War veteran Kennedy O’Brien is in the business of sticking it to the man—or at least any man who tries to cross a woman. After she returned home from Afghanistan and caught her husband in bed with the nanny, Kennedy lost her faith in men and started Fool Me Once Investigations with her two best friends. After all, there’s no better bounty hunter than a woman scorned.

When Kennedy takes a case to slap cuffs on a bail jumper turned dog-napper, she figures it’ll be an easy paycheck. But trouble has a way of finding Kennedy. Enter the last man on the planet she’d willingly choose as a partner: her cheating ex-husband’s best friend, Griffin Crawford.

As gorgeous as he is unwelcome, Griffin has always had a thing for Kennedy, and after keeping quiet about her ex’s cheating, he’ll do anything to earn back her trust. Whether or not she wants to admit it, Kennedy will need help as the case of the Chihuahua thief spirals out of control. Griffin may be just her man—in more ways than one.

I really enjoyed this book. It's my first Tara Sivec book and it was great. Kennedy was my kind of woman. She was funny, brave, strong and she was ready to cut a mf if need be. Griffin was yummy, sexy, and funny. I loved them together. This book had tons of sexual tension. I also loved Kennedy's two besties, and I can't wait for their books. I loved Kennedy's dad. Really the whole book was very funny. I laughed and smiled the whole time. The only reason this book is 4 stars and not 5 is because I felt it should have been longer. The ending felt rushed. I wanted more!

3.5 funny stars!

 photo 4be005f7-2336-4f35-8e4f-2a2956b40d37_zps3b45c791.jpg

Tara Sivec is the queen of funny. Her books can always make me smile and laugh big time. This was no exception.

Kennedy and her two best friends started their own company after they were all burned by men. It’s called Fool Me Once Investigations. Kennedy is newly divorced. After serving in the military, she came home to find her husband screwing around on her. Now it’s just her and her two daughters and she’s okay with that. Working on a case to catch a bail jumper, she finds she has a partner. Griffin. Griffin was her best friend. He was also friends with her husband. And Kennedy hasn’t had anything to do with him since her split. Griffin knew what was going on and didn’t say anything. Or at least thats what she thinks. She can’t handle that. But she’s always been attracted to Griffin. That’s not changed.

These two don’t work together very well. They come up with a wager... Kennedy can’t pass up a bet. If Griffin catches the guy first, Kennedy has to go on a date with him. If Kennedy wins, she gets to punch Griffin. All is fair in love and war. Both are determined to beat the other and will stop at nothing to be declared winner...

Full of crazy shenanigans, sexual tension, laugh out loud lines and that special kind of Tara Sivec humor, this was a full of fun read for me. A little on the short side, but I enjoyed the sexy scenes and the off the wall humor. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a short and funny read!

Book 1: Shame on You_MCs: Kennedy O’Brien&Griffin Crawford
Book 2: Shame on Me_MCs: Paige McCarty&Matt Russo
Book 3: Shame on Him_MCs: Lorelei Warner&Dallas Osborne

Since her husband and high school sweetheart left her for a much younger, completely stupid and with bigger boobs girl, 35 years old Kennedy decided that she hates all men. Including her best male friend since high school, Griffin.

Kennedy was fighting in Afghanistan with Griffin, while her husband was fooling around and Griffin knew all about it and said nothing. Consequently the newly divorcee single-mother Kennedy just wants to revenge all men who make women suffer.
Together with her two best friends Paige and Lorelei, they have started a new investigation office called me “Fool Me Once”.

So, Kennedy is happily single, until Griffin appears in her life again and tells her a secret that he has been hiding for 18 years.

The book is hilarious. There is not really a story that makes sense – unless you consider the story of the missing Chihuahua (Tinkerdoodle) and the hairdresser with the fake Swedish accent believable- but nevertheless I had a good time reading it. Over the top situations, funny dialogues, lots of pranks, steamy scenes between Kennedy and Griffin.

Overall a funny, enjoyable book. I was giggling, while I was reading it. And I really needed that.

