Board Governance Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation
"The greatest risks are never the ones you can see and measure, but the ones you can’t see and therefore can never measure. The ones that seem so far outside the boundary of normal probability that you can’t imagine they could happen in your lifetime—even though, of course, they do happen, more often than you care to realize." ― Charles Wheelan

About me

My volunteer account is User:KCVelaga. I have been involved with the Wikimedia movement since 2014, and spent most of my initial years on English Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, followed by Wikidata. I actively organize outreach in India, and currently spend majority of my time with Wiki Loves Monuments, Indic MediaWiki Developers User Group and contributing to Wikimedia Commons.

My work

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees is in the process of improving their governances process, including changing of by-laws. Broadly, my role is to "facilitate" the process by helping communities to actively participate in the consultation, and also making sure that community's feedback/opinion is relayed to the Board. It is a participatory design approach. My region of focus is South Asia, however, I may be engaging with other multilingual groups/projects, if required.

Disclaimer: I work for or provide services to the Wikimedia Foundation, and this is the account I try to use for edits or statements I make in that role. However, the Foundation does not vet all my activity, so edits, statements, or other contributions made by this account may not reflect the views of the Foundation.
