Station Fermi during the 2006 Winter Olympics

The Metrotorino is a VAL metro system connecting Turin, Italy with the neighboring city of Collegno. The first phase of the system, known as Linea 1, has 13 stations and links Fermi station in Collegno with Porta Nuova railway station in central Turin. The line was opened on February 4, 2006, just in time for the 2006 Winter Olympics, with the last stretch connecting Porta Susa railway station to Porta Nuova opened on October 5, 2007. The system charges 1 Euro for a single ride and is daily operating from 5:30 a.m. to 22:45 p.m. (Fri. and Sat.: 5:30 a.m. - 1:30 a.m.; Sun.: 8:00 a.m. - 21:00 p.m.).