3.5* -- Get That Rat Bastard! LOL -- Stars

When I first started reading this, it reminded me of those older short romances by Janet Evanovich from the 90's. They always had quirky characters, absurd plot points, loads of snarky humor, and some naughty sexy romance. SHAME ON YOU certainly has that same formula and was an enjoyable read, but the humor didn't work quite as well for me.

The Cast & Crew: One tough ex-military bounty hunter heroine, one cheating ex-husband, two awesome girl friends for support, one clueless meddling dad, one aluminum hat wearing perp with a fluffy little dog, one hairdresser with a fake accent, and one seriously HOT ex-best friend who makes your panties melt.

Kennedy O’Brien, an ex-military woman and now a bounty hunter and a single mom thanks to her rat bastard, cheating ex-husband. Her and two friends opened Fool Me Once Investigations to find other rat bastards. She is currently trying to track down a perp who skipped bail, wears tin foil hats, and believes in alians.

Griffin Crawford, was once friends with her ex-husband Alex until the rat bastard gets caught with his pants down. He has been in love with Kennedy for 20 years, and now will do what it takes to make her his. Unfortunately, she isn't talking to him as she believes he was in cahoots with her ex and helped him carry out the affair. He too is a bounty hunter, and now working the same case as Kennedy.

Steven/Sven, is the crazy stereotypical gayer-than-gay hairdresser who uses a fake accent and lives on drama, drama, drama! But keep an eye on this guy, he might not be what he seems.

The Perp Both Kennedy and Griffin are working as bounty hunters to capture this crazy guy who jumped bail. He is a complete wacko who wears foil hats, believes in alians, and has the cutest little dog TinkerDoodle.

TinkerDoodle the Poodle, is a scene stealer, so keep an eye on her.

This book started off strong and had me snickering and laughing, but by the end the humor faded and the laughs nearly stopped completely. I think it might have been the repetitiveness of the humor? Not sure.

Bottom Line: I really did enjoyed this, just wasn't blown away. It had some really fun scenes, interesting characters and some laugh out loud moments. I just wished it didn't get so over-the-top toward the end, and I especially wished Kennedy wasn't so hot and cold with Griffin all of the time. It had great potential, but didn't deliver on all of it.

3.5--OTT--Stars!!

This was fun, funny, and entertaining....if not a bit OTT, trying too hard and silly.

I think if you're a fan of Tara Sivec or you're looking for something light and fluffy to read, then this is the perfect book.

My first thought was that it reminded me of the Stephanie Plum series....same silly antics. Kennedy owns her own investigation firm, Fool Me Once Investigations but from what I could tell there wasn't much work going on.

Kennedy was of course, completely badass....was formerly in the Army, can shoot perfectly, knows self-defense...the picture of perfection.

Kennedy spent most of her time during the book working part-time for her dad's bail bonds company. Her two best friends also work with her, I think. And they are of course, perfect too. One was a former model and the other is a high powered attorney.

They all three were scorned by their men and seem to be on a mission.

Hence the name Fool Me Once Investigations. Kennedy's dad assigns her a partner for the latest skip and it's none other than Griffin Crawford.

Griffin is Kennedy's former best friend, as well as her ex-husband Alex's former best friend. Griffin has been in love with Kennedy since they were kids. Griffin and Kennedy have a falling out because Kennedy thinks Griffin knew about Alex cheating on her.

But color me shocked, it was just a big miscommunication.

Kennedy doesn't want to work with a partner...so she and Griffin make a bet about who can capture the skip first. If Griffin wins, Kennedy has to go out on a date with him. If Kennedy wins....hell, I forgot what she would get.

What ensues, is a lot of silly OTT attempts at catching the skip and Griffin and Kennedy trying to one up the other one.

I believe the next books in the series are about the other two friends. So I guess I would classify this one as HFN, as I am sure Griffin and Kennedy will be in the other books as well.

Again, it was fun. It was fluff. It was entertaining enough. There were a few steamy scenes, and I did lol a few times. It was a good in-between book...perfect for a light, quick read.

