A companion book [2.5 for me] to the author's previous picture book, My Little Brave Girl, this one focuses on her son and all the dreams she has for him. While it discusses some of the boy's characteristics and personal attributes, it also contains advice and suggestions for how to learn from mistakes and channel one's energy. Many parents will surely relate to the author's hopes that her child will learn to be kind and how to do the right thing or make the right choices, and perhaps sharing this book with a child will serve as a reminder of that as well as one urging him to pay attention to all the world's wonders. I'm sure it will be a best-seller since so many parents search for books with this sort of message, but for me, it covered familiar territory. The artwork, created with gouache, colored pencil, and with digital tools, consists of spot illustrations and plentiful double-page spreads, all filled with smiling faces and scenes of adventure. Perhaps most importantly of all, the text points out that all sorts of feelings matter, perhaps in hope that some of them won't be suppressed.

It is a story written by a mom for her child that gives her son motivation, strength, support, guidance, and love. The illustrations are beautiful with bright colors and go perfectly with the words. A mother wants the best for her child and hopes they can learn from their mistakes and those who surround them. This book can inspire children to believe in themselves and grow to be adults who will be role models for others.

A list of wishes from a mother raising her son to be brave & strong & resilient & emotionally mature.

I would like to see more books like this for young boys about the softer side of life. It’s a great way to show young readers the ups and downs of growing up, while staying true to who they are at heart.

I was hoping for more from this book. It is sweet that she wishes good things for her child but it was awkward in a children's book. If she wasn't already famous I dont think this boik would have been published.

Warm wishes from a mother to her son. Nicely written and illustrated. Good to see a celebrity who knows how to write.
