Inherited from Proto-Slavic *ľubiti, from Proto-Indo-European *lewbʰ-, whence English love, Sanskrit लुभ्यति (lubhyati, to desire), Sanskrit लोभयति (lobhayati, to make crazy) and Latin libet.
