And the girl who’s currently chugging down a beer from a red solo cup isn’t going to be any different.
I want her. Which means she’s already mine. Her fate has been decided.
Her eyes hold a sadness I want to drown in. And I have an even stronger need to find out what caused that look on her face, so I can be the one to erase it completely.
Cassidy
I’m okay. I’m fine. I’m good.
All words I keep repeating to anyone who asks how I’m doing. How I’m coping.
All lies.
The truth is I’m not okay. I’m not fine and I don’t think I’ll ever be “good” again.
The only thing I feel other than grief right now is the buzz from the alcohol I continue to force down my throat.
But I know that’s going to fade too. And all that will be left is the big black hole of despair that has me in a chokehold.
Nothing can make me feel anything anymore. Not even those dark eyes glaring at me from across the room.
Kylie made the leap from kindergarten teacher to romance author, living out her dream to deliver sexy, always and forever romances. She loves a happily ever after story with tons of built in steam.
She currently resides in Perth, Australia and when she is not dreaming up the latest romance she can be found spending time with her three children and her husband of twenty years, her very own real life instant-love.

This was okay, but I wish the ending was more satisfying than a HFN. It's a me problem, I love extended epilogues, even in novellas.
Anyway, Cassidy moved to New York after the death of her best friend. They were both drugged and assaulted, and her best friend ended her own life. The perpetrators were freed, but she killed them, and the evidence was wiped out by her friend.
Now she's in New York, trying to get away from their town and moving to a new college. She caught the attention of Alessandro, son of the Don of NY. As usual, this is insta-something, and within weeks they fell in love.
There were some suspense, accidents, and killings. I had fun reading about the close family bond with the Valentino's and how they always had each other's back. I liked the meddling family too.
As for the romance, it was okay, I guess. I didn't feel the emotional pull, but that's probably because this is a short story, and the pace was quick. But Alessandro is an OTT possessive guy, and like I said, this was an instant attraction, and he knew right away she's it for him.
The ending has a HFN ending with Alessandro and his cousins/siblings flying Cassidy and her mom to NY.
Book info: - Novella - Insta-love (??) - Drugging - SA - Murder - No cheating, opd, breakup - HFN

❥ 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒚 What a strong girl, really liked her.
❥ 𝑨𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒐 He was hot as fuck.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 This book was cute and quick read. Cassidy and Alessandro are a perfect match and I enjoyed their tension. He became obsessed with her quickly and fights for Cassidy. The Valentino family is as crazy and lovely as ever and I loved reading about them.
𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤? Yes, above all when you‘ve read the Valentino-series by Kylie Kent. It‘s a cute addition.
𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 college, mafia, he falls first and harder, strangers to friends to lovers, insta love, possessive and protective hero, crazy family, traumatic past
𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 ages: both around twenty I think cheating: no sharing: no kinks: no
Okay hear me out I know this is meant to be a novella of sorts, but this really needs to be a full fledged book. There is so much the author could expand on from a storyline perspective and I really liked both the MMC and FMC. While this novella isn’t spicy in the slightest I really enjoyed the storyline, so I didn’t care. I’m not sure how far out in terms of family lines the author is going to go, but after reading Dante I wish she would. I still want to see another Dante and Josie book, but preferably when they’re older.
Highly recommend. Another great addition to the Valentino series.
