast Seafood Centre is a tri-block food centre located in East Coast Park, Singapore, best known for co-locating several major local seafood restaurants, including Jumbo Seafood and Long Beach Seafood Restaurant. The former alone can accommodate up to 1,200 diners, for example. Some signature local dishes are served here, in particular the chilli crab and the black pepper crab.
History
The East Coast Seafood Centre was opened at the same time as the East Coast Park, with eight restaurants serving seafood. Its initial name was known as UDMC Seafood Centre, which was later changed in 2000 to its current name. Local favourites such as chilli crab, black pepper crab and mee goreng can be found there. In 2005, the Seafood Centre was upgraded to give it a modernised look, and better facilities. Many of the features were revamped, and a number of old tenants vacated for new tenants to take their place.
Opened at about the same time as the park by the Housing and Development Board, the government-managed complex currently houses eight seafood restaurants. Originally known as the UDMC Seafood Centre, it took on its current name in the year 2000. In 2005, the centre was physically upgraded, resulting in a change in tenants in some instances.
