Emu, subtitled Austral Ornithology, is the peer-reviewed scientific journal of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union (RAOU). The journal was established in 1901 and is the oldest ornithological journal published in Australia.[1] The current editor-in-chief is Kate Buchanan (Deakin University). The journal is published quarterly for the RAOU in print and online by CSIRO Publishing.

Emu - Austral Ornithology has a 2010 impact factor of 1.191 and is now ranked 6 of 19 journals in the Ornithology category of Thomson Reuters Institute for Scientific Information. It is the premier journal for ornithological research and reviews related to the Southern Hemisphere and adjacent tropics.
