Loved it

Well, that was a swoony little treat! Elsie Silver fans are sure to love this grumpy single dad romance, which had similar vibes but a fresh, distinct feel. I adored the secretly sweet hero, who genuinely felt like he would never be enough for our strong and determined heroine. She knocked him off-balance the first time they met, and every chemistry-filled interaction just brings them closer. I loved the vulnerability our hero showed and the way he was steadfast in his feelings. The banter was playful, and the slowish burn shifted into a truly spicy read. It reminded me of Silver’s work in the best ways, and I’m eager to see where the series goes next - this was great.

The story follows James, a woman who works in a male-dominated industry. She grew up on a horse ranch and always believed that she’d take over as the lead trainer one day, but it’s become clear that her father will never give that job to a woman. Finally ready to move on, James accepts a position at a horse ranch out of state. She’ll be working with a horse who has proven to be difficult, under the supervision of the owner’s son, Adam. The man is always scowling and hesitant to let James in, but she soon discovers that he’s just got resting grump face. Adam is kind and loving with his son, and he seems to appreciate James’ training skills. But they both have their reasons to avoid crossing any lines, and that could prove to be trouble.

Bright is a new-to-me author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect diving in, but this grabbed my attention almost immediately. It was clear that both James and Adam were compelling characters, and they had an instant spark. I also loved that the story remains light overall, but isn’t afraid to dig deeper. Adam’s heart has never recovered from the end of his marriage, and neither has his self-esteem. He’s been left to feel like he’ll never be enough for any woman, let alone one as perfect for him as James. That causes just enough tension to keep things interesting, while also making it clear how good they are for each other. There’s some definite swoon and spice, especially when Adam allows himself to be vulnerable. I love a moody, broody cowboy who reveals himself to be soft and tender underneath the gruff, and that’s exactly what we’ve got here. There’s also a great supporting cast of characters, with breadcrumbs sprinkled throughout about future couples. I am absolutely intrigued - this was a very solid series starter, and an exceedingly bingeable read.

POV - Dual 👫🏻

“For anyone who thought they had found their happily-ever-after only to watch it explode in their face... Good news, my love. You're not done yet.”

I’m a simple Gal. Cowboys, and Donuts, that’s all I ask for. And when I tell you Elizabeth delivered on the Cowboy(s) 😏
This was my first read by Elizabeth Bright, and I couldn’t get enough. I finished this book in like, a day? I hated having to put it down. This was such a smooth, easy read with a story they kept on flowing beautifully.

We have James, a strong FMC who knows her worth but is fighting for her dad to see it too. She wants to work at their family business, Blue Skies farm and be head horse trainer, but gets over looked and passed up. So what does she do? She goes where she’s wanted. And that just so happens to be at Lodestar Ranch in Colorado.
And that my friends, is where Adam comes in. He’s a grumpy cowboy & single dad, with a past relationship that really did him in. He believes that your one true love only happens once in life, and that already happened to him..Right?
So when he finds out James, in her cute pink cowboy boots, is the new trainer..? This girl thinks she’s going to be able to ride the unridable Palimino “Belle the Beast”? Well here’s the thing. James doesn’t back down from a fight, and most certainly won’t stay down if thrown off a horse. All it takes is a little patience, hope and most importantly, work to rebuild that trust and create a bond with Ad..Belle. Belle, the horse. 😁

This story gives playful banter, sentiment, swoon worthy moments, laughs and downright tugs on all your heart strings.
The supporting characters through out this book were immaculate and had me wanting to know more about them and their backstories.
- The brothers?? I need their books ASAP, I haven’t picked who’s my favorite yet.
- Hannah? I laughed out loud 🪡🧵❤️ easily one of my fav characters.
- Chloe and Essie? The best of friends we all need, and want in our lives.
- And of course we can’t forget Ted and his sandwich making skills. 😉

This beautiful story will leave you grasping at the reigns for more..and you just so happen to be in luck…😉
Buuuut in the meantime, In the words of Chloe, “Save a horse…Save so many horses.” 😜💕

HUGE Thank You to Elizabeth Bright for this ARC. I can’t wait for what more you have to come, and I’ll be on the sidelines cheering you on as you go! 👏🏻❤️

The way I CANNOT BELIEVE NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS BOOK. Like, friends... We love Elsie, and Melanie, and Lena, and Hannah.... We need to add Elizabeth to the list of authors that write THE BEST steamy and swoony western romances.
.
I am utterly obsessed with this book! I finally had to drag myself away from my kindle at 3am and was immediately back to reading when I woke up the next morning. The grumpy sunshine goodness that was packed into the pages was SO fun to read. The whole only soft for her, she makes him want to be a better person, he’s her biggest supporter vibes that Adam and James had going is my FAVORITE and I was cheesing for most of the book. Throw in the hot cowboy, single dad romance vibes and you already know I was sold.
.
I’ve read a bunch of cowboy romances and even more single dad romances... and this is definitely one of my favorites! A must read!

