Stephanie Kaplan (born December 5, 1988) is a co-founder, chief executive officer, and editor-in-chief of Her Campus, an online magazine targeted toward American college women. In 2010, Kaplan obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in economics from Harvard University, where Her Campus was founded. At Harvard, Kaplan served as the editor-in-chief of Freeze, Harvard College's lifestyle and fashion online magazine. [1]

Her Campus

Kaplan met fellow Harvard undergraduates Windsor Hanger and Annie Wang in fall 2007, working on the staff of Freeze magazine. In January 2009, Kaplan, Hanger, and Wang entered Harvard's i3 Innovation Challenge business plan competition with their idea for Her Campus, which proposed a national online magazine for college women, with individualized branches at colleges and universities across the United States. Their business plan and proposal received the Harvard Student Agencies Investment Award as a winner in the i3 Innovation Challenge in March 2009.[citation needed]

Kaplan serves as CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Her Campus, which launched in September 2009. Kaplan oversees content and expansion of the magazine to college branches. Kaplan has formed content partnerships with ''Seventeen magazine and The Huffington Post'." These partnerships allow Her Campus writers to share their articles with Seventeen and The Huffington Post. Since 2009, Her Campus has expanded to include a membership of over 800 individuals with branches at over 100 college campuses.[2] [3]

Awards

Kaplan was named to Inc. magazine's "30 Under 30 Coolest Young Entrepreneurs" for 2010,[4] Glamour magazine's "20 Amazing Young Women",[5] and The Boston Globe's "25 Most Stylish Bostonians for 2010".[6]