FOUR GRIFFIN CRAWFORD STARS.

description

This story was the perfect book for my easy reading needs, it came just at the right time and I happily gobbled this book up in one sitting. You can expect a little bit of silly, a ginormous amount of sexy and a heap of the giggles. Tara Sivec is a 'new to me author' and I loved her style, I'm now going off to discover more by the talented Mrs Sivec but until then here are my 'Fool me once' book thoughts ...

What's it all about?
Kennedy O'Brien has sworn off love completely so much so that after leaving the military she gained a divorce and a successful business with her two closest friends as private investigators. Her next assignment brings her into contact with guns, a chihuahua and her gorgeous but unwelcome, cheating ex-husband's best friend, Griffin Crawford. Griffin has been harbouring more than a small crush for the last 18 years and with his deadbeat best friend out of the picture he won't stop until he gets what he's always wanted. But before that happens they both have to put their hearts on the line and their trust in each other. Find out what happens in this hilarious tale of love, romance and 'God Damn' you moments that you won't what to forget.

description

What did I love?
Most of you are already aware that I have an unhealthy infatuation with stories that feature a 'i've-loved-you-from-afar-and-happen-to-be-your-gorgeous-best-friend' themed storyline. Everything about this plot was hilariously over the top and when the romance did make an appearance I was like a love struck teenager. I loved the idea of the three love-scorned friends joining together to form a business and the friendships and family ties in the story all hilariously fitted in well with the book. The heroine was a likeable ball breaker with a vulnerable streak that softened her character. Kennedy is witty, strong and beautiful inside and out. The hero, Griffin is a protector with a gorgeous soft side which made him inescapably charming, who can resist a man on a Harley who has been in love with his best friend for 18 years? Not me. Everything about this scrumptious novel was either likeable or laughable and I'm excited to what Sivec creates next with her other characters in future books of the series.

Why not five?
This story was super short, what I did read I loved and it was certainly a laugh a minute but I needed more. Just as I was settling into a well paced and engaging story line it was all over. But as far as complaints go I haven't got much to grumble about with this short story and I'm looking forward to discovering longer novels from the same author.

description

Final thoughts ...
If you like your books to be comical, romantic and laid back then I would wholeheartedly recommend this quick, easy-read as the perfect escape. Why has it taken me so long to read this authors work? Who know's why, Shame on me, I love a well paced romantic comedy so it won't be long before I'm reading more by Tara Sivec. This book was a great taster to her writing style and I can report with a smile that I liked it, I liked it a lot. Go grab it readers ... Enjoy, kisses.

3.5 Tinkerdoodle Stars

This was a cute, silly, ridiculously silly at times, with a nice mix of romance read. I liked the story and the set up characters that should flow nicely for the rest of the series.

Three friends who are inspired by being burned by the men in their lives open a business called Fool Me Once Investigations.

description

The main character Kennedy, who’s marriage fell apart six months ago, finds herself picking up a bond case from her dad’s office. She is irate when she finds that she is partnered with her friend/crush/ex husband’s bff, Griffin Crawford.

Kennedy and Griffin compete to catch a dognapper who has jumped bail and is on the run. Sexual tension between Kennedy and Griffin and repressed feelings heat up this short story.

”If I win, you have to go on a date with me.”

”Fuck, you taste good. I’ve wanted you like this for eighteen years,” he murmurs, pressing a kiss to my neck. Whoa. The fuck?”

One scene was a huge let down for me…

A race to capture the bad guy has the couple falling for one another along the way. There are funny scenes, action packed scenes and two annoying little dogs.

Tara Sivec does indeed deliver the FUNNY although sometimes it was a bit too much for my tastes, this was still a light entertaining read.

Fool Me Once Investigations is the name of Kennedy's business she owns with her two best friends. Kennedy's ex-husband cheated on her while she was serving her country and now she's determined to prove she doesn't need a man.

Griffin is a former high school friend of Kennedy and also her cheating ex-husband’s best friend. He's helping her catch a bail jumper and to liven things up he's proposes a 'bet' with her; if he wins she has to go out on a date with him.

