**This is a follow-up to Cover Story, and while it can be read as a standalone, it's recommended to read the original first, as this novella doesn't go into detail about characters' jobs, personalities, and backgrounds. ___
Nobody said happily ever after would be easy
Life has been good for Dax and AJ. Dax's TV show, Mexican't, just wrapped filming season two, and even bigger roles are coming in. It's been hard with AJ traveling around the world covering fashion weeks for TMG, though. When Mateo, the brother Dax hasn't seen in twenty years, unexpectedly shows up, it throws Dax's emotions into chaos. He longs for AJ's stability to help keep his anxiety in check, but family has always been a sore spot for AJ. As they work through two decades of hurt, they'll have to redefine what family means to them and figure out what it takes to build a home—and a life—together.
Loved it! It was the perfect epilogue/addendum to Cover Story. We got to see Dax begin to mend fences with an estranged family member and also, of course, check in on Dax & AJ. I love these characters so much, it was great to see them again. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship progress. All in all, a very sweet and satisfying story.
A super sweet continuation to Dax & AJ’s story. Valerie does such a great job at making you fall in love with her characters and I’m so happy we got to see more of them!
In Coming Home I loved that we get a continuation of their HEA, and that we get a really satisfying conclusion to their story, while still addressing trauma and healing. Truly it just felt like an extended epilogue and I really loved that.

There is something about Valerie Gomez's books that make me so sad there isn't a thousand of them to read. I think many authors twist themselves this way and that to understand and work through what it means to be human, but it comes so effortlessly to Valerie. Here is a book that is delightfully entertaining, highly relatable, with layers and layers of depth. It makes me homesick for love I haven't had and fictional families I'll never meet.
Recently, I've come to the knowledge that Valerie is a fairly new writer, which is SO impressive because I adore the writing style of both Cover Story and Coming Home. The author truly has an innate knack for storytelling.
This is a must-read for all Cover Story fans and such a fantastic edition to Dax and AJ's stories. I seriously can't wait to read what this author has in store next!
