I liked how direct this book is in delivering the scenes rather than exaggerating them. The groveling came quickly, this book starting right off from the ending of Book 1. The efforts Remo put in for Aurora were seriously cute, and Aurora's concerns didn't make her difficult or annoying. She was right, and I was 100% with her on her feelings for Remo. what Remo doesn't know is that he's seriously a green carpet 🤭

It's literally "Touch her and you die," and it was satisfying! No one can mess with MY WIFE guy 😌 This book stayed true to its micro-tropes and delivered everything. The stalker thing kind of came as predictable tho. It would've been more interesting if it turned out to be the person I least expected. I overall enjoyed it, it was a quick and nice read, not too dark.

I'm waiting for Helia's story tho. He definitely has a beef with Ambrose 😭 and I'll sell my kidneys because their scenes SCREEAAMMEEEDDD ANGST. ✋🏻 But I guess they'll get their book later, and Kamari will get her book first.

It was boring for most of the book because she was mad at him and he just kept giving her gifts to wear her down enough and nothing was really explained until he got in a car accident. She still had a stalker and he still was trying to find his sister.

Part of why it was boring was because of the paving because it wasn’t until the last 20% where they finally figured out who the villain was (which I totally called from the first book) and she finally starts going to therapy and they talk to each other.

Blah blah blah happy ending where they have a baby and they name drop the title of the first book as one of the last sentences.

Also, these two books could have been one. On top of the slow beginning, half this book was filled with the same metaphors about him watering the flowers she bloomed while in love or something like that. Hung the moon, shined her car, swept the attic idk it was just long winded and didn’t add anything so it was not enjoyable for most of the book until the end.

Too much hurt, deception, revenge and too much Love confessions.

But The well deserved ending for the duet.

Loved Remo even more. But I am intrigued and excited for Helia if he has a book too!

I hope Kamari & Roel gets book 💕

So it's a wrap on "Bitter Deception" by Akwaah K.

Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book had one of the most unique plots I had ever read. It was big of a slow read in the beginning but it catches up quickly. Remo and Aurora definitely had a roller coaster ride.

There were points where I wanted Aurora to leave Remo for good and there were points where I was specifically rooting for Remo to win Aurora back. I was indecisive until the very end. Akwaah definitely kept me on my toes.

I was excited to reach the end of this book. If you are in a reading slump I would highly recommend this duet. I can guarantee it will get you back to reading again.

All in all it was a very good read. Thanks for the ARC Akwaah!

Stay tuned for more such update!

Ooof this was choppy. I wish it were better edited. Sometimes I truly didn’t realize when the scene changed or time passed due to the writing. There’s potential. But still the issues were glaring. Sadly I will not be thinking of this. But I’ll read books by this author, I really believe it’ll get better!!

I want that unconditional love.. 💭💜

Also before you read this review, there might be some spoilers from the first book "Sweetest Deception" (the other review is also on my account)
I can't believe what happened in this short book.

Seriously I'm always a little skeptical when I pick up a thin book because I don't expect that much plot or character development but WOW this book proved me wrong! Sooooo much happened in this book and I simply could not put it down.
The first book's ending did not only shock my girl Aurora but also me because what on gods green earth did Remo do?! The cliffhanger and the betrayal genuinely shoved the story into the right direction and I'm so happy with the plot I got from the second book.

I'm also so HAPPY to say that 'Bitter Deception' is the good and healthy type of dark romance that l've missed so much. I have a really hard time enjoying dark romance (for obvious reasons..) and I'm glad that _akwaah_ managed to write it with the perfect amount of morally grey that isn't over the top.

If you're new to dark romance or currently looking for a 'healthy' & genuinely good dark romance book, then I highly recommend reading the 'deception series' 💜

I'm a huge fan of groveling and MY GOODNESS REMO FREAKING CAINN! 😫 can you imagine a grumpy big buff man LITERALLY on his knees for his sweet little sunshine wife? Trust me, you'll love this!

I just wish these books were longer because I wanted to get attached to the characters more and everything happened pretty fast. But nonetheless I'm glad I picked up this duet and I'm onto the third book 'Darkest Deception' which is about Aurora's mean big sister and Remo's Hacker friend 👀💚 this gon be good~

4⭐️| I had the great opportunity to continue reading RemoxAurora‘s story and I wasn’t disappointed. This book fulfilled all my previous expectations and needs.

