Charles R. Bush III (born July 1, 1961 in Louisiana) is a filmmaker primarily know for co-starring next to Kevin Costner in the 1985 film Fandango .
Background
Charles R. Bush was born in New Orleans, however "Chuck" grew up in the nearby hamlet of Houma, Louisiana. In 1982 Chuck Bush moved to Austin, Texas and started his career in a unlikely place, at a 7-11 store. On April 3, 1983, Bush, at the age of 21, entered a 7-11 store at the same moment Kevin Reynolds was exiting. Reynolds was in Austin to begin principal photography on his film Fandango, and Bush resembled a character that Reynolds had been unsuccessful in casting. The two men spoke briefly and Bush was asked to audition the next morning. The rest is history. Reynolds cast Chuck Bush as the boorish "Dorman", a John Belushi-type slob that rounded out a cast that included screen greats Kevin Costner and Judd Nelson.
Recent Work
Bush has since found success as producer, writer and director of several family films and television projects. In 1990, Chuck moved back to Louisiana. Chuck married his wife, Angela Brown Bush, on October 5, 1996.
In 2001, he worked with the Louisiana Legislature to create some of the most aggressive tax incentives for film and television production in the United States. That incentive program has made Louisiana the third largest entertainment economy in America. He has consulted with the state of Mississippi on their recent tax incentives and is now trying to help Alabama with theirs. Chuck is still an active film producer.
