Momsky District (Russian: Момский улу́с; Yakut: Муома улууһа) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion, or ulus), one of the thirty-four in the Sakha Republic, Russia. The area of the district is 104,600 square kilometers (40,400 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Khonuu.[2] District's population: Template:Ru-census2010prelim 4,699 (2002 Census);[7] 5,505 (1989 Soviet census).[8]

The district was created on May 20, 1931.[9] Prior this date it was a part of Verkhoyansky District.

Geography

District's area is 104,600 km². The territory is mostly mountainous. The highest point of the Chersky Range, Mount Pobeda (3147 m), is located in the district. Main river of the district is Indigirka River with tributaries Moma River and Chibagalakh River.
