Come on! How can someone resist a read like this...

The blurb straight away gets you hooked with simple words that makes readers stand at attention:

Stalker.
Sells Adult Toys!
Obsession.
Bodyguard.
Ex-Navy SEAL.
Damaged.
STEAMY HOTNESS (not really mentioned in the blurb but goes without saying)

Nested together continuously, 24/7, is bound to make an attraction rise to the surface and deliver an insatiable challenge and determination of whose going to break first ;)

Romantic Suspense Can’t Get Any Better! I knew after reading the first couple of pages of RUSH that I was going to love it. It’s rare that I feel this way about a book right off the bat. But debut author Beth Yarnell pulled me right into the story from her first paragraph and didn’t let up one bit until the satisfying conclusion. Beth Yarnell’s story-telling ability and fast-paced writing style puts her up there with the best of the romantic suspense authors.

I loved Mi and found her job as a home shopping network host hawking sex toys fascinating and fun! And ex-Navy SEAL bodyguard, Lucas Vega is every woman’s dream hero. The sparks flew between them from the moment they set eyes upon each other and the steam didn’t let up as the story progressed. Through thrilling twists and perilous threats as Mi’s stalker became more dangerous, we learn about the scars and secrets Mi has held onto and shapes who she is. However, having to spend 24/7 with Lucas, she must learn to trust again, and Lucas Vega not only needs to protect her body, but her innermost secrets as well…even when he guards his own secrets.

Engaging back-story, intriguing sub-plots, and taut suspense make RUSH a riveting, well-orchestrated read. Add the sizzling romance between Mi and Lucas and you can’t help but cheer for their happily ever after. I’m eagerly waiting to see what Beth Yarnell offers up next in the Pleasure at Home series. She's now on my auto-buy list.

This book was so depressing. The heroine's mother is really mentally ill. The heroine's brother acts like a spoiled brat (he does grow up by the end of the story) The hero's family hates her because she's not Latina.

The heroine's mother burns her house down because she's mentally ill. She takes care of a baby doll thinking it's her dead baby who died 13 years ago. So sad.

This book just made me sad. Don't read it. It will depress you.

I love bodyguard stories – and the combination of traditional Lucas and entrepreneurial Mi with her sex toys is brilliant. Fast-paced with plot twists galore, Beth Yarnall’s RUSH is an escape read you won’t want to put down. I loved the story’s suspense, but I also loved the way feelings developed between Mi and Lucas - and the sizzling sex did not hurt either. I wanted their relationship to work so badly but Yarnall kept throwing obstacles at them with such rapid-fire succession that I never thought they would have their happily-ever-after. Luckily, however, Yarnall did not disappoint with RUSH’s ending – so I can’t wait to read what she puts out next. (I was provided an ARC for review as a professional courtesy. I wasn't sure what to expect in a book described as a romance between an ex-Navy SEAL and the host of a home shopping program that sells adult toys but what I got was a terrific suspense story with a tender love story woven throughout. Miyuki Price-Jones is being stalked and her cable TV show sabotaged. Her boss hires Lucas Vega to be her bodyguard. Lucas has his own way of protecting Mi and she's not always happy about it, particularly since she has secrets to hide, from him and from everyone else. But then, so does he. Inevitably, their attraction results in a hot and heavy romance but even after the stalker is revealed and the attraction acknowledged, the secrets could mean the end of the romance. Yarnall has created sympathetic characters in a hard-to-put-down book that makes the reader rush to find the Happily-Ever-After.

Since she was fifteen Mi has kept a secret, a dark secret that stole her teen years and has prevented her from staying in a relationship.

Sabotage in the TV program--an adult shopping show--she hosts puts her in contact with Lucas, an ex-navy who is assigned to protect her. Mi falls hard for this thoughtful stranger and for once feels she is the one being cared for. Lucas loves her too but fearing from the consequences that revealing the truth about her past can have in her loved ones, Mi refuses to confide in him.

The threats of an ex-con obsessed with her TV persona throws her again and again into Lucas's arms, making her decision harder, but Mi's sense of family and duty are stronger than love.

