Charles Alan Smythies (1844–1894) was a colonial bishop in the 19th century.[1]

Smythies was born in Colchester,[2] educated at Trinity College, Cambridge,[3] and ordained in 1869. His first post was a curacy in Great Marlow after which he was Vicar of Roath. He was consecrated Bishop of Nyasaland in St Paul's Cathedral on 30 November 1883 and died on 7 May 1894.[4]