🚨*SPOILER AHEAD**🚨

I loved this book so much and am so sad that RemoxAurora‘s story is over but nonetheless I am so excited for the 3rd book in this series!!

@akwaah did such an amazing job and ended their story so beautifully ( epilogue 🥲). This book literally had everything that she promised us. The groveling, emotions, betrayal and the heartbreak. I was so excited reading this book and finished reading it in less than 48 hours with nothing but happy tears because Aurora deserves a happy ending.

I feel like in this book we got to experience how Aurora and Remo, especially him, dealt with and faced their emotions and the trials and tribulations that developed throughout book one and this. As I said, especially reading more from Remo’s POV made me understand him more as a character since we didn’t get much of him and his thoughts in book one. And let me tell you, Remo had a HUGE character development 🤌. What I absolutely loved is reading Remo fight and win Aurora back and everything being reversed!!! This man was shamelessly in love with Aurora and calling her a apart of his soul, how did he go from ignoring her to being deeply in love ( I told you character development was on top).

“It’s fucking scary at how I feel, and these emotions suddenly feel too much.”

“I lost a part of my soul to Aurora, and I can’t do a damn thing about it.”

“A smile touches my lips.My life.My empress. My very own goddess.”

“I know she is the woman of my fucking dreams.”

This book was more focused on their relationship than the plot but is still enjoyed reading it and the storyline was still amazingly written!!
Now we come to HELIA. I know he did some things wrong and so on but guys I just can’t hate him… I would love to read more about him. So please @akwaah give this man a book 😪🫵

- all in all this book was written beautifully and I’m going to miss RemoxAurora so much. Again a huge thank you to @akwaah for the ARC and I’m looking forward to read the rest of the series !! 🫶🤍

not gonna lie... it was a very basic read. I'm pretty much satisfied with the groveling though things were predictable, it wasn't a bad read but not a binge read for me.

some of my favourite quotes/parts,

★ "You're right. I don't like you. In fact, I hate you. I hate your smile, your laugh, your touch. I hate that it makes me want to fuck you for hours, letting my ruthless side conquer you so you are only mine. I hate the ribbons in your hair, which I want to use to tie your hands up while I fuck you into oblivion. I hate the heels you wear that make me want to run my hands over your legs until I've reached heaven on earth."

★ "Te amo abbastanza da morire per te." I love you enough to die for you 🥹

★ "Lie back, Aurora, let me make promises to you."
—SCREAMING WITHOUT THE S

★ "You grow and shine while I water the very soil you are planted in. You glow and sparkle, and I guard you from the shadows. You smile and laugh, and I cherish it. You love me, and I will give it right back to you. Because if you don't exist, neither will I. If you aren't with me, there is no use of me. You live, and I'll protect you, Aurora."
—I LOVE THIS SM

★ "My beautiful, beautiful Aurora. My wife, my woman."
—andddd this line made me swoon like a snail going back into it's shell ><

-

while helia was a pain in the arse, i would love love love to read his book 'cause he's psychopathic and unhinged and I have special place in my kidneys for the likes of it. so I'm hoping the next book's gonna be helia's <3

Akwaah K was not kidding, this really was an epic ending to Aurora’s and Remo’s love story.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️|🌶️🌶️

The way the plot went from 📈 to 📉 basically every chapter, gave me emotional whiplash. One second everything was great or getting better, something would happen and everything went downhill. The misunderstandings on Remo’s part were also a bit annoying. All he had to do was talk to her. I honestly don’t know how Aurora didn’t have a heart attack with the way he was stressing her heart so much. One second she’s forgiving him and the next she finds out something upsetting that’s heartbreaking or that he’s keeping things from her again. She’s honestly so strong for that.

That ending was perfect. Aurora deserves her happily ever after especially with everything that she’s been through and she got it! Remo was also so sweet in this one. He knows he messed up, lost her trust and did everything he could to try to win that trust back. He also became such a wordsmith and so romantic.

This book picked up right where it left off in book one.

From grovelling to secrets, to planning and plotting and also to make efforts to win her back. This book gave the ending Remo & Aurora deserved.

The twists and turns that came from left and right throughout the books kept me engaged as a reader. The revelations were not expected but everything did piece up properly by the end.

I can read 100 more pages of “my wife” of its Remo who says it.