Action, suspense and a steamy romance are cleverly intertwined in this novel making Rush a most satisfying read.

I had a great time reading this book. I was putting it off bc I thought it would be the same type of story I have read before but I was wrong. The H is tough, super protective, and very manly. What he isn't, is a manwhore. He actually wanted a wife and kid. This was so refreshing. The H was never mean to h. He was into her from the beginning. He fell in love first and fast. I loved him. I was really afraid that bc the h sold sex toys that it would be included in her relationship with the H. However, neither of them had any interest in using them and they had really steamy scenes w/out any "help." Bravo to this author. She stayed away from clichés and it paid off. My only complaint was that the h didn't take her mother's mental illness seriously. Her mother was a danger to herself and others. I don't understand why she didn't get her the help she needed. It was really dumb.

Mi doesn't have your average 9 - 5 job. As one of the hosts of the popular home shopping program, Pleasures at Home, she loves what she does...and she's good at it. From behind her trademark glasses, she's able to convince her viewers to try a few things to spice up their love lives.

But one of her viewers has become obsessed with her - not just her products.

That's where Lucas comes in. Recently retired from the military, Lucas owes Mi's boss a favor. He's called in to be Mi's personal bodyguard.

As the stakes get higher, the heat between Mi and Lucas rises. Rush is a fast, thrilling ride full of unexpected twists with well-developed, layered characters.

Sometimes keeping secrets can get you killed and that is just what is going to happen to Miyuki Price-Jones unless she learns to trust someone.

Mi is the host of a Home Shopping Pleasures tv show, yes, that's right, pleasures. As in sex toys. And that pisses off a group of protesters and eggs on an ex-con. All out to get Mi.

Lucas Vega, has been assigned to protect Mi from anyone wishing to harm her. But can he protect her from her past and the secrets they are both hiding? Most of all, can he protect her from himself and his desires to have her?

I enjoyed this novel a good bit. It had good pacing and great sex too. I look forward to more from this author.

(I was fortunate enough to win a copy of this book for free through Goodreads First Reads)

Initial thoughts...
This book was a refreshing change from my usual reads. Racy, dark pasts, sex toys (I love a person who can appreciate a good sex toy), a touch of insanity, firey passion, a kitten, and thrilling suspense - just to name a few of the things I loved about this story. I came in with no expectations and came out craving more. While not flawless, it was a captivating read.

I feel like I wasted hours reading this. Mi is pathetic and stupid. Seriously how stupid can one woman possibly be? Lucas was ok but not much of an alpha male. All this build up for it all to be tied up in a few pages. It was just too far fetched for me. I had such high hopes because this was recommended from the forums.

Loved it. Great chemistry between the two leads. Mi and Lucas are hot together. The supporting characters were great, and I hope we get a book about Cal and Lucy next.
Was sort of looking forward to a sex-toy sex scene...maybe in the next book!

There are some great characters in this book (I love Lucas' family), and the best fun is with the scenes where the heroine, Mi, is selling sex toys on TV (why do I always miss finding these shows?). All in all a really good read. I hope we'll hear more from these characters.

