There are two forms of vehicle classification in Croatia. Vehicles are classified by categories in the driving license and by categories for toll highways.
Driving license classification
Category | Description |
---|---|
A | Motorcycles with displacement of 126 cm³ or more |
A1 | Motorcycles with displacement of 51 cm³ to 125 cm³ |
B | Cars and vans lighter than 3500 kg and with 9 or less seats |
C | Trucks and other vehicles heavier than 7000 kg with 9 or less seats (riding on flatbed is forbidden in Croatia) |
C1 | Trucks and other vehicles between 3500 kg and 7000 kg in weight with 9 or less seats |
D | Buses, minibuses and other vehicles with 10 or more seats |
F, G | Various motocultivators and similar vehicles |
H | Streetcars |
M | Motorcycles with displacement of 50 cm³ or less |
Toll categories
There are four toll categories for road vehicles using toll bridges and toll highways in Croatia. These categories are accepted by all highway contractors and issued by HUKA.

---|---|
I | Two-axle vehicles with front axle height of 1.30 m (4 ft 3 in) or less, excluding all vans |
II | Three or more axle vehicles with front axle height of 1.30 m (4 ft 3 in) or less, including vans |
III | Two or three-axle vehicles with front axle height of 1.30 m (4 ft 3 in) or more, including all vans with trailers |
IV | Four or more axle vehicles with front axle height of 1.30 m (4 ft 3 in) or more |
