A charming end to endearing characters

Since I pointed out the inconsistencies in the first book, I won’t do that again for the second book. Although it is worth noting that the inconsistencies were few and far between for this book. Which was great.

Again, the characters are still likable and I enjoyed the fact that even after Igor proved himself, all wasn’t magically fixed and not everyone became a fan. Realistic. Which was good.

I would have liked to have known what became of Aria’s father and step father (they deserve to suffer, honestly). I did feel cheated that Hanser’s wife also was absent from the punishment she deserves. Which brings me to one of the inconsistencies. In book 1, Igor stated that he took a while to return with Aria because he “took care” of Hanser’s wife and kids. In this book, Hanser pleads with Igor to think of his wife and kids. That was frustrating, because it’s like, “please read your writing so you are aware of what is happening in the story, author.” There were more, but like I said, I won’t make that the focus of this review.

Besides that, I liked the characters. It did sometimes drag, not gonna lie. Towards the last act, I started speed reading through to just get to the end. It felt like too much and nothing was happening at the same time. I got bored towards the end and just wanted everything to wrap up. If I NEVER read, “I have to do this for my family.” again, it will be too soon. We get Dominic Torretto- F A M I L Y.

Overall, a nice little wrap up for our MCs and I’m almost certain we will be seeing more of Zod, Hannah, Faz, Luna and some of the other cousins in upcoming stories.

A satisfying Conclusion.

We got a lot of answers to questions we had from the first book and this one, and we tied up some loose ends as well.

This was just as entertaining as the first book. We meet a host of new characters and learn about the Orc world.

I was a little disappointed that we didn’t have more growth for Aria the way we did for Igor.

One thing I did kind of have a gripe about was Todo and Azula. In the beginning I thought they were going to be thorns in our main couple’s sides and they would eventually get their comeuppance, but they don’t. They kind of just disappear.

Overall, a satisfying wrap up to this story. I wouldn’t mind revisiting this world to see a Zod and Hannah story or a Luna and Faz story.

The Orc Queen book two is a 2-star book that delves into the world of orcs and their culture. This book is a continuation of the previous installment, offering a further exploration of the orc society and its dynamics. However, despite its potential, the book falls short in several aspects.

One of the main drawbacks of The Orc Queen book two is its lack of character development. The characters remain one-dimensional and fail to evolve throughout the story. This leaves the reader feeling disconnected and uninvested in their fates. Additionally, the dialogue feels stilted and unnatural, further hindering the reader's ability to connect with the characters.

Another issue with this book is its pacing. The story progresses at a slow and uneven pace, making it difficult to stay engaged. The narrative lacks a sense of urgency and fails to build tension effectively. As a result, the plot feels stagnant and fails to deliver the excitement and anticipation that one would expect from a fantasy novel.

Furthermore, the world-building in The Orc Queen book two is lacking. While the first book laid a foundation for an intriguing orc society, this installment fails to expand upon it significantly. The reader is left with unanswered questions and an incomplete understanding of the orc culture and its complexities.

In terms of writing style, the prose is functional but lacks depth and creativity. The descriptions are often repetitive and fail to evoke a sense of vivid imagery. This hampers the reader's ability to fully immerse themselves in the story and limits the overall reading experience.

Despite its flaws, The Orc Queen book two does have some redeeming qualities. The concept of an orc queen and her rule over her people is an interesting one, and there are moments of potential in the narrative. Additionally, the action sequences are adequately written, providing some excitement amidst the book's other shortcomings.

Overall, The Orc Queen book two receives a 2-star rating. While it offers glimpses of promise, the book falls short in terms of character development, pacing, world-building, and writing style. It may still appeal to readers who are invested in the orc genre or those who are looking for a light and straightforward fantasy read. However, readers seeking a more immersive and engaging experience may find themselves disappointed.

Highlights:
We're back with the sequel! This book really explored Igor's home world and all the politics and wars going on there. The different types of orcs and all that happened while he was banished to the human realm really haunt his people and everything has changed.

Lowlights:
A common issue with sequels in romance books is that now that the falling in love part is done, the focus shifts more to the non-romance plot that while still interesting isn't something I'm obsessed with.

Horn Level: 3/5🌶️

Format:
Ebook — Kindle Unlimited

The Rating
I give this book a 3/5🌟 rating. This one is more plot focused so perfect for fantasy politics enjoyers but not so much for me.

