Appearance
Š is the 25th letter of the Croatian and Serbian and 20th letter of the Slovenian alphabet. It is formed by addition of an caron to the standard S letter used in most alphabets based on Latin script and it is pronounced (IPA) [[Voiceless postalveolar fricative|/ʃ/]]. Like its Latin counterpart, the Cyrillic alphabet has a specific symbol: Ш.
This letter is also used in Estonian language, Lithuanian language, Latvian language, Czech language, Slovak language and Slovenian language. In Slovak, it is pronounced (IPA) [[Voiceless retroflex fricative|/ʂ/]]. In Estonian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Slovenian and Czech, it is pronounced (IPA) [[Voiceless postalveolar fricative|/ʃ/]].