A Cowboy in the Streets
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.75)

Thank you Elizabeth Bright and her team for giving me that opportunity to receive an eARC of this book. I am so very glad I was able to read this and read her work for the first time.

Oh my. I ate this up. I LOVE MYSELF A GRUMPY COWBOY. Such a perfect grumpy x sunshine book if you need one. Like I loved this book so much. One of my new favorite cowboy romances for sure this year. Like wow.

I really liked James character so much. She was such a positive character, a badass horse trainer, an ambitious woman. I just adored her. She was one head strong FMC who knew what she wanted and she went for it and got what she deserved even when she was unsure of it.

Adam. Oh Adam. That man deserves everything even when he doesn’t think so. He’s a single dad, grumpy cowboy, a very closed off man who I wanted to give a hug to so many times. His mouth? Don’t even get me started on the way this man speaks because I will fall on the floor and melt in a puddle or get on my knees.

I absolutely admired and loved how the relationship between the two unraveled and was created. They were each others missing piece that they needed to be whole.

This book was just so lovely. A short, quick, and amazing read. I am so thankful I got the opportunity to read this before release. Releases May 31!! (Go get it)

Adam & James -

-yes this is a M/F romance and James is a girl. You'll need to get past that unfortunate monstrosity of name choice. It may be the only thing I did not like about this book. Then he goes and nicknames her Buttercup.

*grumpy sunshine
*single dad / widow-ish
*age gap
*one bed
*boss / employee
*cowboy / horse trainer
*small town

I don't even know where to begin because I was giddy almost the entire book. I loved the banter, the character growth, the insecurities and the strong female lead. If I could swoop inside a fictional world and give a cowboy a hug, it would be Adam. This sweet specimen of a man thought he was not capable or worthy of love because his ex really damaged him. When she fell ill with cancer right after giving birth she decided she wanted to do all the things in life- but without Adam. She lived her final year to her fullest and with another man. He allowed the divorce and let her have her final happiness. It was heart wrenching. For 10 years he has raised his son as a single parent.

James came with her own insecurities because she was a girl working in a man's job as a horse trainer. She was damn good at her job while working for her father on his ranch but was never appreciated. When she was overlooked again for a promotion she took a position working on Adam (and his Father's) ranch.

The sexy banter, their chemistry and the way they just completed each other has made this an easy favorite of the year. The relationship between Adam's son and James was flawless. They became friends well before Adam and James became a couple. The plot was executed to perfection.

Then there is the friend group. Ladies we all need these friends in our lives. I can't hardly wait to read the next in this series when it comes out.

This book is definitely a 4.5 stars. I love the characters, especially James, Adam and Ben. They’re a cute little family, it’s so heartwarming. I loved most of the characters honestly, (except for Steven and James’s dad). The love aspect was really good, I loved seeing their love bloom, and the one bed trope? OH MY GOD! One bed trope literally never fails.

I laughed when Essie put Adam’s hat on her, yes, it was really messy of her but it had to be done. She knew they needed a push and she did just that. I loved when James made a claim on Adam and called her his, it’s so refreshing to see the fmc taking control because it’s always the mmc.

It hurt so bad that Adam got screwed up by Emily, he did not deserve that at all 💔. He thought he wasn’t capable of love, when he definitely was!! I can’t wait for the next book for the series, (hopefully🙏) and I think it’s going to be Essie’s and that other brother (I forgot his name lol).

The reason why I took off .5 stars is because it felt a little too rushed. Everything was happening like BOOM BOOOM BOOM, and I was trying to understand.. but maybe that’s just my slowness.. But nevertheless, I read this book in one day, and loved it!

I have not read this author until now with this book. After reading the blurb I knew I had to read it and Omg, I am so glad I did. This book was sooo good! I loved it!

James and Adam were wonderful characters. I loved the flirty banter and sexual tension between these too. Seeing them interact with each other was amazing. I loved how James was with Adam's son. James was Adam's sunshine to his grumpiness. Haha!
Add in the spice and wow, I was a goner!

The other characters were hilarious too. I love Adam's family ranch and the small town it was apart of. Made me want to visit it if it was real!

This is a must read and I recommend it!

I finished the book within 24 hours, but for 8 of those hours I was sleeping and another 8 I was working. So basically I just devoured it.