#1 in the Pleasure at Home romance series

This book started out well. Miyuki is an attractive young woman who works on a TV-shopping network selling adult sex toys. No problem there except that there are a bunch of protestors who are congregating outside the studio...plus someone is leaving threatening letters and gifts for her both at the studio and at home. Which prompts the producer to hire a bodyguard for her. Lucas Vega is ex-military, a strong alpha male, who realizes he has a soft spot for Mi--attracted to her delicate beauty and sweet nature. Their relationship progresses very quickly, so they end up having some intense sexual scenes together. If all this action wasn't enough, there's also a mysterious secret about her mentally ill mother and the doll that she seems to think is her long-dead infant son. With difficulties with her brother, Mi really has her hands full, and Lucas is only too ready to help her (although he has his own difficult family to deal with). My overall impression of this new-to-me author was good, although the plot seemed a little sloppy. There were some insinuations made at the beginning that never materialized (such as Mi's wanting to use some of the sex toys she promotes, Lucas's family expecting him to take over the business now that he's not in the military anymore, and the huge group of protestors against the show). The story lines were promising but were left as mostly loose ends. This author could benefit from the "less is more" philosophy. There was way too much going on, and I think the story would have been just as good, if not better, if only a couple of the lines were followed, without all the extra drama. The characters were fairly well drawn, but they never seemed to fit together for me. I liked Mi, although her personal issues really seemed unnecessarily overly dramatic, and her stubbornness frustrated me by making her life much more complicated than it needed to be. And, separately, Lucas is a good character, strong yet vulnerable, determined yet willing to step back if that's what Mi needs. But their interaction, although volatile, never really worked for me. All that being said, I will probably continue with this series because I'd like to see what happens with Lucy, Mi's coworker and best friend. Note: The length of time it took me to read this book does not reflect my feelings about it; I was reading it during a busy time in my personal life.

Wow!!!! I won this book through Firstreads and how greatfull am I thankyou. Great work from Beth Yarnall I know why you gave this novel the title "Rush" becauce from the beginning to the end it gives you a huge adrenaline rush and you just want to rush to the finish line. This novel has it all light humour, hot sex, romance, suspence, stalking and a whole lot of twist. You just don't want to put it down.
The story is based around two characters Lucas an ex-navy seal a very strong looking man but is very soft at heart. His instant attraction to Mi makes him want to keep Mi safe and happy at all cost. Then there is Mi avery successful home Tv show that sex sex toys she has a different personality when she is doing her job all her troubles of her life are put a side and she goes right into character. Mi becomes in danger by an ex-con who become obssessed with Mi while he was in jail and he has become stalking her and while this is going on she has a lot of hater's of her show and they have protesters and someone sabartaging things inside the building. Her boss gets Lucas to become her bodyguard and they both have an instant attraction to each other and they both try to fight their feelings for each other, they both have secrets of the past and they will not open up to each other. Mi has held a secret since she was fifhteen and she would prefer to keep it then to ever be happy but with the stalker getting closer to getting Mi they have to learn to trust each other. The heat that lucas feels with her stare and touch he just can't get her off his mind. He never thought he could fall for someone so hard again since his sad past but he has and he will keep trying to get Mi to open up so they can have a relationship. Mi's feelings for Lucas become strong ahe want's a life with him and she wants him to love and care for her but because of her huge secret she just want allow him too. She keeps pushing him away. Will Mi ever let him in on her crazy dark past or will he let him go. You will just have to read this novel and find out. I hope there is another book to follow with these character's as I just loved them. Great work Beth Yarnell your are a great writer. Highly recommended if you want romance and suspence that gives you chills and once it's finished it stays with you this is the one for you.

The story is only on day 2 and I'm a little thrown off by the pawing and "you mean so much to me so fast" feelings these two are having. The instalust just isn't working for me here. The connection just doesn't feel organic.

6hrs left.....

This story is seriously just "meh" for me. I really wanted to love it. I love a good bodyguard story and I love love LOVE a hot sexy latin hero. This story had both. THis story also had a heroine that was too stupid to live. She didn't necessarily DO anything stupid but her attitude is stupid. She made excuse after excuse for why Lucas can't help, why she didn't get help for her mom, why she enables her mom's insanity, why they can't be together. blah blah blah. I understand having a character who has issues with her past but shit woman this chick couldn't catch a break between a stalker and a murder attempt, her mom, her brother, etc. All of these external issues coming to head in less than a week is seriously just too much.

Can I just say I love hearing the narrator say carida in his deep voice....so sexy. It's not a saving grace for the book but it's still a nice "help me get through it".

HOLD UP!!!! Totally just had a WTF moment. We just found out what happened to Ethan and why Mi does what she does now. NOPE!! I. CAN'T!!

1hr left.......

30 mins left..........

