Music I like

I've been editing Wikipedia since 23 February 2004. I have been averaging 300-700 edits per week, but that number will drop considerably June 2, 2004, when I start working at a new contract job. Update: As of the end of December 2004, I'm unemployed again--great for my Wikipedia editing and everything else, except my bank account. :/ I made my 15,000th edit 17:04, 7 Feb 2005.

I initially did Recent Changes patrol, but since then have mostly done New Pages patrol, and occasionally Random page patrol. Being an introvert IRL, the pattern continues here--I rarely leave "welcome" messages.

Notability

User:Niteowlneils/2500 Augustine wheelchair ramp is factual, verifiable, and NPOV, meeting the guidelines stated by Jimmy Wales at Wikipedia_talk:Fame_and_importance#No. Still, should it be in the main article space? I'd say no.

Actor/movie lists

User:Niteowlneils/IMDb movies over US$200,000 worldwide--only missing 5 articles!

Note: From http://www.starseeker.com . I've linked the names blindly (mostly search and replace), so, especially with movie and TV series names, check for alternate spellings/forms (EG +/- "A", "The", etc.). Also, please feel free to add any names that are missing.

Browser versions I test with

  • Mozilla 1.4

  • IE 5.5
  • Netscape 7.1

Tutorial

My "sandbox" copies of articles I'm thinking of suggesting adding to the tutorial:

  • a shorter glossary (altho' I think an even shorter one might be better for the basic tutorial, or maybe divide it between fairly simple concepts (EG page, stub), and more complex ones (EG Infobox, Transwiki)--I'm still working on this suggestion.
I got it down to 10 entries, and added a link to it from the wrap-up page of the Tutorial on 4/29/04
  • a page about registration (I think this one's pretty much done--my current inclination would be to put it before the page listing other tutorials (currently page 7)).
I added it to the flow 4/28/04 Niteowlneils 22:09, 29 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Guide

My "sandbox" copies of articles I'm thinking of adding to a new Advanced tutorial, the goal of which I see being giving people that have mastered the basics covered in the tutorial, guidance in writing good Wikipedia-style articles, some info on key backend processes/areas, any shortcuts they can use, and ideas about various ways they can contribute.

Kneejerk "Keep" votes resulted in keeping self admitted prank article

article (02:01, 6 Dec 2004 . . 66.27.88.74 version):

{db|This page is a prank. I am the other one of the persons who started it. Check the IPs. Please. I am the other prankster (again, check the IPs -- they are dinamically generated, but it can be verified that they come from the same source). Another way of verifying that it really is a prank is by asking Gabriel himself (you can get his email from his website), or by noticing that Gabriel isn't actually Basque.}}

  • Keep. One of only two philosophers on the List of Basques, which is not an overloaded list overall by any means. Suggests notability to his Basque home culture above that of your average philosophy professor at an American university. Don't have time to wade through the list's edit history, but the fact that the page as vfded didn't even mention he was Basque rather suggests the link from List of Basques was not link-spamming. (I've just added the Basque bit, if you're looking presently.) Samaritan 08:56, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Keep. I don't believe this is vanity. Also, the article should be updated to reflect his upcoming move to Ohio State, as reported in the Philosophical Gourmet blog run by Brian Leiter. Posiduck 03:36, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
