“It’s okay. I was scared too. It’s all right to admit it. But what we cannot do is allow that fear to fuel us. To drive our thoughts and decisions. To dwell upon it. We must stand in the face of that fear and carry on.”

Oh, yes, this series continues to make my heart race and rankle my nerves with every turn it takes.

I like the themes and ideas that are being explored, I think they really encompass what needs to be done for the overall plot of this chronicle, but I don't like the execution of said themes because I cannot see them ending in anything but doom.

Now, with everything going on, it's starting to feel like we are nearing the end and that is not a comforting feeling.

Just as with the previous issues, having Ty breaking the pace of the story every so often is really distracting and not something I appreciate much; which is sad, because I love her character a lot.

“We’ve learned something else, too. That no matter how much pain it suffers its sheer hunger will override any concerns for its own wellbeing. Which makes it even more dangerous than we thought. Perhaps more dangerous than anything the Jedi Order has ever encountered before.”

“Does it matter? It doesn’t change anything, and it doesn’t mean we don’t help them. We’re Jedi.”

Rok and Coron have been targeted by the Nameless. As they make their way back to safety, they run into members of the Path of the Open Hand.

This series is just so much fun. This issue was a wonderful mix of Jedi philosophy moments (regarding fear, altruism, compassion etc.), creepy Nameless stuff, conflict between the Path and the Jedi, and humor, mostly provided by Pako, who is a really funny supporting character, and Ty, the narrator of the comic, and her droid companion Klo.

I love how this series is a story Ty Yorrick tells over a hundred years later to her companion while on a mission - first of all, it's just cool to see more Ty cause she is awesome, but it also makes this story feel like a myth, like a bedtime story. I think this is a cool narrative decision as well as a nice way to give THR fans a glimpse into phase 1 era as we wait for phase 3 to kick off.

This issue dealt a lot with fear and how a Jedi is supposed to deal with it. Coron is shaken by the Nameless, and his first reaction is to be a bit embarrassed about being scared and apologise for it, and I love that Rok immediately shut all that down and explained to him that fear is nothing to be ashamed or scared of, but a natural reaction. It becomes an issue when you let it control you. And as the Jedi come into contact with members of the Path, there are naturally some discussions on faith and differing Force beliefs, as well as what we owe - if anything - to people who disagree with us on fundamental levels.

The ending of this issue was super cool and I cannot wait for issue 4!

The plan for escape is put into action, but the Nameless Terror has other ideas as it gets inside the ship.

The eggs beginning to crack set up suspense!

The art by Eduardo Mello continues to be a high point of the series.

Loved this, more blanks filled in, exciting and sad and everything I expect from the High Republic.
