This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback, global sysop, global rename, …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.
This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.
Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).
Please note that Global rollbackers discussions are not votes. Comments must present specific points in favor of or against a user's approval.
Instructions for making a request
Before requesting, make sure that:
You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag
To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request

|user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions, no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.
Hello! I am a former global rollbacker (had my access removed due to prolonged inactivity), and wikidata admin. I am currently active again in cross-wiki counter-vandalism and would like to apply to be given global rollback access again. Although not strictly required by the policy I have enabled 2FA. I am familiar with the global rollback policy and the local policies on using global rights, where applicable. --KonstantinaG07 (talk) 17:00, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.
When you give someone global rename rights, please add them to the list of global renamers and ask them to subscribe to the global renamers' mailing list.

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.
PurpleBuffalo appears to be an experienced hewiki user, admin & CU. I don't see a convincing reason why we would expect much crosswiki activity / global work when applying for this role with so much local experience. Johannnes89 (talk) 11:57, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
per above, I am now convinced that global activity is not really relevant for GRN, so I don't see any other objections. As a result, I can only Support this request. Sorry for my "requirements" mentioned above, which were clearly out of place here and too high. Sorry for that, --TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 18:07, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support. This is not a GR that requires activity in many project. PurpleBuffalo is familiar with name change conventions and assists in consultation regarding suspects requesting name changes. ~ · מקף Hyphen ෴ · 11:50, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support Per Hyphen above. If they are active in the area locally and want to assist with global renames, why not?--BRP ever12:14, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support - I don't think I've ever seen "sysop (temporary), checkuser" in someone's CA before, that's an interesting permissions setup haha. But user can be trusted with these permissions, no concerns with lack of xwiki experience for this right. – Ajraddatz (talk) 13:19, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferien, @EPIC is correct. There's no connection between CU permissions and Adminship there. Admins are elected for three years and have to be reelected to renew the permission, while CUs are elected with no specified term. An admin can run for CU, and a CU can run for admin. However, a CU cannot be a bureaucrat, and vice versa. PurpleBuffalo (talk) 18:46, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support Very confused by the oppose by TenWhile6 above. Cross-wiki activity is completely irrelevant to global renamer – the impact your actions have is technically global, but you don't need cross-wiki experience to move pages. This is a trusted sysop on hewiki who would like to go into renaming, I see no issue here. --Ferien (talk) 18:26, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The only question is what actions specifically are intended to be performed for the global community mentioned in the nomination, but I hope they will be careful when (requested to be) responding to requests related to languages they do not speak/understand. ~~~~ User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)19:03, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferien I see that it was a bit confusing here, I just thought a global rename with global consequences needs a bit more crosswiki experience. Although I can understand what you mean, after some reconsideration I struck my vote and changed it. TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 19:22, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support Cross-wiki experience is something that should be sought for Global Rollback. Renaming requires a different experience. Language, and local experience is perfectly okay. Trust is there since they are an admin and a CU on a wiki. ─ Aafī(talk)17:11, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions. Please review Global IP block exemption. You may request Global IP block exemption via stewardswikimedia.org if you can not edit this page.
Please note: Global IP block exemption does NOT make one immune to locally-created blocks of any sort, only global blocks.
If you want to edit the Chinese Wikipedia, usually global IP block exemptions will not help you. Please see this instruction to request a local IP block exemption.

The request will be approved if there is demonstrated need for the permission, such as bypassing a global block from someone who is not the intended target.
I have to use a proxy due to local policy, and I hope to be unblocked. I need to add cross-language links to newly created articles and submit my own images to Wikimedia.Thank you so much --Uyiliu2 (talk) 08:37, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The policy here refers to the policy of mainland China. I need to use a proxy to access and edit Wikimedia sites, but my IP is often blocked. Therefore, I hope to be granted GIPBE to avoid being affected. Thanks!--Uyiliu2 (talk) 05:56, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I applied for local IP exemption for the Chinese Wiki and English Wiki. I am from mainland China and had to use a proxy. Therefore, I was banned from all IP addresses. Then I was unable to use Wikimedia Foundation projects such as Wikidata normally. For example, I could not edit interlanguage links.--Uyiliu2 (talk) 10:14, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, good. If you applied for local IPBE on zhwiki & enwiki, you don't need Global IPBE anymore, right? Than you can withdraw this request. --TenWhile6 (talk | SWMT) 10:18, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’m afraid I cannot. I wish to use Wikimedia data and Wikimedia Commons normally, such as editing interlanguage links and uploading images to Wikimedia Commons. However, I am currently prohibited from doing so. Other than applying for GIPBE, do you have any other recommendations?If there is a better method, I would be very eager to try it.--Uyiliu2 (talk) 05:37, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I didn’t explain clearly before.To give a brief summary, I am from mainland China.I need to use a proxy to access and edit Wikimedia sites, but my IP is blocked. Therefore, I hope to be granted GIPBE to avoid being affected. Thanks!--Uyiliu2 (talk) 10:19, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Since the user has successfully obtained local IPBEs in his main wikis and intents to edit in other wikis, I have no problems with them also having a global flag, Uyiliu2, just mind that you might stumble upon need to request further local flags as GIPBE only works for global IP blocks and you may face some local ones. --Base (talk) 01:44, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