In 2012 I read Seduction and Snacks and laughed so much I was banned from reading the book in bed at night. Shame on You did not have the same effect on me.

Check this book out when you need a quick, light book to read.

Overall Opinion: I guess I'm not paying attention to things lately, because I totally missed the fact that this is what I would consider a short book. It was enjoyable for what it was, but it's no secret that I'm not a fan of shorter books. My reasoning is that I have found that it's not enough time for me to connect to the characters,to connect with their connection to each other, or for me to feel satisfied with the ending (without being left with unanswered questions) -- and all that definitely happened here. I also am not a big fan of the "I've loved you for years but have never done anything about it" theme. There needs to be a darn good reason why they didn't pursue a relationship, and I just end up feeling short changed in that I don't get to actually experience the development of feelings! I did laugh out loud a few times...so anyone looking for a funny, short, low-angst read -- this one might work great for you!

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Kennedy and Griffin's story. Kennedy is upset when she finds out that her father has hired Griffin to help her with a bond skip case. She is mad at Griffin because she felt like he wasn't being the best-friend that she thought he was when she found out about her husband cheating. She has always had a crush on Griffin (since high school), and she cannot fight it when he comes on strong in his pursuit of her. They dance around each other while trying to find the slippery bond jumper...but they do get a HFN ending.

POV: This was told in Kennedy's POV (I think it could've benefited by having some of Griffin's POV as well).

Overall Pace of Story: Ok for being a short book. I never skimmed, and it flowed well. The ending did feel abrupt.

Instalove: No, but they already had feelings for each other when the story begins.

H rating: 3 stars. Griffin. He was ok.

h rating: 3 stars. Kennedy. She was ok.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed.

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Low. Only a few scenes.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: No

OW/OM drama: No

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: Not between the mcs.

Separation: No

Possible Triggers: Not really

Closure: This didn't have hardly any closure except them sharing "I love yous". I would call it a HFN ending.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: This should be Safe for most readers.

Excellent book!! Its funny with lots of romance. A bit like Stephanie Plum but in combat boots. Our heroine is a vet who returned to find her husband in bed with the hot, young nanny. Unfortunately it seems their best friend knew and kept it from her.
Now she is a private eye and working a job for her bondsman father. The bounty she’s after is hilarious and to make matters even more funny her ex besty is also after him...and her.

The best parts of Tara Sivec in one big anorexic book….

I really didn't know what to expect with Shame on You. Hell, I never know what to expect; it's Tara Sivec. Her writing is so multifaceted that you never know what you're gonna get. When my book arrived in the mail, I was shocked. My book was anorexic! It was suppose to be a book, but…but....It needed to eat more words. Tara! Why didn't you feed it more words?? Is it possible that 139 pages could be enough? Is it enough? Was it enough?

Tara Sivec, you now have my permission to slap the cynical right off my face. Slap it hard!

Shame on You had all the best parts of Tara Sivec in one. It's like every single one of her writing personalities had one wild night together and produced this uniquely multidimensional novel? Novela? Mini-book? Book petit? Whatever you want to call it, it had everything-drama, suspense, sexual tension, the release of said tension, and of course humor. Grade A, Tara Sivec real hilarity. A touch of everything; combining to create a fast, entertaining, and fun experience.

I've noticed many readers are comparing this to the Stephanie Plum series. I for one, have absolutely no idea who this Stephanie Plum is. I know only what google is prepared to tell me, but it's moot. Tara Sivec's uniquitivity is her own and I can't imagine comparing it to anyone. Not even to a plum.

Tara Sivec did such a great job with this, my only complaint was that I didn't get more. The pace was almost too fast. I would have very much enjoyed this in a full length novel; selfishly wanting more time with the amazing plot and compilation of characters. I'm selfish like that. However, I will definitely be reading the next installment to the Fool Me Once series. Most definitely!

READ ON!