This book doesn't make any sense whatsoever. The characters are irritating. It wasn't necessary for there to be two books. The FMC was quick to forgive the MMC, and don't even get me started on the guy omfg whenever he opened his mouth I wanted to punch him.

When I tell you Aurora is the weakest and dumbest FMC I've read out of 400 books. I mean it.
The only reason I completed this book was because I had started the 1st one and my brain can't handle a story ending by a cliffhanger.
I love love loved her other book "Tangle of Obsession" but couldn't even like this one for the hell of it.

After finishing the first book, I was at 3 stars. In my personal opinion, the book had potential with a unique plot/ storyline, but the writing and flow of the book massively let it down.

The best way to describe the writing.. it’s like reading a constant synopsis of a book, and then it keeps skipping and moving on to something completely different. It moves way too fast and is unexplained. An example from the first book.. they were eating dinner randomly, the next day they were married. He doesn’t like her.. next thing you know she’s everything to him. The plot was strung along in between but was underdeveloped.

After leaving the book on a cliffhanger I was Intrigued to the second book. However you quickly realise it’s the same. Nothing develops and the characters talk about the same repetitive nonsense. It’s not realistic, and it’s overly dramatic without explaining anything?? Even for fictional characters.

After the cliffhanger from the first book you quickly realise doesn’t make sense. The books aren’t that deceptive and it isn’t as juicy as it could be because of the writing style. It’s underdeveloped and massively rushed. Different plots thrown together to make it something bigger than it actually is. The romance doesn’t even make sense, and I started out really liking the characters. They are absolutely cringe, and for Remo supposedly being this scary strong male, he acted like a B*tch all the way through.

The ending was not good and again rushed with a basic generic ending. So much lack of communication I think I need therapy.

BTW I really wanted to like this one despite the writing flaws.

💫ARC Book Review💫

📖 BITTER DECEPTION by Akwaah K.
>Book 2 in the Deception Series.(Book 1: Sweetest Deception)

This is book was one of my most anticipated books this year, I've waited months for it and I shrieked with happiness when I came to know that I've been provided with an ARC of this amazing book.

I've absolutely no doubt devoured Sweetest Deception but damn the second book was the end of me!!!!
Everything was just so perfect, the groveling, the regrets, the love, the hate, relationships, slowburn. Everything was just so on point.

Remo  oh Remo!!! He was so in love!! My man♡

Aurora, THE QUEENIE♡ The absolute perfection. Ngl but I loved Aurora more than Remo! (Sorry! Remo daddy hehe!) I can so much relate to the vibes of Aurora, the most beautiful girly in the frictional world. It's been always a fictional man who wins my heart but this time, in this book it was Aurora, who I fell in love with.

I can't wait for you guys to read this amazing book.💗

RATING:
4.5/5⭐

TROPES:

- Marriage of convenience,
- Marriage in trouble,
- Sign the Divorce papers,
- Groveling,
- Touch her and you die,
- London Elite,
- Billionaire Romance.
- Contemporary Romance with a spice of Dark Romance.

So be prepared to feel a lot of emotions, heartbreaks, grovelling, jealousy because damn you're gonna love it,  I'm so sure about this.

Thank you Author for providing me the ARC! I'd love to read more of your future coming books💌

HEA
See i waited for this part 2 book
Part 1 was goood i love Grumpy MC so i had highh hopes 😑
But the problem i felt is
Book has too much repetition words and too much repeated Dialogues with same semantics
the use of SWEET DECEPTION word how many times was it ... Author just wanna Add the title to meaningless Lines

I felt bored
I mean REMO once saying i will protect auroroa is enough to give butterflies
But evry alternative paragraph has same Lines same repeationsame stry line i wil protect but he can't same old same old

And Godd Communication barrier and i felt some pale Stry line
Like i thought it wil be very intresting Revenge n all

Just for REM past i didn't feel wow like didnt feel Surprised even with AURORA stalker
All too much predictable
Aurora crying evry other damn line
REM not trying to explain
And Helia stry was pale didnt even understand his prob and Aurora family just vanished

See rem is addicted to his wife yes but there should be some communication it felt forced dialogue just scammed frm all books n dumped into stry line

I had high hopes after book 1
But i just completed sorely becoz i bought it nothing more

Some felt good
Like how aurara had felt has her love and HOW REM does everything for her that's all

I feel author just added a ton of same dialogues same words and some all books mixed
And no surprise elementz to back it

Only gave 2 becoz REM & AURORA LOVE
And his dedication

★★★★☆

*this review is for both books as a collective whole*

I loved Remo and Aurora's duet. Their dynamic as a couple was great. I'm a sucker for angsty, arranged marriages and these two went through it. Aurora is such an it-girl. She's truly in tune with what she wants out of her profession as an artist and now her marriage with Remo. She's so sweet and her family doesn't deserve her.

