Rate this book
Isolated. Enslaved. Tormented.

With the mindlink severed, no one remains to comfort Flynae as the abuse continues. Imprisoned and marked to serve, she fights tooth and claw to regain her freedom, but time is not on her side. And making friends is hazardous.

Disturbing visions, rejections, and secrets too important to be uttered compile into a crushing weight.

As Flynae’s self-confidence crumbles under the pressure, everyone might end up Losing Her.

Will she be lost forever?

I jumped into this book immediately after the first one! So quickly that when it came time to review I had to quick check how the first one ended so i didn't say the wrong things! This book… man, it hurts, in the best way. It tugs so hard at your heart. When it says humans are affected by the Kaliahs emotions I didn’t think it would mean through the book! I wanted to laugh, scream, and cry with Flynae. I personally love a good twisted dark romance, but sometimes even when you love a book some scenes can be too much. SO, Kovad… the love I developed for this character purely for being her safe space every time she needed him. The fiercness in which he wanted to protect her and be better for her had a vice grip on my heart! All the while never ever pushing her. To follow a story of two people going through tough times together because they would rather feel the hurt than be without each other was amazing, heart wrenching, emotionally damaging, in the best ways! I hope to see more of the characters come back later on and I cannot wait to see how they all pull together. I’m still hoping for more about the sister, but over all this book was great, and I am already itching to get my hand on the next one!

This series of episodes for the story of Flynae and Kovad are not for the faint of heart. Be sure to check trigger warnings before diving in. This book was very heavy. Heavy on my heart, heavy on my emotions, heavy on my anger. I can't fathom what Flynae has gone through and still walk away with my head held high after being defiled numerous times. She is highly respected among the other women in the Emperors harem. When some of the women start dying for showing her kindness, Flynae starts to lose herself and hides, shutting down from Kovad and herself.

Kovad is such a kind and noble man. Although he can't be there for Flynae physically, he is always with her mentally. He is constantly soothing and cradling her in their mindlink, and most importantly, asks her permission to kiss her head, hold her hand, and embrace her when they are physically in each other's presence. The only thing that bothers me is that he doesn't profess his love to Flynae. For some reason, he can not tell her that he loves her, but you can tell he does by his actions. Maybe in book 3, we'll learn why that is.

The ending of this book has me deeply saddened. Flynae couldn't handle it anymore and fled! Why?!? Please tell me she and Kovad come back together in book 3??

I received this advanced reader copy to read and review. These are my honest opinions.

This is the second book in the monarchs daughter series, and the same trigger warnings still apply. It is extremely well written, but there is significant SA perpetuated against a teenage girl and readers should know before they begin.

That said, I really enjoyed the book. I still struggle a bit with the fact that there is an age-gap romance between a teenage girl and an adult man, but that is such a minor piece of the story and relationship between that girl, her abusers, and the safe haven she finds in Lord Thyde. I'm really enjoying seeing Flynnae grow into a strong leader and rise up against those who would push her down. I think the author does a great job writing about these traumas in a way that is respectful, believable, and hopeful even in the times of darkness. I'm excited to read book three!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I truly enjoyed this book. Since it was a continuation of another book, I found myself devouring this book so quickly! The author paints such a vivid picture and uses such descriptive words, I truly could feel immersed in the world she created! I felt for the main character every time something didn't go her way, and anytime the antagonist came into the picture, I could feel anger and resentment brewing within me. This book series was out of my normal go-to genres, but these books have opened my eyes to a whole new world I cannot wait to explore! Well written, easy to read, some potential triggers for some people, but easy to envelope one's self in it!

This is book 2, of the "Monarchs Daughter,"" Losing Her." Please read, the triggers warning, in this book, first, Please. Also, Please read book 1, "Trusting the Enemy." The I couldn't put this book down. This continues with Flynae's story.I devoured, this book.
This books has imprisonment, abused continued, marked to served, she fights ( for her freedom), rejection, secrets, self confidence crumbled, so well written, trauma, respectable, believable, darkness, chemistry off the charts, spicy, steamy, she kept her head up, wonderful characters, entertaining, unpredictable, twist and turns, haunting, tragic and so on.
This is A Must Read!!
I Recommend this book and series. Going to read book 3, now.

This is the second book in the series and it just got better! The character development was just incredible! Although the ending had me sad and a little angry, I cannot wait to see where the rest of this series goes. I often find myself getting “stuck” in a series, thinking “well, I’ve already read 3, and even though they were awful, I should just finish the rest”. This is absolutely not the case here! I cannot wait for the next book to see how much more these characters deal with love, hardship, loss, and grief.

Note to the author ,

As someone who has lived through some of your TWs, I'd like to thank you for how they were handled.. I do not have triggers myself but found myself overwhelmed with the fact you didn't make her a *victim*, who felt she was dirty or disgraced like many authors feel the need, too. You made her keep her head up and not self hate, and for that , I am appreciative because it's not the way a woman should view herself for something she can not control

The monarch’s daughter

This is book two in the trilogy. They do need to be read in order. It was originally a
Kindle Vella story and this is the second part of the story.

Part two continues the story line and we see more development from the MC. This part is a big darker than the first when Flynea is captured. Please check TW for this one.

This part had me all in my feelings. I felt so sorry for her!!! I can’t wait to read the third part.

Check the trigger warnings! This is a beautiful continuation of Flynae's story and takes you on the heartbreaking journey with her. The characters are written so well and the chemistry is off the charts. This book has some steamy (and disturbing for some) sexual scenes. I devoured this as fast as I could and am just waiting for the next one!

I am obsessed with this series! FMC goes through so much and she is so strong. No matter what she goes through she always fights back! I look forward to reading the next book because I NEED to know what happens next. I need more of the FMC and MMC!

Flynae Is having a rough go of it. Obviously it doesn’t get completely resolved but this was a great story to tell more of her life. It’s an epic adventure that gets under your skin and keeps you invested. So so good.

Losing Her is the second book in The Monarch’s Daughter Trilogy. I literally cannot get enough of this series. This book had me all up in my feelings. We get to see more character development as the story unfolds. This one is a bit darker than the first. Im ready for the next book in the series!

As always be mindful of trigger warnings, what I like you may not.

Happy Reading!

I’m so crushed by this book! Pleas why can’t people just let their feelings out. Stop bottling and feeling you shouldn’t share. Ugh. It breaks my heart! I’m so vested in this. All the abuse she’s gone through. Her closest just want to care for her.

I loved the first book, apart from the cliffhanger ending… and jumped into the second book straight away.

The book started off right where the first ended. It can be confusing if you had a breather between books.

I love Kovad and how he’s a safe space for her. But the proceedings of the story felt too repetitive and dragged out throughout.

Sadness and dark moments in the story is what this book is. Makes you feel like there’s no hope and again ends in a way where it feels like just half of the book. I personally am not a fan of cliffhangers :)
