To begin with, I was given this book from my mom. She had won it from the Goodreads First Reads and thoroughly enjoyed it. I began reading this format (paperback) but found I too was really enjoying the story so I purchased the Kindle eBook format and continued on my ereader. I am leaving a review for both formats.

A journey I thoroughly enjoyed! There is something for nearly everyone. Adventure, suspense, awesome as well as scarey creatures, unlikely friendships, betrayals, a wee bit of romance or rather flirtations, a journey which takes you through all of these and more. You'll find orcnes, elves, ghosts, trolls and centaurs just to name a few. There is the age old struggle, good vs. evil with many battles that hold your eyes to the pages wishing you could read faster. It's a grand world with much diversity to discover following along with Qualtan and Glaive.
There is a tiny bit of cussing, although, I think the author could have come up with different words to use that are more fitting to the type of medieval mythical world this is. Otherwise, there is no real vulgarity, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this story to YA readers. This is a long book (in page #) but did not seem so. I found I was reading far quicker and longer than I usually am able to. In other words, I would stop reading only because my poor eyes began to blur. A fun read.

Author Hugo Negron tells the story of Qualtan, a young warrior who is determined to become a knight. Along with his friend Glaive, Qualtan ventures through a hectic world filled with traps and villains. As he continues his journey, the young warrior learns that everything isn’t always as it seems and one must be constantly on their guard. Eventually, Qualtan starts to question his friendship and wonders if Glaive, a thief, might prevent him from accomplishing his dream.

This book is well-written and contains numerous characters that add their own touch to the story. Negron has a great descriptive style that will make it seem as if you’re experiencing the events firsthand.

While some areas move a bit fast, it’s an easy read and one that will be hard to put down. At 382 pages, it could take some time to read, but if you enjoy epic fantasy novels, it’s well worth the time investment.

I must admit that the prologue was a bit long and not a catchy one, compared with the exciting story coming next.
I highly recommend for fans of sorcery fantasy and brave warriors of all ages. There are originals lands and creatures described in a spectacular and convincing way. The characters have powerful personalities created by the exquisite taste of Negron.
I felt identified with Qualtan desire; he wants to hold and continue his father legacy with all his heart and strength. That is truly inspiring.
What I enjoyed most is that also contains deep philosophy thoughts, in particular declare: “A just King today can become the cruel tyrant of tomorrow. Personal evolutions are ever fraught with peril for those that grow used to holding power.”

An unputdownable novel.
This amazing story begins to invite any reader into this magical world. “Forging of a Knight” is the first novel in a series written by Hugo V. Negron. I found this one very captivating and engaging. I dare say that it led me understand the knighthood´s world. What I liked the most about this book is that there is a fearless and courageous protagonist who is willing to do anything to make things better in his world.
It is an action-packed novel with very descriptive scenes that let my imagination flow to those unique places. Thanks to the author´s writing style, I could travel through the whole story. All in all, it is an amazing book down to the last page. So, I highly recommend it.

This story is one of a kind! I started reading it last weekend and I have already finished it! The plot is
a thrilling trip to the unexpected.
What I loved the most about this tale is the fact that the author has been able to depict characters that even though they are fictional, they seem to be real and part of real life. The main protagonist, Qualtran, has been delightfully crafted and he fulfills an outstanding role in the story.
Written in a dialogue-based form, Forging of a Knight has everything a good Fantasy book needs to have: suspense, mystery, and a lot of action which pulled me in the story right away. Every chapter is more hooking than the last one, no wonder why I have read it in a week!

The writer excels at the narration and building of fantastic worlds and events. The explanations and descriptions of sceneries are very well done, and the characters are likeable and interesting. The plot is very well written and developed and it presents a mixture of myth and fantasy that immediately caught my attention.
Although it is a book for children and adolescents, I really enjoyed it and I strongly recommend it.

What a read! This story was really entertaining. I read it in a couple of sittings and when I finished it I was eager to continue reading book two in the series.
I really liked how the author built the characters and also the setting. Moreover his writing style made me feel inside the story; I felt immersed in the reading more than once. The plot is very good and entertaining; there was not a dull part or moment. I always wanted to know what would happen next.
There are plenty of dialogues but also of narrative so it was a good balance between telling and showing. I would certainly recommend reading this novel!

Author Hugo Negron, an avid fan of myths and fantasy, has amazed me with this captivating science-fiction story. Filled with wonderfully detailed descriptions. ‘ Forging of a Knight’ is a great story that combines adventure, mystery, suspense and action.

Qualtan, the main character, becomes involved in a perilous journey to become a knight. I really enjoyed Qualtan’s adventure and battles with many creatures that belong to the medieval mythical world. Qualtan as well as the other characters are really well depicted
and full of life; so are the battles and the lands of this fantasy world that I immediately became absorbed in. I strongly recommend giving this captivating tale a try.

I found this epic-fiction novel to have a very captivating plot, the characters involved also bring up the storyline even more. The book has a main character, Qualtain, that in order to be king, he is willing to face whatever consequences he has to and also help bring good into his world.

The author Hugo V Negron, managed very well the ups and downs in the story making it very attractive to the reader. That being said, I’m looking forward to read part two of this series.

To sum up, I think it is a pretty good novel to help us all leave behind, for a moment, all the craziness happening nowadays.

This is the first book I read this year and I couldn’t be happier. It was definitely a great choice! This futuristic novel has many interesting and well-developed characters, especially Qualton, who wants to follow the legacy of his father and become a heroic knight.
I think the author did a great job with the plot which was strong and fascinating, and that is why although it's a long read, I found myself immersed in the story and being unable to put it down.
This is a book that I recommend reading because it is an extraordinary story and I hope Hugo Negron comes up with a new book very soon!

I thoroughly enjoyed Forging of a Knight, though it did take me a little bit of time to truly get into the story.

The story follows Qualton, a man wishing to follow in the footsteps of his father as a heroic knight. His father had fallen in the war against Those That Stand in Shadow, leaving Qualton with only his magic sword and his legacy. Along the way, Qualton meets up with a half-orc named Glaive(the interactions between the two are brilliantly crafted throughout the book) and faces unimaginable dangers and terrors in his quest for knighthood.

I had some trouble getting into the prologue at first. The beginning suffers from being bogged down with detail. It didn't take long for the action to pick up, though, and pull me into the story. Qualton's journey is bookended by hints of a more epic tale to be told, and I hope that Hugo Negron plans on delving into that tale.

You can tell that a lot of thought and effort has gone into developing Forging of a Knight's. The lands, and the creatures that inhabit them, are full of life, bringing a sense of realism to a fantasy world. Qualton and Glaive are incredibly well developed, and I love how the two end up helping each other grow throughout the story.

If you are a fan of swords and sorcery fantasy, somewhat in the vein of Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms, this is definitely worth checking out whether you're a young adult, or even an adult like me.
