I love this series! It is clever, whimsical and full of magic. It is the only series that I read that I smile with each book that I read. To me, that is a priceless gift Victoria Danann is able to impart with each story. Magic!

Hmm..

I loved every book in this series, but there were things in this story that stopped me from giving it 5 stars. The spelling, grammar, and editing errors were vast. Names were wrong, which made me so confused. But most of all, the ending was horrible, just ended abruptly. Usually you know if there's going to be another book because of the way it ends. But so many side characters were left up in the air, like the werewolf.

I was looking forward to reading this book, but now that I have, I'm left feeling empty. I've read so many of Victoria Danann's books and loved them, but not this story I'm sad to say.

Read this most recent addition to the #nottoolateseries by #victoriadanaan.

Disappointed. So disappointed.

This series was a great idea, and I deeply loved the first several books. Then there was a kerfuffle with the #trialsoftregeagle book that was supposed to come out in December, disappeared from the list of coming books, then came out without explanation much later. The last two books (which included this one) could have been one book, not split in half at a weird place and turned into two.

The last several books were RIFE with misspellings, punctuation mishaps, text size changes for no compelling reason, and typos in general. In the first three chapters of this book alone I ran into no less than a dozen. It’s like there’s been no editing at all. Random side stories, some which mighty even be funny, bear little relationship to the rest of the story. And the entire ending of this book was pointless; it literally just ended mid-conversation. 🤷🏼‍♀️

So disappointed. Do not recommend unless you have the patience of a saint.

Good…

I am sorry, Victoria, but this will be a double-edged review.

Before I get to that I want to state that I ALWAYS try to be fair to everyone, ESPECIALLY my beloved authors; they have more courage and imagination than I ever will and I am grateful for all of their efforts to bring readers into a world that doesn’t really exist to make someone’s life just a little bit extra special, if only for a scant few moments. Thank you for all that you do.

With that in mind, I also have to review the books that I read as impartially as possible if I am to be fair to both the author and readers alike.

This book (Parts I & II) is not my favorite in this series. They read more like novella’s than a comprehensive work and it was a bit sloppy. There were many typos in BOTH books, and the court cases seemed truncated. I wasn’t thrilled about the interactions with her daughter towards the end, and things just seemed under-developed with all the potential. Putting Medusa on trial was a great idea! What actually happened, a bit underwhelming. It just seemed like this book was a bit under-developed, ESPECIALLY considering the fact that it came in two parts! If anything, I would expect that would mean the author would take extra time to give the book a bit extra oomph. I could go on, but this isn’t about smashing something to bits, and as a fan, I would never do that. But in all fairness, not one of Victoria’s best efforts, even though it is good. Just not on par with her other works. Hopefully, the next book will blow us away? (Praying hands emoji)

Favored series Spoilers

I enjoy seeing all the mythologies blended together. I truly love when new creatures and supernaturals pop up, like Cinderella. It makes sense that the thriving existence of fae and Gods requires some human belief. Although they believe themselves above humanity on the food chain they tolerate us. Cinderella existed perpetually in a storybook then with a deep seated need to ‘be more’ she willed herself into Faery.
I’m not sure if my kindle app was problematic or the editing was off. There were a few sentences that had repeated words and extra conjunctions. Unfortunately for me it continued enough that it kept throwing me out of the story. One particular statement indicated that Rita didn’t recognize a plaintiff but indicated he was friendly and well liked as if she had some recollection of his presence. I read that a few times and I think I get what was meant. As if if he had been she would have noticed because he appeared genial. Also I had a map of the house in my head which was blown to bits when the ‘seat if power’ was to the left of the fireplace. Once the hallway, mud room and Romeo’s room laid out I was upset I could not change my mental picture to fit these details. This would have been better for me in a much earlier book. As it is now in my head a comfy crowded home with a garage open off the kitchen. I even included space for the new solarium in my mental layout with nothing but a thought.
I think I truly enjoy court days and kind of want more cases to be heard. Loki could certainly use time in a miss manners class. Force him to be human for a few decades. If he is so desperate for a life coach then he needs to show better improvement if for no other reason than to garner more help from Rita.
Vuk the werewolf is another new character and her ex-husband has shown his face as well. All 3 men are entirely too cocky and self centered. And I don’t know why Rita is being disrespected by them. Ultimately I love the series and will stick with it a bit longer.

