2.5 stars rounding up to 3.

I think the lower rating was more me so one day I'll re-read this and find out.

I did enjoy how they worked The Wizard Of Oz into this though.

A brilliant series - but i don't agree with the 9plus age rating as some of it is genuinely violent/scary/creepy. i'd only be allowing maybe 12 year olds who are not easily spooked.

3.7 probably would have given it a 4 but the last 100 pages or so the book really got less interesting and repetitive with all the bird chasing. I thought it was quite exciting and lots of twists and turns up until that point and then I felt like I was reading the same chapters over and over again

The part of the book I did enjoy was it was like a very gory goosebumps and for a children’s book was really quite scary.
The derogatory term ‘midget’ used towards the end was irrelevant and disappointing to see used in a book for younger audiences.
