Mentioned

Hello Night w. Your name has been mentioned at User talk:EdJohnston#List of sovereign states in the 1980s. By the way, if you do intend to involve yourself in a possible-stressful debate on this issue, when you immediately clear all comments by others from your talk page it suggests you are not interested in discussion. An editor has proposed adding your name to the list of those warned under ARBPIA, but I am holding off on certifying that until I see if those involved will negotiate in good faith in the sovereignty dispute. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 14:24, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You're good with sources Night, so if you could provide a few for discussion, that'd be great. CMD (talk) 17:44, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

They were notices, Ed, not comments. Archiving them suggests that I have read them. Nightw 03:08, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. On the map of Azerbaijan should be colored in light green to Nagorno-Karabakh, you can do it? Regards. MauriManya (talk) 21:30, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Do not worry. The map is fine, and I changed it in the article on Azerbaijan. As I saw the consensus is colored in light green the territories where the country has no control, as applied in this case. For Somalia and Somaliland as well, but have reverted my edits in article and have not heard who asked to do the change on the map. You could make the change on the map? Regards. MauriManya (talk) 02:31, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Have reversed my edit the article on Azerbaijan. You could directly modify this map? MauriManya (talk) 18:20, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Shortly before the List of current Indian pretenders page was deleted, following the afd, I saved a copy of it at User:Moonraker/I. I find it interesting and helpful, even though I agreed with some of its opponents that many of the sources were poor and the title was questionable. Please feel free to use it for your own reference and to edit it if it can be improved on. Moonraker (talk) 18:12, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Moonraker. I have a copy of it on file myself, but having a copy on-wiki that I can modify is definitely useful. I haven't had the time to look into the sources just yet, but hopefully will eventually. Nightw 11:33, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Edit to "Pretender" Article

By way of introduction, I am User:Brendan_Oisin, a relative newcomer to Wikipedia (WP). I respectfully request your guidance.

This is intended to initiate suggestion for a change to an article with which I believe you are associated - "Pretender" (and, more specifically, its section of "List of current pretenders"). Within that list, my suggestion pertains to the Ireland sub-section, and the addition of Liam Trant MacCarthy Mór, Prince of Desmond, to the current listing of pretenders to Gaelic-Irish historic monarchies.

Rather than make the direct edit to the article _first_, I have prepared the proposed change on my User Sandbox, where I can also present notes and references to help support the basis for this proposed addition to the list, and to provide a venue for any questions and/or discussion that might be required _before_ such an edit might be accepted or contested.

If this approach is agreeable to you, please see what I propose at User:Brendan_Oisin/sandbox . Please indicate, on my Talk page, whether you feel my proposed edit is acceptable as it is, or what might be required to make it so. Of course, I will be pleased to respond to any questions, or need for further information, you may have. Thank you, in advance, for your courtesy.

Respectfully Yours, Brendan Oisin (talk) 16:29, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

List of World Heritage Sites in Oceania

Hey, you did a fantastic job on List of World Heritage Sites in Oceania! You ought to consider nominating it to become a WP:Featured list, similar to List of World Heritage Sites in Africa. The lead section could be expanded a little, but this is an excellent candidate to become an FL! Reywas92Talk 16:39, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the delayed response. I would say you could talk about the biggest site, smallest site, most recently inscribed site, and a sumamry of locations. It already says the number of cultural, natural, and mixed, sites, but you could also mention that many represent whole islands, while others are oceanic sites, that three represent buildings and others are also designated as national parks or similar by their countries. There may be some other tweaks necessary, but I see no reason why this shouldn't be featured. Reywas92Talk 21:16, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, thank you Outback! I'm afraid I haven't been editing much lately at all.. I decided last year to take the year off because of real-life stuff. I'm sort of back now, but not yet back up to the level I was before. It's great to see you and all the other old names still around! Nightw 12:42, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Would appreciate your input: World Heritage lists

Hi Night w,

I noticed that you are one of the active people on the World Heritage lists. As you may have noticed I started a discussion at the WikiProject talk page a while ago about adopting a different structure for the lists. The templated structure would allow to build upon the pages more effectively with external tools. I hope that you would be willing to give some feedback on the design and implications. You can find a sample page on My Sandbox and you will find the appropriate discussion on the talk page of the template. I look forward to your input!

Kind regards, effeietsanders 18:37, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

List of Sovereign Monarchs-the name of the Belgian Royal Family-link; evidence etc.

Greetings, Nightw. I hope you are well.

As regards the changing of the name of the Belgian Royal House; I found the following to corroborate it (you may have to scroll down to see it):

Removal of content

Hi, regarding your revert[1] on the article State of Palestine.

Unknowingly you have reverted more than a dozen edits, which included several sourced statements. The topic of discussion was an unrelated almost month old edit[2](POV section beforehand), which I recently summed up again here[3]. The currently reverted material is not part of edit warring(at least on part) but tendentious editing on part of Japinderum. In fact instead of reporting Japinderum violation of WP:1RR, with blanket edit and later reverts, I have tried to reason with him, explaining him the rational behind my edits [4]. However there is a limit to what we can endure.

If you wish to raise objection to recent added sourced material, please do so on the talk page, I would appreciate someone more focused to discuss it with. Thanks.--Mor2 (talk) 04:35, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like "Japinderum" is arguing that the phrasing you use portrays the Montevideo Convention as the defining criteria of statehood while ignoring others. The Montevideo criteria has no legal standing in international law, it was just an attempt at codifying one of two widely used theories. None of this has anything to do with Palestine. All that needs to be mentioned is that the UN membership is only available to sovereign states and that a debate exists as to whether Palestine is a sovereign state. Nightw 07:05, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Its not my phrasing, its the initial variant copy/pasted from Member states of the United Nations. I have no problem with making adjustments to that sentence. I too think that the 'Montevideo Convention' part is unnecessary and that the various views on statehood better expressed in the sovereign states article. The issue here is that operative word is "adjustment" something that he/you/anyone can do with a simple edit summary, not a section wide revert.
Would you mind if I re-post your comment on the Talk:State_of_Palestine#Revert, maybe it will help "Japinderum" to formulate his other arguments? cheers--Mor2 (talk) 07:57, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, go ahead. Nightw 07:59, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