Kennedy is a war veteran, returned from the army to find that her ex-husband was a cheater. Now, after having divorced from him, she and two of her friends, also mistreated by men, opened an investigation office called “Fool Me Once Investigations”.
When Kennedy takes a case regarding a stolen Chihuahua (yes, you’ve read it right.), she thinks it’s going to be an easy cake.
But when things turn crazier than they should be, comes an unexpected help: Griffin. An old friend of the cheating asshole, who always had a thing for Kennedy and treat her daughters better than their own father.
Kennedy swore off all man, but Griffin may as well be the only exception.

Okay, this was I was excepting before start reading a Tara Sivec book:

description

And to be far, I had. But not near as close as I was expecting. I’ve read her books before so I was expecting a doing review along the lines “Don’t read this in public if you don’t want to look like the crazy old lady laughing alone in the bus”, but it wasn’t that fun.
However, it had great moments, got some laughs out of me and I am really curious to read the next one in the series.

Rating: 3,5 Stars.
Storyline: Sweet, funny and with some unexpected twists. One of those silly books that will make you feel better instantly. (I mean, there’s a Chihuahua named Twinrkerdoodle!)
Writing Style: First person, female POV. If you are familiar with Tara’s books you know that she always deliver an addictive story that you can’t stop reading.
Character Development: Well, I liked Kennedy, but as usually happens with heroines, she annoyed a lot out of me. Griffin was pretty good but not great. The silliness of the supportive characters and their banters was a great part of the book.
Steam: Some hot scenes.

Not too bad. The author was VERY wise to pick veteran narrator, Amy McFadden, for the audiobook recording. Amy carried the story and made it fun to listen to.

Though it was a little heavy on the criticism of other women (hate that) with plot that was fun but didn't make a whole lot of sense, I was surprised at how I ended up enjoying this book in the end. Solid, mindless fun.

Kennedy returned from war, caught her husband cheating and started Shame on You Investigations with her equally scorned two friends. Now they use all that man-hating power for good by nabbing the bad guy. When Kennedy takes the case of the bail jumper she expects this one to be a piece of cake but she didn’t expect to have a partner on the case.

Griffin was her fellow solider, her best friend, long time crush and the best friend of her cheating ex. He’s also the man that she believes lied to her about the affair she knew he found out about. But he’s also GD good looking and even though her brain is telling her that he’s no good, her vagina is giving him a come hither look.

As these two try to nab the bail jumper, they place a simple wager. If she gets him first; she can punch him and if he wins; he gets a date.

One thing about Tara Sivec’s writing is that it is hilarious. She has a way with creating the most outrageous situations that are so far out there, but just work so well in her stories. This was a short and laugh out loud read that I absolutely loved. Tucked away behind all the jokes there were a few sweet moments that made your heart skip a beat. Griffin was downright adorable.

I highly recommend reading this one, if you’ve never experienced the balls to the wall crazy that is Tara Sivec, you are missing out.

Quick and highly entertaining story! At first, I thought that Kennedy was too crass and I didn't think I'd like her as the heroine. However, I got over that quickly. She was hilarious!

Griffin is a great guy and a total hottie also. The rivalry between the two led to some very funny situations and great banter. They had great chemistry together and it was clear that Kennedy needed a guy that wasn't a total pushover. She'd met her match in Griffin.

The ending was great and I can't wait to see where book 2 takes these characters. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was wonderful as well! She really added a lot of energy to the story and was very animated. No monotone voice for this audiobook!

“Sleep with one eye open, babe. Game on.”

Sexy, Cute and Comical. Although the end of the story is inevitable, its the thrill of the chase and the man who isn’t afraid to go head to head with the one who wants to cut his balls off. Totally perfect for a good laugh and a good time!

Fool Me Once is the baby of three women whose lost all faith in mankind, burned and scorned, these women get the job done to take all the lying cheating bastards out. For Kennedy O’Brien, Griffin Crawford is just the man to prove to her that not all men are assholes!

3.5...what in the heck was that little gem of crazy????

It's Tara Sivec, so lord knows it is gonna be off the wall cray-cray...she is an automatic one click every damn time for me. So the idea of scorned women with guns, potential criminal encounters, and well lots of hot sex....