Adam Hale truly could win the award for “world’s most grumpiest cowboy”, except when it comes to his to life as a dad . And the exception is going to be changing once again now that there is a new horse trainer on the Lodestar ranch, James .

James just wants to prove her to her dad that she is worth his time but when he passed her up for the head trainer position at their family ranch, James goes to where she is actually wanted . Even if being wanted also comes with a drop dead gorgeous, grouchy as sin, cowboy . Even more so when the training is of the “Belle the Beast” and Adam doesn’t think she can do it .

I read this book in almost one complete go because it was just so good . Adam is the broodiest, swooniest cowboy around and then you have James who is so strong and knows exactly what she brings to this world . The playful banter and swoon worthy moments mixed with the slow burn of it between these two is just *chefs kiss* ! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series !

This is book one in the Lodestar Ranch series and it can be read as a complete standalone .

This book was given to me for honest review by Wildfire Marketing Solutions .

I love a good cowboy romance, and this one checked so many boxes! this was such a fun, quick read. I loved the characters, and there was some really great humor and banter.

I loved Adam SO so so so much oh my gosh😭 protect him at all costs my grumpy lil cowboy.

All of the supporting characters were great, too! Such a good start to the lodestar ranch series, and I can’t wait to see where the other books take these characters as the series continues.

Small-town single dad is my all-time favorite trope, I can never say no to one. But after reading quite a few of them this month, I felt burnt out and frankly sick of that trope. UNTIL this book came along, and oh boy does it manage to stand out. This book exceeded my expectations, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. I love Elizabeth’s writing, it’s witty and freakin’ hilarious, it’s just the kind of humor I enjoy.

Adam the grumpy dad stole my entire heart, he’d been hurt before and thinks he doesn’t believe in love anymore. But he knows that James is special and he couldn’t let her go. I love that he didn’t go into a denial phase for too long, as that usually annoys me so much in a broken MMC. James is just a delight, she knows what she wants and goes for it, she’s definitely not a doormat or pushover, and I can’t express how much I appreciate a heroine like this.

The slow burn in this book was excruciating but oh-my did it pay off🥵 This grumpy daddy got some dirty mouth on him y’all! And the ending! Forget about misunderstanding, we don’t know her. The grand gesture at the end just sealed the deal for me, when the hero does that he’s automatically earned Top-Tier Book Boyfriend Material. I cannot rave enough about this book, if you’re a fan of a small-town single dad or grumpy/sunshine trope, you will love this. I absolutely adore this book, a MUST-READ!

This was a really sweet read ♥️ (but for those who like a little 🌶️ have no fear, this author has you covered).

James has spent her whole life trying to prove to her father that she has what it takes to be a lead trainer on her family ranch. But when he snubs her one too many times, James packs up her bags to take a lead trainer job at Lodestar Ranch. On day one of arriving in town, James has the ultimate embarrassing (but also insanely cute) meet cute with Adam, a scowly cowboy and unbeknownst to James in that moment, her new boss.

Obviously physical attraction is alway going to lead to immediate interest in a person but Elizabeth Bright does a refreshing job of balancing that out with James and Adam getting to know each other. When it comes to that portion of relationship building I’m always going to want more but I also have to remember that romance books can only be so long.

I liked that the author created Adam as the stereotypical tough cowboy but once you pull back the layers he’s a human being who deals with insecurities after being deeply hurt in the past and doesn’t feel good enough. It was done in a way that felt valid instead of the author just reaching for character sympathy. And then we have James who has battled her own version of not feeling like she’s enough, with her dad.

The only thing I wish we would have gotten was a scene at the end where James tells her father where to shove his offer because that man is the definition of THE AUDACITY. But that one missing piece aside, I recommend this to anyone looking for a cowboy romance to read. Can’t wait for book 2 (bring on the enemies to lovers 👏🏻).

ARC Review

It's been a while since I've read a Cowboy Romance and this is my first book by Elizabeth Bright and reading this was like slipping into a Steamy bath that our FMC loves so much. It was heartwarming, emotional, funny and just the perfect amount of heat to give it a nice balance.

James is our spitfire FMC who is dedicated to her craft as a horse trainer and wants nothing more than to prove her value to her father who refuses to acknowledge her skills and is stuck in his antiquated ways. In order to prove she has what it takes she accepts a job as head trainer on a down-on-its luck ranch in Colorado and her whole world changes when she gets her eyes (and lips) on her new boss. She's feisty, takes no crap and isn't afraid to speak her mind. I really enjoyed the friendships she created as she adapted to her new small-town life.

