Nickname
The citation for the nickname lists both "The Walkie Talkie" and "The Pint", yet this second name was not in the article. When I added it, it was removed. Why? 85.159.85.2 (talk) 10:30, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- Two years ago, someone may have said it resembles a "Pint", but I am based near the building and have never, not even once, heard it be referred to as that. It is known almost universally as "the Walkie-Talkie" in both common usage and the press. --TBM10 (talk) 12:35, 11 July 2013 (UTC)
- So we should ignore the cited newspaper article in favour of your opinion? 85.159.85.2 (talk) 07:52, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- It's not my opinion, it's fact. There are a hundred other citations we could use which universally and exclusively refer to it as the Walkie-Talkie. --TBM10 (talk) 12:45, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- If anyone is calling it "The Pint", and the FT article does, then it is not "universally and exclusively" known as the walkie talkie so that is not a fact, it is an opinion. 85.159.85.2 (talk) 12:54, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Artist's impression
Is there any reason I shouldn't upload this onto the main article? Everyone wants to know what it'll look like and they shouldn't have to google it. http://londonist.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/wtmain.jpg --RatnimSnave (talk) 16:21, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
Height dilemma
Is that 180 metres? [1]
Sun Reflection
There have been reports of the building reflecting and focusing sunlight onto cars and other things so intensely that they melt http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-23930675 and http://news.uk.msn.com/trending-blog/skyscraper-walkie-talkie-heat-ray-strikes-again/
I'm not familiar with the rules and conventions of editing wikipedia articles, would someone who is be willing to update the article to include mention of this?

- It has been already. --TBM10 (talk) 12:38, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
RFC: Fryscraper
|
Outside of architectural circles, this tower only made international news under "Fryscraper" so this is not "undue", it is what it is notable for internationally (ie. outside of UK). Therefore "Fryscraper" should exist (be mentioned) in this article. -- 70.24.244.158 (talk) 02:37, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
'Fryscraper' has been used in headlines worldwide, eg:
- London’s Walkie-Talkie ‘Fryscraper’ Draws Crowds in Heat Bloomberg
- Architect Behind London's 'Fryscraper' Blames Outside Consultants For Building's Car-Melting Deathray Business Insider
- Glare from ‘fryscraper’ melting cars in London Times of India
- Glare from London 'fryscraper' becomes an attraction USA Today
- London's "fryscraper" melts cars CBS News (video)
- London ‘fryscraper’ glare melts cars Japan Times
Should be reinserted. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 02:57, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- I would say appropriate to mention in the section on sun reflection along with "walkie scorchie", but not in the lead. Only time will tell which name stick and are used by the public at large.--User:Salix alba (talk): 08:39, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- Agree with Salix. --TBM10 (talk) 21:07, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