These novellas involving the Valentino heirs are damn good. The combination of mafia romance mixed with the family madness of the Valentino grandchildren is a mix of funny, dark, dangerous, and hot.
Alessandro is the eldest son of Theo and Lily. He is the heir to the family now. He's in college and he's already a made man, but while he studies and grows up he's not Theo's underboss but one day he will take that role.
Cassidy is strong and fierce but broken. She suffered a tragic event that was then followed up by a crippling loss. She's left her hometown and moved to New York to try and get a fresh start. She is keeping up appearances but in reality, barely keeping her head above water.
Meeting Alessandro brings some of her trauma to the surface but she manages to find herself in him also. They were a great pairing and I loved Alessandro's instant protective instincts.
One thing that let this book down giving it only 4.5 stars in my opinion is the ending. Don't get too worried, they end up together and the threat to her is gone, but I just felt there were a couple of points that didn't get ticked off.
I don't want to spoil it so I won't give anything away, and none of these ruined any part of the story. I just had questions and would have maybe liked one more chapter with them going back to the family.
Again just my opinion but overall I enjoyed this story and I want more. I know Kylie is going to run out of heirs eventually and I'll be sad, but I'll just have to start the series all over again from Theo and Holly's story ;P . . . Cassidy has just settled into her dorm and her new roommate has taken her to a party. She'd rather be anywhere else but at least the alcohol available can help her numb any feelings. She lets the alcohol and the music take over but when her drink is taken from her and a large body stands at her back the whole party comes to a standstill. "That guy isn't your average bad boy on campus. He's the kind of everything you should avoid."
Alessandro hasn't been able to take his eyes off her and when he watches what the weak excuse for a man did to her drink he sees red. After making sure he's removed from the party he chases after her to make sure she's home safe.
Cassidy isn't going to let some stranger know where she lives despite the fact he just saved her from being drugged. When he suggests they go for a drink at a club she needs the numbness the alcohol provides so agrees.
She's a fierce little thing and Alessandro wants to know more. She might not know it yet but he'll break down her walls and figure out what broke her and then he's keeping her.
"Why are they scared of you?" I ask him. Alessandro tilts his head. "The better question is why aren't you?" "Should I be?" "No, you shouldn't be. They, however, most definitely should be."
Review: Really enjoyed this short novella by Kylie 🫶🏼 it was filled with so much emotions. Cassidy had such a dark and heart breaking past 😭 which is why she moved from her home town to New York and the catches the eyes of Alessandro Valentino. Alessandro was smitten at first sight. He was sooo possesive and protective over Cassidy. He knew what happened to Cassidy in her past but still waited for her to tell him the truth. The way he looked after her and cared for her was beautiful 🥹❤️ Their confession was just spot on and they deserved their HEA 🫶🏼
What I loved: * Alessandro already so protective over Cassidy and he’s just met her!! * Cassidy is a stubborn one. Really like her character * Liliana and Enzo teasing Alessandro ☺️ * FAMILY is very important ❤️ * Alessandro taking Cassidy to his house because she passes out before she can tell him where she lives 🤭 * Alessandro finds Cassidy pretty bare faced 🥰 * Cassidy wearing Alessandro’s hoodie 🫶🏼 * Cassidy telling Alessandro what happened to her in the past 😭 * Alessandro calling Cassidy his pot of gold 🥹❤️ * Theo I adore him for not wanting to let go of his kids he wants them with him forever!! * Cassidy getting a tattoo to remember her best friend 🥹 * Alessandro protecting Cassidy * Aurora is such a badass I can’t wait for her story ❤️❤️
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 🌶️ 1/5