However, for me this was too fast...too crazy too soon. Kennedy and her besties are all women scorned working as PI's...bounty hunters...a real life woman justice crew. When Kennedy gets a case it brings back her HS crush and philandering ex;s bff, Griffen....yep, sex on a stick!

well, there is snatched ankle biting dogs, fake accent criminal hairdressers, crazy alien believing cons, lots of family dysfunction, and two characters who want each other immediately amongst all the insanity. Somewhere in here is a story...but yet there isn't...I know sounds totally nuts right?

Doesn't matter...I was entertained, laughed out loud and had some minor swoon moments. For me this was like an appetizer of a read...just a little something to hold me until the next big dish comes out!

Genre: Humor

Shame On You is a fast paced and lighthearted humor novel about a bounty hunter. It reminds me of Janet Evanovich's, Stephanie Plum series. It's a good book to get lost in for a few hours without all the romance and drama (although there is a little romance) to muddy everything up. While it may not be my favorite Tara Sivec book, I am happy to have read and will certainly be reading the other two books in the series.

This was fun! I felt like a shorter read today so I decided to finally give this book a try. I loved the humor worked in throughout the story. Kennedy has known Griffin forever it seems and she is less than happy about the fact that her dad has paired them up to find catch a man that skipped bond. These two were great together and I thought that they were well matched. Amy McFadden did a great job with the narration. Just an all-around fun read!

I was rather disappointed in this book in all honesty!

I loved the Chocolate Lovers series! Loved it!

But this book just left me vaguely annoyed.

Kennedy O’Brien found out her husband was cheating, and dislikes her husbands best friend Griffin Crawford, (who was apparently also one of her Best Friends) as she thinks he knew about the affair all along.(although at one point she says she found out that Griffin knew all along a few months after she kicked the ex out, then literally a couple of pages later, she is thinking that the very day she discovered he ex cheating, she went to Griffin, and then overheard him on the phone, telling he ex to keep quiet about it all and not tell her!)

The thing is, I just did not like Kennedy!

Am not sure where she is supposed to have met her 2 best friends, who she started her agency with, they seem to have no history! it is mentioned that as a teen, young adult she hung around with her brothers, cousins, Griffin and her EX, as they were in the army or similar and all liked to go off and do manly things I suppose like wrestle bears while naked and covered in war paint. Ok, I am just assuming that, but it is mentioned enough times how none girly she is!

And given her complete derision for anything girly why she would be friends with these two other women is beyond me!

Was just a major plot contrivance to be able to get 3 books out of this I think!

She is an awful mother! Implying her 12 year old daughter is slutty and looks like a streetwalker! Clearly preferring the younger girl over the older one, as she had failed to make the older one exactly like her as apparently she knows "You're not supposed to force your children to be like you, but come on, what parent doesn't at least try?" Well, any other decent parent!! Ugh

But that is ok, because soon she manages to get the kids out of the way, when the crappy ex who has not seen them in ages, shows up and she chucks her kids at them, then keeps telling him to keep them longer so she can sort out her sex life basically!

There was no depth to the characters at all. I have no sense of who Griffin was as a person, other then a nice ass in jeans and rode a Harley! And what I knew about Kennedy, I did not like!

It all felt a bit forced, ridiculous and plain daft!

Unfinished around a third of the way in. So yeah, not my thing at all. If you like bumbling heroines who talk tough but trip over floor lint and stories manipulated by the author for maximum ridiculousness, you may have a more forgiving reaction. Let me put it this way: this is Stephanie Plum with fewer brains and worse coordination and cheaper laughs. Also: if she's an accurate example of a combat veteran I can only weep for the state of our armed forces...

Kennedy, Paige and Lorelei are all best friends. They've all had very bad luck when it came to men, so they decided to start a company called Fool Me Once Investigations together. Kennedy served in the Army, following in the footsteps of all of the men in her family. Her bad luck consisted of coming back from a tour of duty to find her husband cheating on her with the nanny.

