Speedy deletion of Bella Bergman

A tag has been placed on Bella Bergman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Invercargill population

Please don't change the population figure without giving a reliable source. The existing source is the 2006 Census, which is almost certainly the best source to use.-gadfium 22:34, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Australian State Netball League

Hey - it's great to see some new stuff being added to netball articles. We always need more editors doing this.

With Australian State Netball League, though - would you be able to add some sources for that article? I can't find anything about it in Google, and I'm curious to know more. Rebecca (talk) 07:55, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

April 2008

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Megan Hutton, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. This article may be considered for deletion as it does not currently meet Wikipedia's notability for living persons criteria. (EhJJ)TALK 19:43, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Netballer profiles

Hi there, It's great to see the creation of new articles on Netball. However, the manner in which you are starting the articles leaves them vulnerable to deletion. Remember that Netball is an unknown sport to many editors of Wikipedia, therefore they are much quicker to tag an article for deletion on the basis of lack of notability when the article isn't backed up by references. No doubt you have sources available when you create articles, therefore it should be simple for you to include the references. The best means of referencing is inline citation - see WP:CITE and Template:Cite web. I think that it is time Netball had its own WikiProject like most other professional sports. As soon as I figure out how, I might start one. Cheers, dramatic (talk) 22:57, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Robyn Broughtan

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Robyn Broughtan, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Triwbe (talk) 15:11, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

References needed for Kate Ritchie (Netballer)

Your recent contribution(s) to the Wikipedia article Kate Ritchie (Netballer) are very much appreciated. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at How to cite sources. Thanks! • Gene93k (talk) 14:23, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect of Jai Aka Jordan

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Jai Aka Jordan, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Jai Aka Jordan is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Jai Aka Jordan, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Alex0274! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 5 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 690 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Moónia Gerrard.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 04:05, 25 July 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. mono 04:05, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How to redirect

Hi,

If you want to point one article title at another article, please do not make it a one line link as you did at 2008 ANZ Championship Transfer Season. Wikipedia has a proper redirection mechanism for such cases. Simply put #REDIRECT [[2008 ANZ Championship Transfer Period]] as the sole target of the page.

Furthermore, I see that you started the new page by copying and pasting all the content of the old page there. Wikipedia also has a mechanism for this, called MOVE. You may or may not have move rights - if you do it should appear on the page actions menu, usually between history and watch or on a dropdown (depending on what skin you have used). It is essentital that MOVE is used rather than cut and paste, because what you have done has breached Wikipedia's license, as the history of contributions prior to the move is not displayed. I shall have to ask an administrator to rectify this, as it will require temporary deletion of the new page.

Lastly, our article naming conventions state that only the first word and proper nouns are capitalised in titles. Hence transfer period, not Transfer Period.

And don't worry - we all had to learn the hard way! dramatic (talk) 05:46, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is important. Read it.

I can see no evidence that you have ever uploaded an image in line with Wikipedia's image use policy. It doesn't seem like you've read this policy, or even the messages on the upload form when you upload the images. Either you need to read and understand them, and to ask if you are uncertain, or you need to stop uploading images. If you continue to upload images without making any effort to follow policy you will end up being blocked from editing. Angus McLellan (Talk) 23:21, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to upload media files lacking copyright information,as you did with File:Donna Wilkinsnetball.jpg, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you are unsure of the correct copyright template, please refer to the list of image copyright tags or ask at the copyright question page. Thanks for replying. I'm still not thinking that you understand the problem. Most/all of the images you upload come from other websites. The last one to be deleted you had no license for it - every image needs a license - and the only thing it said was http://www.zimbio.com/Donna+Wilkins. If we go and look there, sure the image is at the top of the page. But the caption underneath says "Source: Getty Images". If you were going to upload that and not have it deleted immediately, you'd need to include the same information. Every image needs a license and a source and who made it. (As it happens, that one would still be deleted, we wouldn't use a "non-free" picture to show someone who is still alive under most circumstances, but not as quickly.) If you read the upload form, it should explain every step. If you aren't seeing a form that starts by asking What kind of image or multimedia (audio or video) file is it? something is wrong and you should click in the "toolbox" section of the page, on the "upload file" link, to get a normal upload form. If you follow the instructions carefully you should have no more problems. If you try to upload "an image from a website", as you have been doing, you will get a message that tells you "The vast majority of images on the internet are not appropriate for Wikipedia". Until you understand the process, it is probably best to limit your uploads to photographs that you yourself have taken. Those still need a license though! If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Four (TV Channel) NZ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. --cocomonkilla (talk) (contrib) 20:57, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Four (TV Channel) NZ

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Four (TV Channel) NZ. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - C4 (TV channel). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at C4 (TV channel) - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Adabow (talk · contribs) 22:29, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
