1333 A.D.

The lovely and educated Lady Bella Grace di Witney is what is kindly termed an unmanageable woman. Her uncle, the Earl of Wrexham, has been awarded custody of his niece because her mother can no longer handle the headstrong beauty.

Like a coward, the earl abdicates his duties to his most powerful knight, Sir Kenneth St. Héver with the instructions to transform her into a submissive lady.

Bella and Kenneth are at odds from the onset; Kenneth expects obedience and Bella is less than compliant. When the battles die down and a strange, wonderful comfort settles, Kenneth comes to discover that Bella is a lady with a secret. Because of this secret, her mother is murdered and Kenneth finds himself protecting Bella because he wants to, not because he has been ordered to.

Mysterious sects and a crazed warrior want the lady dead for different reasons. It soon becomes a test to Kenneth’s cunning and knightly skills to keep his beloved Bella alive.

I enjoyed the story behind this book however the heroine ruined it for me. I could not come to like her at all and I truly felt sorry for Kenneth. Still I won't let this deter me as I have been thoroughly enjoying what this author has to offer.

An Excellent Story

This story has so much action suspense and drama that I could not put it down. If course it also included a good amount of romance. I finished the book within a day. Very Touching also. Cried a few years here and there.

Another great story in the Dragonblade Trilogy. This is the story of Sir Kenneth St. Hever. After Edward takes his seat as the King of England, his 3 knights are assigned to their new stations. Sir Kenneth is sent to the guard of the Earl of Wrexham. All is well until the Earl's niece is sent to stay with him. Lady Aubrielle is a beautiful but willful and disagreeable young lady who has more education than a woman should have for the time, but she is also on a mission. To find the Holy Grail. Shortly after Kenneth is assigned as Aubrielle's 'watch dog', the Earl passes in the night leaving Aubrielle a very rich and powerful woman. She doesn't want the position or the glory, she has a scroll describing the hiding place of the Grail and will do just about anything to find it, including marrying Sir Kenneth.
Of course, this can't be just about the meeting and the falling in love, there are a band of men following her that will do anything to get the scroll and find the Grail. Even kill anyone the Aubrielle loves.
I really enjoyed this book. I love a good strong woman and Aubrielle chasing grown knights from her sight is just too funny. This little bit of a girl beating them up. I really loved and appreciated Kenneth from Dragonblade and was glad that he found his happy ever after. Of course there was a lot of fighting to get there. On to 'Savage Curtain' to see how Sir Stephan meets his fate...

Finding what is important.

Kenneth , a respected knight is second in command at Kirk castle. His liege has taken control of raising his out of control niece Aubrielle. But after one day he passes this control to Kenneth. When his liege passes unexpectedly that same night, Aubrielle inherits his wealth and lands. She asks Kenneth to marry her so he will control the inheritance and she can move on with her quest to find the grail. Kenneth reluctantly agrees but he wants more than a marriage of convenience and she is coming to feel the same. Together they face evil forces within the ranks and the castle and Templars searching for the grail, attempted murder and kidnapping. Never a dull moment. I enjoyed this story very much but after reading book two in the series, this one had a hard act to follow.

Another brilliant success by an amazing author! The second book in the series is just as good as the last one. I love how the characters in all the books of this series are interwoven throughout each book, coming to the aid of the others in times of need. The chemistry behind each couple if breathtaking. And each of the women are strong, decisive and independent, however, it doesn't always mean it's a bad thing when a dashing handsome knight rides in to save the day. Another finely crafted work of fiction that makes me want to live in that time, no matter how dangerous it could be if there was a knight like that to catch me when I fall.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title.

A strong headed young woman, in pursuit of the lost chalice, from the Lord's Last Supper, is intent on pursuing her goal, at all cost.
Therefore, her mother, has left her in the charge of uncle, as her constantly evading the care of those charged with her care, is unseemly and improper conduct for a woman of her status.
In turn, the uncle turns her care to the only person, who seems to be able to prevent her escape, Sir Kenneth.
Thrown together, they begin to learn more about each other, and as various evil acts are committed by others, and unexpected situations occur, they learn to support each other.

Poor plot, shallow characters, horrible dialogue

Normally, I like this author’s work, light reading to pass a rainy day, but this book is not on par with other LaVecque historical romance. The heroine is an unlikeable, unbelievable shrew, and the romance between her and her knight begs credulity. The supporting characters are equally unbelievable. I almost never fail to finish fiction-lite, but I simply can’t stomach this one. Save your precious reading time for something worthwhile.

I loved this story

True to form, Kathryn Le Veque, has found a piece of history and created a unique story around it to enchant her readers. I am rarely disappointed as each is a different approach as is this one. Love the time and location on the Welsh border in the land of castles, warrior monks, knights and fair maids. But even they have unique personalities. Fun read for long weekend or sleepless night. Delightful.

Another wonderful romance from Kathryn Le Veque. A strong, pwerful knight, with a heart full of love and patience. A young educated woman not afraid of saying what she thinks. And she is not afraid to act on her thoughts. When these two get together it is a battle and a love story for the ages. This book also includes some interesting information regarding the legend of the Holy Grail.

Enjoy. I did.

I so loved Book 1, “Dragonblade” (Tate’s story- H) and wanted to love Kenneth’s (H) story in “Island of Glass”, but had to give it 3 stars. I tried to like Aubrielle (h), but it was not possible. She was a strong and smart lass, but too annoying for me. The storyline was overall ok, but I found that finally getting rid of the bad guy dragged on for too long and in some points I had to skip/skip some pages. I love Le Veque, but I just couldn’t give this one a higher review.

Excellent!

One of Kathryn Le Veque's best. I enjoy all her writings. This story has it all! Excitement, intrigue, funny and heart warming. Most of all a good tear jerker. Get your tissues ready, you will need them for both sad and happy tears. Excellent characters. I hope you enjoy this as well as I did. 😺

Island Of Glass

This is the third in the Dragonblade Series by Kathryn LeVeque. This was filled with a story of the life of Kenneth and Aubrielle. The book is about the mighty warrior and his hellion charge. The way they come to deal with one another and the life they live.

I started out really liking this heroine. She was strong, smart, and tenacious, but like so many of Le Veque’s women, she had a whiny/spoiled/bitchy streak. Why Le Veque entertains these characteristics, I’ll never understand. They are not flattering in the least.

The Dragonblade series is the first books I read from KLV. All the books in this series are fantastic. I have been a huge KLV fan from the first book. She sets the bar high especially for this genre.

One of the best books I've ever read.

This book will remain a favorite I am sure. I loved the main characters and the depth of their love and how it evolved was satisfying. I laughed and cried and enjoyed this book immensely.
