The Airport Fire is an active wildfire in Orange County in Southern California. As of 9 September 2024[update], the fire has burned 5,432 acres (21.98 km2) and is 0 percent contained.[1]
Progression
The fire began around 1:00pm in the Trabuco Canyon near the Trabuco Flyers Club, a radio-remote controlled aviation club the fire was named for. The cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, although several news agencies are reporting it began as a result of heavy equipment use by an Orange County public works crew.[1]
Effects
On September 9th, evacuations were ordered for neighborhoods in Rancho Santa Margarita and evacuation warnings were put in place for neighborhoods in the Temescal Valley.[2][3]