Remo is said to be a morally grey person, more towards dark. We do see a bit of that dark cloud in book 1, more so in book 2, since Aurora is dealing with a stalker. Remo will do anything to protect her and we read about that in book 2.

Book 1 is lighter than book 2. The roles of who is fighting to make the marriage work have flipped slightly. Remo fights more for his marriage with Aurora in book 2 (Aurora still is but does so more in book 1). You truly don't know - at some points - if you want them to stay together or divorce. Their relationship is just so complex and the plot twists bring everything into chaos to finally simmer at the end for their HEA.

✨️𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬+𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒔✨️
- age gap, angsty romance, artist romance, arranged marriage, billionaire romance, forced proximity, grumpy x sunshine, he likes to spoil her, marriage of convenience, mutual pining, opposites attract, marriage in trouble, romantic suspense
- praise, mental health rep

Remo and Aurora❤️❤️❤️❤️✨️
spice 🔥🔥/5
Their story here starts with a heartbreak and how they are going to forgive each other and be the one to each other maybe I can say that the first book was better because they're a story was their characters was different a little bit from the direction in this book cuz here it's you know like it turned to just a mafia marriage of convenience like it's not hey handsome in the beautiful Aurora that she's always there for him always good old I don't know she's still good I love the book but not what I expected
Primo found his sister Venezia and in the end of the book they got a little daughter called
✨️Lavinia✨️ actually I loved the name like oh my God
I love how how they get rid of a hair stalker I loved how they forgive each other another time and I loved how Remo tried so much better than I thought he would just for Aurora to know that he loves her and that he's not going to dump her or divorce her after their Arrangement is done I I wish that the book took another you know like Darren a little bit in some scenes but I liked it as it is you know but I thought it would be so much better yeah I guess that their story was so special to me that why I thought that it would be so much better but I like them and bye tell another time

💜✨ARC Book Review ✨💜

Bitter Deception words cannot even describe how much I loved this book so much!!!
When I read the first book I had LITERALLY devoured it in one sitting, and so badly couldn’t wait till book 2 came out.

Bitter deception has been my most anticipated reads of 2024 so far. When I got that email saying I had been selected for the ARC reader my jaw LITERALLY dropped, I was so happy and excited to read this book 🥹💜

This book was just 10x better than Sweetest Deception, everything was just so beautiful and the characters were so beautifully written. Everything was just perfect, from the grovelling, to the cute scenes, the love and the confessions. Everything was just chefs kiss 🤌🏻✨

Get your tissues ready, because this book will make you go on a rollercoaster of emotions, the love, the heartbreaks and the jealousy, don’t get me started on that, your going to love it so much!!!

This book doesn’t deserve five stars, for me it deserves infinity 💜♾️💜

I cannot wait for everyone else to read this beautiful book. 💕

Some of my favourite quotes:

“You grow and shine while I water the very soil you are planted in. You glow and sparkle, and I guard you from the shadows. You smile and laugh, and I cherish it. You love me, and I will give it right back to you. Because if you don’t exist, neither will I. If you aren’t with me, there is no use of me. You live, and I’ll protect you, Aurora.”

To the lovely author, thank you so much for giving me the ARC❤️ I can’t wait to read more of your books in the future 🥰🥰

Akwaah has done it again.

The author has her way with words, an excellent story-teller. From the first page, I was captivated and I'm not embarrassed to admit that I've read it in one sitting.

The first book left me yearning for more, and the sequel definitely delivered what I was looking for. The story of Aurora and Remo was deliciously written, with a lot of angst to keep me squealing like a little girl. Their growth, both individual and as a couple was definitely shown and I'm very happy that I got the chance to see it first-hand.

If she decided to write another eight books about this couple, it wouldn't be enough for me.

