Very cute book! I would get this book for my classroom or child. This book is about kindness and would be a great way to discuss how to be a good friend.

Pete the Cat is back and he is grooving down the street on the way to get a treat from the ice cream truck. Along the way Pete encounters several friends who need his help. Pete knows the right thing to do, but he is worried about missing out on the treat he's been looking forward to. Does Pete do the right thing? Of course he does! Fans will rejoice in the familiar rhythmic, rhyming, predictable text that makes Pete the Cat books so much fun to share out loud. The bright illustrations draw young readers in and may inspire art of their own. Pete knows, "It's cool to be kind," and who doesn't want to share that message in their own family, classroom, or community?

Not my favorite Pete the Cat book but still really cute. This has a great message about not being in a rush and taking the time to be kind. It's a little too saccharine for me but Pete the Cat fans will enjoy it! It's actually less about ice cream than one would think based on the title haha

I received an electronic ARC from Harper Collins through SLJ Picture Book Palooza July 2024.
Pete is back and reminding readers it's important to be kind. He is on a mission to get to the ice cream truck but recognizes he needs to be there for his friends along the way. I like the refrain of "You're one kind cat!" and how it changes to remind readers they all need to be kind to finish the story.

Pete the Cat is on his way to get some ice cream and must meet the Just Chillin ice cream truck on time. With each step he takes, he stops to help a friend along the way, and thinks he will be late to meet the ice cream truck. But to Pete the Cat's surprise he learns a valuable lesson.

Loved this and so did the kids whom I read this for storytime. Love Pete the Cat and this book did not disappoint. Illustrations are your regular ol' Pete the Cat illustrations.