Adam is a grumpy rancher who is doing his best as a single dad, navigating grief and past hurts while trying to pull the family ranch out of the red and back in the big-time. He's devoted to his son and the last thing he ever expected or wanted was to have a woman shake up his whole world, especially his employee. He's broody, hard working, and more than a little jaded when it comes to matters of the heart. But he's also caring and protective of those he holds dear, and definitely lives up to the beast in the sheets part of Chloe's saying. YUM!

I recommend this book if you like:
*Cowboy Romance
*Small-town
*Boss/Employee
*Meddling Family

Thank you so much, Elizabeth Bright for letting me receive an eARC for an honest review. I will definitely be checking out your other books and I am looking forward to book 2 in the fall!!

This was a cute read. I liked the story, overall, but I didn’t think it was executed well.

There are moments that don’t flow as well as I’d like. It’s as if the author knows where she wants to go, but doesn’t quite know how to get there, so she forces it.

Lots of word repetition, especially in small sections. Sometimes it could’ve been fixed by restructuring sentences. Other times, swapping out certain descriptors.

There were a few instances where the author was just really trying to bring certain points home. We get it. Her dad is a chauvinist. Adam has an aching erection. She has big boobs. We didn’t need it repeated so many times.

There was a bit of inconsistency on the timing. From one week to two to a month. But based on the events and when they were described to have happened, we shouldn’t be a month in. At one point they’d known each other for several months, then later on it was back to two months.

There were a couple off-putting moments. When they briefly discussed the “size” of his brothers. When Essie (knowing James is into Adam) flirts with him. I get the reason, but a friend wouldn’t flirt with my man.

Some of the aspects I’d think would be important (an 11-year-old son, a dead ex love and reading her journals, deciding not to go back to the family ranch) were glossed over. Then the end felt rushed. Age gap was listed as a trope, but we never even talked about it.

I need you to drop everything and go read it! This was my first book by Elizabeth but it will not be my last!! I ate this book UP!

James has lived her entire life trying to prove to her dad that a girl can make it in the ranch world. She is now one a known horse trainer, but when her dad passes over her for the job at her family ranch, she looks elsewhere for someone that will appreciate her and her worth.
Adam head rancher at Lodestar Ranch after his dad stepped down. He has so much on his plate, and he has had the worst luck finding a horse trainer. Lucky for him, his dad just hired a new one. Enter in James.
She is sunshine, she is fiery, she is so good at what she does. More than her job, she calls him out when it is needed, she doesn’t take crap from anyone, and she is good with his son.
After his wife left him 10 years ago with their newborn son, Adam has no interest in love. And since he’s her boss, James is as off limits as it can be. But when a work roadtrip leads to only one bed, can they be more in their personal relationship, as long as while they’re on the ranch they keep things strictly business?
Read to find out! 👀

Listen. If you are like me, and have been struggling with people on social media’s view on women (especially after Taylor’s boyfriend’s teammates fun speech) you need to read this book immediately. Elizabeth honestly helped heal some of my soul that was so hurt with the way Adam affirms James and her abilities in this book. It was absolute was PERFECTION.

I LOVEDDDDD James’ character. I loved that she was sunshine while also not being a doormat for people to walk all over. But also the character development from living her entire life trying to fit in this box of what her dad forced her in, to allowing herself to feel emotions and realizing it doesn’t make her any less of an amazing cowgirl??? Obsessed.

I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to see what comes next for this series!!!

Y’all, i looked a good grumpy x sunshine. Throw in forced proximity you’ve got me hook, line, and sinker.

Elizabeth wrote such a good grumpy but lovable cowboy. Adam felt like he had the whole world on his shoulders and James made him loosen up so much! I loved their dynamic. He was so supportive of her work! He understood her dreams and wanted her to succeed in those.

I loved James. She was just a ray of sunshine! Her attitude was so refreshing and i loved that she went after what she wanted! She was so great with Ben, teaching life lessons and teaching him to be a good man in the future!

Also? Adam’s dad was seriously the best. I loved how he pulled one over on Adam when he hired James. The side characters were funny and awesome and i can’t wait for their stories!

Their chemistry was so good and that one barn scene…holy moly. I was sweating (in a good way). 🥵🔥

I really enjoyed this one and i look forward to more.

✨ARC Review ✨

A cowboy in the streets by Elizabeth Bright

This is my first read by Elizabeth Bright and I really enjoyed it. James the FMC wants to work at her family business, Blue Skies, as the head horse trainer but is passed up by her dad. James dad cannot see her worth so she decides to leave and takes a position at Lonestar Ranch in Colorado. This ranch is run by Adam the grumpy cowboy and single dad who had a bad past relationship. I really loved Adam’s protective nature and how he valued James unlike her dad. I love the relationship between the main character and the build up to the relationship. The relationship between James and Ben, Adams son, was wonderful. I really enjoy all of the characters in the story I especially loved Adams dad and how he didn’t let it slip to Adam who the head trainer was after assumptions were made. I can’t wait to read Brax and Essie’s story. Thank you Elizabeth Bright for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.

