Hajime Isayama (諫山 創 Isayama Hajime, born 1986) is a Japanese manga artist from Ōyama, Ōita. His first and currently ongoing serial, Attack on Titan, has sold over 22 million copies as of July 2013. He has mentioned Tsutomu Nihei, Ryōji Minagawa, Kentaro Miura, Hideki Arai and Tōru Mitsumine as artists he respects, but stated that the manga that had the biggest influence on him was ARMS.
I enjoyed this one but it didn't do much for me. The first three episodes of this volume were just fillers that didn't advance the plot. There was a lot of battles that didn't work too well in the manga format. Things changed in the final episode, but they didn't necessarily change for the better. There was a lot of plot twists that occurred at the end of volume 10, but you don't get any answers for the plot twists in this volume. I'm honestly just so confused with what exactly is going on with Eren's group right now. When mangas get as long as this series, they sometimes struggle to keep up the epic storylines throughout the whole series and I'm wondering if that's what's happening with this series... I'm going to keep reading because I'm invested in the story and the characters, but this is probably the weakest volume in the series so far.
Cool fight and even better reveals. Pretty standard to up the tension and stakes, but in this case, it's particularly effective.
Still no humour. It's all as serious as can be. I think it's pretty damn smart to play it this way. I'm lost in the story and I'm never kicked out once. :)
This was good but I feel like we didn't learn anything new. It had exciting fight scenes and a flashback that was interesting, but no real twist or anything. Nothing that would really make this one stand out at least. I am definitely excited for the next volume though, and hopefully it'll have some answers.
Armored Titan and Colossus Titan fight Eren. The titans apparently don't feel like adhering to the laws of physics or thermodynamics, I mean, obviously, but it's getting really ridiculous with the titans being able to manifest their bodies in weird ways. Case in point:
Bro, you forgot your lower half. Also, I don't think ribs can *grip* things.
Bunch of fight scenes that ends with Again. We learn a little more about the titans but really not that much.
This was an ok volume but kind of dumb in parts.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Crazy battles and a reflective ending. Also finally someone calling out Eren his naivety/simple world view I can’t put my faith in you keep talking like some stupid kid
An epic battle starts off this volume. Mikasa for me is again the star of the volume, Armin also being quite touching.
Story I enjoyed the story a lot, but I was a bit disappointed to not get a single answer I was after. With the big reveal of volume 10, I was hoping for at least a few answers here.
I'd really like him to start picking up the pace on the plot development some moving forward. Thankfully now that I've read this volume I can catch up to what's been published in Japan thanks to Crunchyroll.
Artwork I have the same problems here and I usually do. The action is just too hard to follow. There are some really great action sequences in this one that I'd love to see animated.
What an epic volume, we have the fight between Eren and Reinier in their tian form, and the battle is epic. And the scenes of titans is just wow, the art is insane and then you have flashback sequences of them training and all, and Annie teaching Eren and then the modern time when they escape using one of Bertholdt's trick and then they are in the forest and we learn Reinier's split personality, Ymr and what she might know, Beast titan and it all enraging Eren. Meanwhile the scouting legion next will search for him. Insanely good volume and the art is spectacular!
Eren -Reiner fight was amazingly exciting! But all was in vain... Talk about emotion control.. One minute Eren decides to control his emotions, other minute he starts screaming again. I wonder what is there in Reiner's hometown. And what Beast like titan is. I have got my share of spoilers but they are not enough to get all the answers and the manga is addicting... One more thing: I suddenly felt heartbroken because of Reiner and Berthold. and because of Eren's reaction to this betrayal.
The volume where Eren finally realized that Bertolt and Reiner are the Colossus Titan and Armored Titan. Finally, he gets angry about it! Just a reminder, in the previous volume when it was revealed, Eren was like “cool, bro, I’m a Titan too”. Finally, he seems to remember that his mom died because of those two.
The volume where Mikasa tries to save Eren (again!). I actually feel bad for her because she cares/loves Eren so much. Finally, Armin and Mikasa realized that they are always there to help Eren when he’s in trouble (which is like all the damn time).
And Mikasa, trust me girl, Eren is not worth all the trouble and all the cries.

So much action in this one; barely any time to breath in between each page. As much as I'd like to appreciate all the grunting and punching, the story barely moved forward, more questions are thrown at us and the artwork continues to be meh... I mean... I still have difficulty differentiating genders for some characters!
