Her friends believe her a traitor. She believes him a monster. After Reiman’s death, Bella slips into a vipers pit by joining Gerrish and the Heralds, a group that serves the Dark Sister. Her goal isn’t initiation. Bella has trained her whole life to bring down The Heralds and save the magic of Ariathne that binds their realm as prophecy foretold. But Gerrish has a secret. Though he isn’t of the bloodlines, he holds dark power from the Goddess and can sense when Bella draws from the magic. As Bella dives deeper into her deception, Gerrish pulls her into his inner circle exactly as she hoped. The only problem? Gerrish isn’t the monster she imagined him to be. As Bella’s heart softens toward him, she may not be capable of doing what she knows she must. Kill Gerrish and save the magic. Bella is no stranger to death. But can she take the life of the man she’s beginning to love? With thrilling twists and heart-stopping revelations, The Diviner will leave readers breathless until the very last page. Super enjoyable!

Characters- the FMC and the MMC were both very likable, even though the MMC is on the opposing side. I give them both 5 stars. The author made him a very sympathetic character which is a big feat considering!

Romance- some fabulous tropes: slow burn, forbidden romance, oops walked in on you naked, you saved my life, only-one-bed, caught you checking me out. Loved the romance. Amazing sky-high chemistry that built slowly and realistically. This was the best part of the book.

Writing- Overall great. There were some mental gymnastics as to why it was okay that Bella killed her friend, but I didn’t pick it apart. There’s a focus throughout the series on the characters working out the Goddesses’ intentions and the prophecies, which isn’t my favorite aspect. It definitely gets a little convoluted. But it’s necessary for the progression of the series as the characters figure things out as they go. Btw, I feel like the medical aspect of the burn victims was botched; if it was going to be so unrealistic the author needed to put more emphasis on the incredible magical healing qualities of the medical care. Luckily, the great romance happening at the time helped me shrug this off.

Conclusion- no killer cliff hanger. I feel fully satisfied and it sets it up for Book 4 which I will def be reading. I love that we get a new fantastic romance with each book!

Content-
Language: no swearing.
Spice: one well written sex scene that pulled the curtain at the end. It wasn’t raunchy or smutty, but it had enough implicit details to just exceed the tag “steamy clean.”
Cover- good.
Narration- excellent
Format- I 50/50 listened to this on audiobook via Everand and read it on KU.

How I rated this series-
The Blessing Giver- 5 stars (Rayelle & Paladin)
The Herbalist- 3.5 stars (Mel & Rhodric)
The Diviner - 5 stars (Bella & Gerrish)
The Balancer - 1.5 stars (Aedra & Brion)

*Even though I didn’t enjoy the last book in this series, I loved the 1st and 3rd books and I think it’s worth reading 1-3 for sure!
I enjoy this author and think she can write a great romance, so I’ll def read her other books.

This was amping up to be a 5 star read!
I have really enjoyed the series and am looking forward to the next one.

I love Gerrish. I love Bella. These 2 have been some of my favorite story lines.
Brian.. I don't trust you man, so we will see.

There's a lot happening here that isn't really explained? I'm hoping for clarity in the next book, but one of my biggest pet peeves is stringing readers along and hoping we glean what is intended. Sometimes I just need it spelled out for me!

Overall loved it, we will see what the next book brings!