A FANTASTIC CONCLUSION TO THE SERIES‼️As expected, Victoria Danann hit the nail on the head with the world build! Also, originality! Once again, I totally engrossed myself into this amazing book from beginning to end. The description was so good, 👌 I visualized everything!!! I adored the FMC. I loved the interactions, the banter so much, and how the storyline progressed wrapping up this series with the humorous prose this author delivers. Although it feels sad to see this story concluding, it goes out fluidly and takes you on an escapade full of drama, action, and suspense. A great tale. I don't do spoilers because it takes away from the story, but the blurb gives you a good prologue. I highly recommend this series up to and including this book! Thank you, Ms. Danann and I can't wait for the next adventure! @victoriadanonn #hallowhill

Absolutely Love This Series!

Rita Hayworth is one of my all time favorite characters! I devoured this whole series in less than a week. The series is unique, very well written and a definite page turner. Victoria Danann did an incredible job of world building and her characters are ones I would love to have as friends. Rita is down to earth, funny, has a fair sense of right vs wrong, loves with her whole heart and even wants the best for everyone, not just those she is close to. This is book 8 and I am really hoping there is at least one more book coming in this series. Go get your copies of this series and enjoy!

I really have enjoyed this series over the years, but must admit to being disappointed in this last story. The ending in book 8 is abrupt and terrible, and the whole story could use one more run past an editor for things like descriptions of items or conversations not matching how they'd previously been described. The lack of clarity of voice on the Medusa background information in book 7 was jarring, as was the wrapup of the Cole story line. Another copyediting pass wouldn't be amiss either. Overall I still really enjoy these stories. I'm just disappointed by the lack of "finish", for lack of a better term.

Samhain Court

So far as the story goes I'm giving this 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. Rita is still in a coma and the Samhain Court is only a few days away. This book doesn't feel like it has the breadth of characters we are used to and honestly, felt a little flat, but I enjoyed the court proceedings as always and we did get a little more background on some well loved characters.

Not part of my review as I'm not sure it's entirely the fault of the author is the appalling formatting of the book and the many spelling and punctuation errors.

Abbott and Costello/then predictable ending

First, I love Victoria's books, her writing, and her stories. This needed a little better proofreading. These last two books were formulaic and not all that creative. It read like a contract that needed to be fulfilled. Also, the second part of the book coming out in February for Samhain court was ill-timed. I wish I could give a better review. I have read everything she has written except the high school books. I hope to read her future endeavors and would love to see the expansion of the MC series.

Back to Goodness

This was a lovely return to what made the series so amazing to begin with.
Special bonus because we were also treated to several characters we hadn’t heard from in quite some time.
Biggest gripe, lack of resolution! We never did learn why Vuk took a sudden interest in Rita or if there were more werewolves around like Evie insinuated.
Also what was the favor from the Oracle? Will we ever learn what she had to give up?
Why weren’t we given an update about Esme and the dating of Keir’s brother?

Good story if you can get past the many editing errors

It pains me to read a story that has so many spelling and grammatical errors. I really enjoyed the series and enjoyed the story from this addition as well, however, some of the errors were so bad that it changed the context of what the writer was saying. If the Kindle had the capability, I would’ve edited this as I read it and sent it back to the author, lol.

Rita finds herself in danger again. I love how her community and friends come together to help her. The addition of new characters keeps the series fresh and exciting. I love Jeff and feel that he gave a lot of himself to help Rita. I enjoyed how the dogs were utilized for their magical abilities and would love to see them involved more. The courtroom scenes impart amusement and integrity to the book.

A seriously good series!

I really like this author and look forward to more from both this series and any other from her. My only complaint about this book is that there are some very bad editing flaws that should really have been picked up, but they do not detract from the flow of the tale.
The story here is the 2nd half and continues right where the other left off but leaves it where more is to come!!