Her father is a bail bondsman and has given her a case to work on, but with a catch. He's hired a partner for her to work with. This she dislikes because she usually works alone, but when she finds out who her partner is it drives her crazy. Griffin Crawford was her ex-husband's best friend. She also spent time with him on a tour in Afghanistan where he became one of her best friends too. When she suspected something was up with her husband she confided in Griffin. But, ever since she and her husband split up, she's refused to have anything to do with Griffin because she thought he knew about her husband's affair and didn't tell her.

"I thought my heart was broken when I found out Alex had been screwing around on me, but it was nothing compared to having one of your best friends deceive you."

Griffin is insistent on talking to Kennedy hoping to clear the air between them. Kennedy is attracted to Griffin and the fact that he has a motorcycle too just adds to his attractiveness. But she's not interested in talking to him or working with him. Griffin comes up with an idea to make a little bet with her and Kennedy can't turn it down.

"What do I win, since we both know I'm going to get him first?"
"If you bring him in before I do, I'll let you get in one good solid punch to make up for the pain I caused you."
"Deal."
"Wait! What do you win if you catch him first?"
"If I win, you have to go out on a date with me."

And then the craziness ensues. They are constantly racing one another, both wanting to win. Kennedy wants to win because she doesn't want to go out with Griffin because she has to, but because she wants to. Griffin wants to win because he's been harboring feelings for her for years and this may just be his shot to finally act on them. Now it's just a race against time to see who wins.

Tara Sivec knows funny and she shows that again with this new series. Even though this book was just over one hundred pages I didn't mind. She packed a whole story that made me laugh and swoon a bit over Griffin. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Fun, quick listen on audiobook. This had the silly humor I enjoy and had me laughing out loud in quite a few places. Great side characters that added to the fun. Narrator did a really good job. She has a great voice and was easy to listen too.

Heroine is a divorcee with three girls. A long time and mutual friend of her and her ex is the hero. You get the idea that Griffin has been in love with Kennedy since High School but the ex got to her first. Now that the ex is out of the picture, Griffin makes his move.

Kennedy isn't receptive to Griffin's attention since overhearing him tell her ex to not let her know that he cheated. More to that story that you learn later in book, but this causes Kennedy to avoid him for the last 6 months.

Kennedy is forced to interact with Griffin when her father hires him and she has to work along side him. What ensues is fun banter between the two and a bet that has Kennedy in all kinds of funny situations.

3 - A little too OTT for me - stars

While I'll admit this book overall was cute, it was also very cheesy and a little too over the top at the same time.

Kennedy is newly divorced war veteran with a teenage daughter. She helps her dad with his bond jumpers and takes a case.

What she doesn't realize is she is partnered with Griffin Crawford, which is her ex-husband's best friend and her former crush.

Needless to say she has a wee bit of a grudge against him. But you know she still has the hots for him.

They make a bet where if he catches the bail jumper than she has to go out on a date with him. She is determined not to let that happen.

Oh and I forgot to mention the bail jumper is this crazy dude named McFadden who kidnapped a dog named Tinkerdoodle.

No seriously....

So anyways, the rest of the book is basically Kennedy's hijinx catching McFadden, hanging with friends and family, and then getting it on with Griffin. And finally in the end we get our HEA and I love yous.

The audio version came with this on KU, which was great because it gave me something to listen to while I was prepping and painting the walls of my mudroom. But I'm thinking it's because of that that I didn't enjoy it as much as I was expecting to. This was my first Tara Sivec book that didn't feature the Seduction & Snacks crew. It was good, I liked the characters, it was funny - I laughed out loud a few times. But I don't know, I didn't love it. It felt a little incomplete, or maybe rushed is a better word for it. Maybe it's just because I couldn't hear all that well over my scrub brush at some points. It just felt like by the end of it, I wished I had more information. Or maybe less time spent during certain scenes and more time on others. Or more time developing Griffin and Kennedy's relationship. It's a little hard to pinpoint, but I'll definitely read the next one either way.

I must say it was a little bit over the top in the "silliness" aspect and it went too far at times for my taste.
It was not completely bad though, I did like some parts of it and some were funny, but there were just more that were just too silly for me and mostly missing its mark regarding humor.