Less enjoyable than the first book.

Aria isn't a strong character and this book splits up the slightly interesting (though drawn out) storyline Igor's in and Aria basically treading water in the orc land. It made Aria's POV a slog to get through and it was interspersed with a battle storyline that got old rather quickly. Maybe if Aria had gotten more involved in kingdom politics it could've been more interesting? I don't know. Maybe not.

There's also a weird part where she learns about the horrible fate that befell her homeland and she just doesn't care all that much to do anything about it. Add to that the annoyance of a rather weak character finding out they're the "Chosen One" and they've done nothing to earn it. I guess that's fitting in a book that talks a lot about birthrights over earning roles through merit. Either way, I kept hoping we'd finally see Aria do something more than just cry and be damsel-ed but, she does even less in this book.

Oh well, the concept of a black female lead falling in love with an Orc prince is still a cool concept. The execution wasn't my favorite.

Awesome Orc Fantasy

This was a truly wonderful and totally engaging read. The passion was heart warming and sexy as hell. Aria and Igor were spectacularly developed characters that had me hooked and rooting for them throughout both books. I look forward to reading more of Qua’s splendid work in the future.

Qua Hudson does not disappoint in her follow up story to the Orc Prince! We are treated to a fast-paced fantasy with intriguing and imaginative mythical characters (dragons and orcs, on my!). In the first book, Igor is living an almost solitary existence. In his exile, he is keeping a low profile. He has little interaction with humans and has nothing to enrich his life until Aria comes along. In The Orc Queen, the narrative picks soon after Aria crosses the barrier between realms. Aria finds herself in a totally different situation from Igor’s experience among humans. As the mate of the exiled Prince, she is propelled firmly into the heart of the intrigue, mistrust and anger surrounding him; she is welcomed with less than open arms. When Igor arrives (thankfully not too long after Aria) he does not return as a conquering hero and must prove to his people and his family that he is not the same heedless Orc who was placed in exile. A truly formidable task! Will Igor be able to navigate the new order of his world where he is not automatically considered the king or is he doomed for certain failure? I greatly enjoyed this funny and gripping story; both main characters were likable, and the book will firmly hold your attention. In addition, I loved the secondary characters and could easily see some of them starring in THEIR own stories.

So much was happening so quickly and constantly in this book. At times I got a bit lost of what was going on and I didn't like how often Aria and Igor were separate but I did like that there was an overall aim and reason for the adventure and events.

It was interesting to see Aria try to assimilate to a new culture and understand a new world. I liked the setting of their world and all the creatures that inhabited it. It was nice to see more orcs and see how they interacted and how she became friends with them. Coupled with seeing how Igor reintegrated (with some difficulties) back into his old life, it kept it interesting. At times, Igor was very different to the version we saw of him in the first book but thankfully he came back to himself quickly and always treated Aria beautifully.

The inclusion of so many new characters got a bit confusing and how everyone ended up fitting together was a tad bizarre at times but overall an enjoyable story which tied up all the lose ends from the first book and ended in a way that made sense for the characters and their story.

Similar issues with types or the wrong words being used (I.e., “limps” instead of “limbs”) as with the first book. I didn’t notice as many in this one, which was good. I still like the characters but there’s so much going on that moves so quickly and is wrapped up so quickly and neatly that it felt somewhat scattered and unsatisfying. I think the concepts are interesting, but it’s almost like we introduced everything, realized it was too complex, and then wrapped it all up so we could finish within the page limit. I wanted to like it more than I did, but it was still a decent conclusion to the story

I definitely liked part two but I felt like something was missing. This part definitely had the action and was definitely as steamy as the last book but with the ending it felt like something wasn’t there. Lol that’s me wanting a book 3. As per usual Aria definitely made me mad at some parts of the story but at other parts I could understand her frustrations. Igor had a lot on his plate for sure but I loved that he told his queen about what was happening like a true partnership should be.

It continues off where the first book ends. Being able to see Aria and Igor's love for one another as well as them becoming parents was absolutely amazing :) The love they both have for their family and the protectiveness Igor feels for his family is truly the cutest thing. May this amazing couple find their happiness with their family as well as with their kingdom. If I could read this duology all over again I would do it in a heartbeat!!.

Ya know, I wasn't sure how the author was going to top the first book. Then i hit about 10% into this one, and I realized that she easily topped it.