Disappointed

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series " Not To Late" and waited on pins and needles for the next book to come out. I have also enjoyed this last one except for the fact that it felt rushed and incomplete. The storyline was pushed so quickly that it seemed as if the author couldn't get it finished fast enough. So disappointed, and the ending just needs MORE! Also, to wait so long for the next installment and then PAY for that !?

The characters are cute to follow in this next section. I still enjoy the courtroom antics. But it doesn't feel like a full book. The ending left me thinking everything just stops in a weird place and I'm missing pages. I was left feeling like I had opened a book in the middle, read a small section, then lost the book and haven't finished it. Still interested in what happens next with these unique fun characters.

The conclusion of Hallow Hill At Halloween wrapped up the story nicely. Very surprising new information about Jeff and I can't wait to see how Ms. Danann takes this new information moving forward. Rita's rescue and the Samhain court docket provided some entertainment. I had looked forward to this book, but I found it a little disappointing with several typos, only three cases on the court docket and Rita's misuse of Evie's amulet. Some fun but not as much as in previous books.

World building

This is a must read but not a standalone. If you have Hallow Hill at Halloween Part 1, you must read this book. There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t know what was going to happen next. Loved the redemption aspect of this story with two of the court cases. I wanted to know how it was going to end that I just kept reading. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Love the ongoing story, but last two books were so badly edited. A whole chunk was obviously cut and pasted in the wrong place. The spelling and grammar were so bad that it takes you out of the story at times, because it's necessary to reread some sentences.

ALSO, part I and part II should have been one book. Author spent SO MANY WORDS explaining what happened already. It's insulting to the reader and I'm very disappointed.

I liked this book more than the Part One of the group. I agree with other reviewers that there were quite a few editing and formatting errors that made for some confusion in the reading. I did not include those in the rating though.

I enjoyed the inclusion of well-known characters in the trial series. Seeing Cinderella in a completely different light was fun. Many parts of the storyline felt unfinished and "forgotten" though. The actual ending left quite a bit to be desired.

Great story,,poor edit

The plot and story are great but felt rushed. There was a general lack of editing that was not present in the first books. Victoria is a great story teller but needs to pay
attention to the small details. When you have a book as large as these two combined a little more time may be required.

Not enough

I've read lots of books by this author and enjoyed them. I love this series and am very disappointed in this book. The editing is sloppy or non-existing with words doubling and misspellings. I got the distinct feeling the author is tired of this world she created and wants to move on. No reason for two books or the abrupt.ending. Disappointing.

Hair Raising! Very Detailed!

I always love visiting Tregeagle. We find Rita is in a coma controlled by Medusa. Oh my goodness. What they have to do to save her is a bit hair raising. I love all the different trials also. The detail that VD gives, makes this story even better. Give yourself a treat and start reading now! From a Forever Fan... Pam James.

I LOVE, LOVE THIS SERIES!!

Great series, but...

I love this series! The characters are amazing and fun and the premise is interesting. This book, however, was very poorly edited/proofread, seriously detracting from the enjoyment of reading it. The story was also choppy with an extremely abrupt ending. The author's previous books in this series were substantially better. This one was a disappointment.

That’s the end?

The listing states 8 of 8. If this is the last it surely falls flat. We all like the last in a series whether it’s a book, tv show or movie to wrap things up in a metaphorical bow. This book is just a good as the previous books but it just seems as if you’re waiting for the next. Too many loose ends and unanswered questions.

A good story but technically not so much

As are all of MS Danann's books, this is a good story. However, the editing is not up to par. There are misspellings , words left out , and words added that shouldn't be there. I found this distracting while reading.

I love this series. However, the characters in this particular book seemed off. The editing was a bit lacking. I am hoping that it was just because of a rushed deadline and not a sign of things to come. Grammar and consistency are lacking in more and more books lately.

This was not my favorite installment of a story I have previously enjoyed. It simply didn’t move the story forward.
I lost count of how many typos and misspelled words there are. Sloppy and distracting.

Very. Very short story

I do love this series very much. This particular book barely got started, rushed through some at home, and then barely a village scene. We enter the court..poof, story over. I wonder why the Hallow Hill at Halloween book was divided in two?