I devoured this book! It was everything I love in a rom-com including fantastic banter, the best swoon worthy moments, really funny moments, tension, spicy and just love for these two main characters. There’s slow dancing in the kitchen! So many sweet moments I loved between James and Adam.

James was such a great FMC- she is really strong and goes after what she wants. She’s determined to make something of herself. She’s a really good horse trainer too! Adam is a true cowboy in the streets and a beast in the sheets. He has so many layers and as the book goes on we learn more about him and just love his grumpy sunshine character. He calls her buttercup!

It was such a fun enjoyable read that I couldn’t put down. I just wanted to spend all my time with James and Adam, family and the horses. Such a great heartwarming story.

Single dad book but not the nanny but his horse trainer....okay I see you. We love a good save a horse ride a cowboy!! Honestly this book was such an amazing read, I have been reading alot of single dad and the nanny and for the FMC James to not be in charge of taking care of the little boy Ben but building a nice friend relationship was very sweet to see. Also James as a FMC is so cute I love it and I haven't seen it been done before, I had to double check I was in the FMC POV for a second but honestly I loved it. Adam is the grumpy cowboy we all need in our lives!! James and Adam's story was so sweet and overall wholesome. Chloe had me laughing with her comment on, "A Cowboy in the streets, Beast in the sheets" we all need a Chloe in our lives honestly. I can't wait to see what is next for us at Lodestar Ranch!!

ARC Review

4.5 ⭐️ Adored this book! I mean cowboy x single dad ? what more could you want.

Really this book was super cute and sizzling. This small town romance was just what I needed and Elizabeth DELIVERED.

James and Adam were top tier from the start. The MEET-CUTE are you kidding me? I loved their relationship from the beginning. The whole grumpy x sunshine really played its part there and the banter. Loved it. But the way Adam and James cared for each other when they both thought they shouldn’t just melted my heart.

This story was just incredible. They both found a new person inside of each other to start over. 🤍

• small town
• grumpy x sunshine
• cowboy x horse trainer
• boss x employee
• single dad
• dirty talking MMC

This book was a breath of fresh air with a stunning HEA. I love me a cowboy romance, but sometimes the cowboy is over done… I can gladly tell you that Adam and James were perfectly molded in this one! I was quite literally in a puddle at one point/kicking/squealing. I want to copy and paste Adam. James is a certified baddie. A miss independent if you will, that has roped herself Mr. Resting Grump Face.

-grumpy X sunshine
- age gap (but not too focused on that so might be good start for those wanting to try age gap out!)
- workplace romance
-single dad

This one seriously just had me feeling so giddy afterward!! After all the dark romances recently, this was the perfect cup of sunshine!

Grumpy cowboy and sunshine horse trainer, yes PLEASE!

I have firmly been in my cowboy romance era and this story felt fresh and delightful.

Elizabeth, thank you for the ARC copy of this - I feel honored to have read it.

I absolutely was kicking my feet at multiple different points during this book. The banter, the tension, the SPICE. But with a great plot, because we plot and spice here.

I can’t tell you how happy I am to know that this was the first book in a series and we will get to see more of Adam and James as side characters in the future reads.

THIS. GOD. DAMN. BOOK.

I never wanted to put it down. James and Adam are so cute and while I hate miscommunication tropes, I did like that they were able to work through it.

I actually can’t wait to read the rest of this series now because god I just want more of all the characters that were introduced. Like everything was set up so well and it all flowed perfectly.

Thank you Elizabeth Bright and team for the opportunity to read this book and give my honest review. Loved everything about it so much 💕

Such a wonderful book - fully of laughable and heart warming moments. Adam’s back story of his marriage was refreshing, it gave so much meaning to how he ultimately decided to be the man James deserved. James was a strong FMC in a male run world and not once did she come off as weak or lacking. Their HEA was so sweet. Really hoping Hannah gets a book and I am already foaming at the mouth for Brax & Essie’s book, the tension was to die for.

First book by this author and certainly won’t be my last!

Very cute cowboy/single parent + grumpy/sunshine romance. Great side characters, great setting. The only reason it wasn't a 5 star for me is because so much of the book is run on the miscommunication trope. They do actually communicate well, and the MMC even marvels at how much they communicate, which isn't something he was used to in his last relationship...which is why I hate that the trope was still used.