Done! The ending left me kinda bland so yeah this story was just a "meh" for me. Not horrible but not shout from the rafters that everyone should run out and read it. I'll listen to the next book as filler but again not one of my favs. but at least the narrator had a sexy voice...lol.

story 2 it was just ok for me

Rush is a dark, dirty, and delicious little thriller that breaks all the rules. I loved it.

For starters, Mi is not your typical heroine. She's got skeletons and them some. Her back story is both unique and interesting. Love her eyebrow raising occupation. It's fun when an author challenges the norms.

I loved the hero, Lucas Vega. She's not shy about saying he's not handsome. He's huge, intimidating, and yet, Mi responds to him in an unexpected and visceral way. It's sexy and he's, oddly enough, a bit repressed sexually and even more surprisingly, vulnerable. But then, aren't we all?

For all her good intentions, I do think Mi is misguided so I agree with the men in her lives, Why do women always have to shoot themselves in the foot? Otherwise, this was a very enjoyable story. Don't miss it.

Wow. Just…wow. Rush is aptly named for so many reasons. As soon as I picked it up, I was in a rush to get through it to find out what happened with Beth Yarnall’s amazing characters. There were so many compelling plot twists, I couldn’t put Rush down to save my life. The hero Lucas is one of the hottest men ever written, and the heroine Mi’s crisis was such a nail bitter. Sometimes in romance, the black moment can feel contrived to be a crisis, but not in this case. I was so worried for the characters and was wondering how Yarnall was going to fix Mi’s seemingly insurmountable problem. And she did it. Flawlessly. This is a must-read for every summer list!

Rush is not really what I was expecting. I was expecting a pretty standard stalker, bodyguard, romantic suspense but there was also a mess of family histories, bad choices and a heroine with a complex, who has been failed by the adults in her life as a child which impacted her as an adult. Needless to say it was heavier than I anticipated going into it.

Yes, there is a stalker situation, which introduces Lucas Vega, our hero to our heroine, Miyuki Price-Jones . That part of the story was pretty straight forward. There are also other dangers throughout the story, including a traitor, zealots, and the messed up families (on both sides). It was all a little much, it could've been pulled together better, but it's not the worst I've read.

I liked Lucas and Mi even if she drove me nuts, and made me want to scream at her to see sense. But I could kind of see where she was coming from at least part of the time. It was a case of I want to shake you till you see sense, but I can kind of understand (even if I don't accept) where she was coming from. So many things could've been solved if she'd just told someone the truth, but secrets have a way of screwing people up.

This book does deal with mental health issues with a side character, and I felt it was portrayed in a limited but real way. They way Miyuki handled it was not the "right" way, but that doesn't make it unrealistic. Mental health has been a taboo subject for a long time for a lot of people, and not just those that have mental health issues. There were also some loose ends that I'm wondering about What about Lucy, her baby and her awful "husband"? Tracey, CALM and the bomb? Jason?

I received a free copy from InstaFreebie via GenreCrave.com; this is my honest review
TRIGGER ALERT: Hard details on dysfunctional family and family violence.
-Romantic suspense with lots of action and bedroom scenes with open doors. Protected. I could have done with much less BR scenes.
-Mostly predictable - I detected one of the culprit by chapter 9 - but it was still a fun ride. The H/h are interesting and real with real family problems.
-Mi was holding on to a secret and we still had no idea at 73%. That was getting old. We got most of the story at 93%. So much so that I thought Ethan was still alive and hidden somewhere, away from his mother.
-Editing needs a serious pass. There a many many words missing: the, on, a, for, etc. or a duplicate of the same words.

This was a really interesting story. Lucas was amazing, Mi was adorable, and they were actually pretty good together as a couple. There were times when I wanted to strangle Mi for being so stubborn about her mother and refusing to accept help. I was relieved when her brother Jason finally manned up. Knowing who the culprits were from the beginning made the story a little less suspenseful, but overall, this was a good story.

Lost: A Steamy, Action -Filled Bodyguard Romance

Just finish the book instead of dragging it across two or three books please. So far there isn't any action except the bedroom kind. The story is a bit rough around the edges and could a little rewrite.