The spice is still spicy af despite Aria being super pregnant and Igor being gone off and one, fufilling his duties. The back and forth between Aria and Igor is fantastic.

The plot thickened, to the point that I wasn't sure how the author would be able to tie all of the loose ends up... And then she did and I am HERE FOR IT!

I have a new favorite Orc romance duology!

I like your books!

I was so surprise by your story it was well written and very well planned for a story that takes place in two different kingdoms and two different worlds! I love that she found her happiness with someone who loves her and put her happiness first. I am kind of left wanting to know about his cousin and Hannah plus what is up with the dragons?! I look forward to more books in this series yes I said series because you have a great series here that can go far! I look forward to reading more your books! Happy reading🙂

A fantastic conclusion to this duo!

The story really flowed well from one book to the other with so much growth and appreciation for Aria and Igor. I truly just fell deeper in love with them over the course of this book and loved how they navigated the world around them, even through moments of uncertainty.

We get more world building and conflict resolution here where most truly pays off in the end. However there are a few loose ends or storylines that we are introduced to but never find a resolution to that give me hope for more in the future. Which I think and hope is a testament to how much I enjoyed this book.

This was a marvelous conclusion. The world exploring that we as the readers got explore in this book was phenomenal. Such a variety of culture and history that was given to us. Such an amazing plot to continue the journey. The plot twists just kept coming and hitting. I love the way the author wrapped it up. You see the true power of the bond between the two MC and the growth they have gone through. It is truly a touching story to read. I throughly encourage this read to lovers of fantasy and romance and if you like some monster smut you have plenty of that too.

Book 2: The Orc Queen, was I confused for 50% of this book? Yes. Did I still thoroughly enjoy it? Also Yes. I’m still new to fantasy so it was hard to keep up with all the magic and plot points. Once I was able to catch up it was a very sweet plot about an Orc that would do anything for his human. I wish he would’ve bowed to her but we can’t always get what we want. Very Excited for Wolfie/Luna’s book!

Almost...

I loved the 1st book but found the 'Queen' lacking in both. Yeah she had beauty and somewhat- intelligent, but all she ever did was cry, whine, and run when instructed.... she had no warrior spirit or fight. Also, how can the FMC be an Ork Queen with no real defensive or offensive powers??? I would have had her be infused with powers when she acknowledged & received the title of Queen.

Do better with the next book, please & thank you.

I could read more

Aria finds herself in a new world, where Igor’s people come with their own revelations. Igor returns home to a mess only he can solve.

Ultimately, I enjoyed this book. It definitely could have been better, but it also could have been much worse. I think I would like to see more books in this series. I think Hudson has a lot to play with in terms of world-building.

If you like orcs, shifters, and a love worth fighting for, this book is for you.

This was a stressful and satisfying at the same time!

I have to say after all that we went through in the first book. This was satisfying. I am so glad for Aria and Igor. They really fought with past and present and two different birthrights. When the world was against them, even their own people they had each other. Because I WAS STRESSED at some point. Definitely recommend reading!

This is the continuation of Igor’s and Aria’s story now they go to his realm where Aria is not very welcomed and Igor has to prove that he isn’t the same orc that was exiled to the human realm. I loved the characters and even though they went through hell and back they were still devoted to each other no matter how many bumps in the road and I highly recommend this book.

The King and Queen

I just got the second book and again finished it in less than a day! I hope one day the author will make a sequel with these characters! Like what happens to all the orca that doesn’t like Igor still? What happens/happened to the kingdom I. The human realm? Again, I recommend this book!

This was where we get all the answers. The first part of this duo has us thinking that we will see a lot more than we actually get for this part. We do get all the answers we needed and wanted in the first half.
For just over 9 months we get a real adventure for these two

amazing

I pre-ordered the book and I was able to read some of it on Wattpad. Then I wanted to support the author fully by waiting to buy it for my kennel. I wish this author the best with their career.

I think this was a nice conclusion for Aria and Igor. I do feel like the story was rushed a bit. I still enjoyed it tho. Usually monster romances are hard and aggressive, but I just loved how soft and vanilla this was. Like I truly felt like the love between the couple. Honestly, I want more. It was so domestic it made me melt 🥺

Loved this continuation! The way that Igor cares so much for Aria and would do anything for her is beautiful. Most love stories only care about the sex, but the plot behind it all makes reading this worth it.
