Thambikottai (transl. Younger Brother's Fort) is a 2011 Indian romantic action comedy film directed by R. Ammu Ramesh and produced by R. K. Suresh. It stars Narain, Meena, and Poonam Bajwa, with Prabhu, Santhanam, Rajendran, and Sangeetha playing supporting roles. The music was composed by D. Imman with cinematography by Karnan. The film released on 11 February 2011.[1] It received mixed reviews upon release.[2]

Synopsis

Azhagiri (Narain) and his sister Shanmugapriya (Meena) are siblings who live only for each other. Azhagiri is a student, and his sister is a lecturer. Saissa (Santhanam) and the crew form his sidekicks, and Valayapatti (M. S. Bhaskar) is their professor who invariable falls quarry to Saissa's unwitting jokes and intentional pranks. Azhagiri goes to Thambikottai on an NSS field trip. There he falls in love with Kanaga (Poonam Bajwa), who is the daughter of Amirthalingam (Rajendran), a rich don of the village. Amirthalingam tries to kill government officers who want to repair a damaged bridge that connects the village with the outside world. The bridge has a connection to Azhagiri, Shanmugapriya, and their dead father Shanmugam (Prabhu).

The film was launched at AVM Studios on 14 December 2009. Prabhu, Mysskin, Jayam Ravi, Mohan Raja, Kalaipuli S. Thanu, and Prasana were present for the function.[5]

The soundtrack was composed by D. Imman. All lyrics written by Viveka.