Often, I found myself relating to Aurora, while feeling compassion for Remo. Their individual personalities were well explored and I was left satisfied with the outcome. And in the end, their happily ever after brought me so much immense joy.

Can't wait to read the third book in the series.

I just love both of them so so much...
This book was a complete package..
Why is this duet not trending on Instagram and Tiktok, this book deserves so much more recognition...

5⭐ for REMO
4⭐ For Narration

*It felt so cold, so lonely that I didn’t realise my world before her was so quiet, so empty, so bleak.
She came rushing in, with her chaos, her love for baking, her chatter about everything and anything, and her love for fashion. She threw a rainbow of colours all around my house, every inch filled with her, her laugh causing my heart to fall to her feet.
Aurora. My wife.

*If it was in my hands, I would turn the world upside down, burn it to flames for him, then lay myself down as a sacrifice. It’s scary just how much I would do to see him smile at me.

*There’s the smile I love. I need your smiles to live, baby. It’s not even negotiable because I have become addicted.”

*My sweet deception, I will never regret keeping you.”

I did not expect that. It hurt so good that I have a both hate and love relationship with this book. But I have to say the grovelling made up for everything. I absolutely love this authors writing style. The plot was definitely plotting and so flawy that it swipes you off your feet. Literally, no words. It was jaw droopingly good. And I want to see more of Helia so badly! ( I hope I spelt his name correctly, but you know who I’m talking about) 😉

Normal, I’m hesitant to read books by authors who fairly new because they tend to turn out not so good or most of the time the writing doesn’t make sense, but trust me this author deserves the spotlight. I felt like I was reading a book by someone who was an author for a long time, and I can say that I was a little disappointed to know that she only had a couple books.

Anyway, Ms author you have just gained a hard core fan! 😍😍😍🫶🫶🫶 btw absolutely loved your work, keep going! Your fans are proud of you!

AAAAANd that's a wrap for this duet 🤭

I'll admit, I LOVE the "heroine in danger" trope because we get to see how the hero reacts when he gets to know about it. and Akwaah COMPLETELY outdid herself here.

The story picks up from where it ends in book 1. Remo realizes that what he was about to do was wrong and that he needs to earn Aurora's trust back. And I LOVEDDDD how much she made him work for it. She literally made him grovel for her smiles and damn if that's not my cup of tea. I. ATE. IT. ALL. UP.

I liked how the stalker trope was not merely kept as a side plot but the whole plot twist was based around it. The scenes where we get to see Remo's protective side? IN LOVE.

I enjoyed the duet a LOT and I'm so excited to see where Helia & Ambrose's story goes because I think they MIGHT have a past ;)

Thank you Akwaah K. for sending me this ARC!

I really enjoyed Sweet Deception, the first book in this duet, but I must say I liked Bitter Deception even more! It starts right where the previous book ended and there is a lot happening since the first page. I love Aurora and Remo, they are amazing together and it was great to see them grow even closer. There was some groveling from Remo which I loved and once they worked out their issues, they had such a beautiful romance. The plot was pretty fast paced with a lot of action and some plot twists, there was not a single boring moment and I liked how some things I hoped for since the first book finally happened. Bitter Deception is a really great sequel to Sweet Deception, I enjoyed it and am excited to read this author’s next books.

I read the first book sweetest deception when it first came out and I was in LOVE. So when it was left on a cliffhanger I was excited for the second. Safe to say it was terrible. The dialogue made me cringe so hard I had to put the book down for days before picking it up to finish it again. The scenes were so confusing. One minute she is upset next minute they are on a boat. Just very confusing . I understand using the title in the dialogue to create effect and suspense but the amount of times they used it here made me physically cringe and laugh and made me experience second hand embarrassment. Like it was sad how cringey it was. It felt like someone was just speaking . It is genuinely disappointing

Akwaah didn't disappoint with the sequel. The book has a great combination of suspense, romance and a touch of darkness.
Remo is an epitome of a possesive character. He is not much of a morally grey MMC but his dialogues will hit the right places. But, I would have loved more grovelling from him.
Now, Aurora's character is portrayed very nicely in this book too but it would have been nice to see some more badass energy of hers. I expect that she will not forgive Remo this easily and will make him work for it. But alas there was not much.
The chemistry was hot between the two and just fitted the plot amazingly.
Overall, a nice book. Waiting for the next book in the series.