Alessandro is book 2 of the third generation Valentino kids' novella. This book follows Alessandro and Cassidy's story. This was a very fast pace story! I am not going to lie but I wanted more of the story! Alessandro is the perfect combination of Theo and Maddie. I am looking forward to Lilliana's story! Theo is well Theo - very overprotective. I love his cameo especially when it includes Josie and Dante. Josie definitely fits right in with the Valentino clan. Every time Aurora makes a cameo - I laugh out loud. I feel like she is the most unhinged out of the third generation and I do hope that she gets her own book! Cassidy is a strong FMC with a heartbreaking past. I am glad she is with Alessandro!
I expect there to be murder, torture, etc. in a mafia book. Apparently where I draw the line is the MMC using rape as a way to torture someone. I had to skip reading it.
Outside of that, the ending was super rushed. I get that this is a novella but you can still have a satisying story in a short number of pages! There's a plot twist at the end that gets resolved in a few sentences and the HEA is...unfulfilling. I honestly expected to turn the page to a chapter wrapping everything up and it wasn't there. The ending technically isn't a cliffhanger but it feels very unfinished.
I was overall disappointed.

I love Kylie’s books, and the whole Merge/Valentino series’ are amongst my favourites. This book wasn’t. I found it just lacked any depth. I know you skip details in novellas, but it just felt like it raised more questions than it answered. The characters, as usual, have the sass and chemistry that we all know and love from the Mafia family, but, for me, it just lacked that little bit of magic that I usually feel from Kylie’s writing. Still, I read it in one sitting and loved Alessandro and Cassidy, so it’s still worth a good 4 stars from me.
Wait that’s it? I mean, what’s here is nice, but surely you didn’t think this counted as a whole book right? That whole plot at the end just…what? Nothing?? What about her mom? Who was the guy on the floor at the end? What about the bad guy?? Just…wtf man. I love these characters, but I swear there’s less and less to every book. I really wish the author would stop trying to crank them out as fast as possible and FINISH THE BOOK.
I love anything Valentino, so I LOVED this novella about Alessandro & Cassidy. I actually laughed out loud when Aurora did that thing near the end, and I can't wait to read more about her...whenever that story comes.
I also love that Alessandro wasn't the one to take care of Cassidy and Julia's attackers...love that Cassidy took care of them herself. She needed to.
My only critique (if you can even call it that) is that this novella felt even shorter than Dante's.
Not my favorite since I’m comparing to the other book by this author titled DANTE
This book is too boring. I can’t really empathize with the FMC unlike the story in DANTE. The fast paced is just too forceful. Like he suddenly claiming a woman in a bar? Nah, I’d rather read a long story about Dante and Jousy. The author should really make a series for Dante and Jousy. I don’t really think Alessandro needs a book.
Honestly I almost DNF this book. The MMC sexually assaults someone they are about to kill. (Chapter 6) Major ick and killed all positive thoughts about him.
Is it a ridiculous line to draw that them torturing someone is okay, while this isn’t? Maybe. I know consent is sometimes a sliding scale in this genre, but the character fully staying they’re about the r*pe someone totally crosses the line for me.
I felt like the ending didn’t wrap up, it just ended. I was confused who was dead in the bedroom. One can guess but there was nothing that spelled it out. I thought maybe this was just an installment in a series of books but at the end, there was no link to the next book in the series. Instead it was a blurb to read another crime family’s story. So is this it or is there more books in this series.
This is Alessandro's book, he's a college student and falls for Cassidy, who is recovering from a serious trauma.
I'm just not sure about the plot or the pace of these stories (there is certainly not enough to class it as a book!) I have seriously invested myself in the Valentino family, but this third generation of characters don't feel like thy are getting a fair chance, it just feel like this is being churned out.
I love Kylie Kent and this saga of the Valentino’s. This is a great story but way too short and not developed enough. Feel like I was left hanging. Feel like this story was created in a hurry to make a buck and not to further develop the saga. I read it on Amazon Kindle, but if I had paid for it other than my subscription I would be highly disappointed.
Kylie Kent never disappoints. Can’t wait to hear more about Cassidy and Alessandro! The only criticism would be that I felt the story should’ve been longer I felt it ended in a short of cliffhanger. Hope this book gets a sequel of some sort and that Dante and Alessandro’s novellas get a physical version that I can add to my Kylie Kent shelf 🥰
This one felt very rushed. The last page came and I was like whaaaat?! Where's the rest of the story? Not because of a cliffhanger but because it wasn't done. And the rape thing was gross. So you hate this guy and what he does so much you're going to act just like him kudos, well thought out plan.
I love her writing, and even this book BUT the ending just leaves you hanging. Like there is something missing in this story. You can almost feel the love but it's just not finished. The story ends incomplete. I'm hoping the next book in the series if there is one finishes the story but I'm not confident it will. 😕
another great read in the valentino heirs world. I just loved Alessandro and Cassidy just as i did Dante and Josie while i love these short novella i'm a selfish person and want more of them. The way these Valentino men love and protect their women is everything. Kylie knows how to write the best mmc's. I laughed so much at the threats to Dante I hope we get more from this family.
I gave this book 5 stars because I loved it…I loved Alessandro and I felt so sorry for Cassidy with the losses she went through…I was disappointed because I felt like it ended on a cliffhanger and was rushed…I feel like there’s more that could have been done..please give us more of Alessandro and Cassidy
This was very good, though I couldn't rate it higher because of the abrupt ending. It seems so unfinished and as a reader that was disappointing. I kept flicking through at the end trying to see if the author said it would continue, but nothing. I'm left not understanding, as A less a do would say.... WTH happened?!
Normally I give this author 5 stars but this book and the last were great until the last chapters. Where they just had rushed endings. Like ridiculously rushed endings. She’s an outstanding writer so I don’t know if she’s rushing for volume right now or what but I know she’s much better with endings than the last two books.
Because of the triggers mentioned above it’s a lower rating for me, rest was good. I am really interested in the books for the H’s other cousins hopefully with no sad deaths

I could read book after book about the Valentino family. It’s been amazing to start off with Theo and Holly then read their sons books and now their children. Alessandro was a typical possessive Valentino but also so caring. I hope there are more to this series!
I love the Valentinos. Kylie has made the series better by extending it with the heirs. I can't wait for the rest. Kylie, Aurora has become my Shero. Please, let her book be next. I have already started on A Sinner's Promise. You are awesome!
I absolutely love the Valentinos. They live hard and love harder. Every single man now including their grandsons know when their woman is put before them. Alessandro, as the next Don, definitely picked a food one, lol.
I love Kylie Kent and I love this family but novellas don’t give it enough time to develop and the university setting, new adult age is not great and I wish these characters were older.
