This is a much truncated route. When first designated it ran from a junction with the [[A45 road|A45]] southwest of [[Rugby]] to that town (this is now the [[A4071 road|A4071]]) then through [[Clifton upon Dunsmore]] to cross the [[A5 road|A5]] (that stretch was then a 'B' road but is now unclassified) then through [[South Kilworth]] and [[North Kilworth]] (that length is also no longer classified) then [[Husbands Bosworth]], [[Theddingworth]] and [[Lubenham]] to reach its current western limit at Market Harborough. Between North Kilworth and Market Harborough it is now part of the [[A4304 road|A4304]] connecting the latter to the [[M1 motorway]].

The A427 road is a major road in the England Midlands.

It connects Market Harborough and the A6 with Oundle and the A605.

From West to East its route is:

When first designated it ran from a junction with the A45 southwest of Rugby to that town (this is now the A4071) then through Clifton upon Dunsmore to cross the A5 (that stretch was then a 'B' road but is now unclassified) then through South Kilworth and North Kilworth (that length is also no longer classified) then Husbands Bosworth, Theddingworth and Lubenham to reach its current western limit at Market Harborough. Between North Kilworth and Market Harborough it is now part of the A4304 connecting the latter to the M1 motorway.
