I'm torn between love and hate feelings for this heart-throbbing thriller!

The tempo is incredibly high! The mind-blowing pacing between past and present, escalating pressure, climax, shocking revelations, and WTH ending are highly enjoyable, almost making me want to give this book five stars. However, this book contains some of the most hateable characters I've encountered in a long time. Of course, the culprit is despicable - you want to punch them in the face - but even the victim and supporting characters are extremely dislikable, which makes their motives seem a little far-fetched.

Without giving too much away, there are plot holes that don't make sense, and I found it nonsensical that only one person would be caught while others walk away. I'll stop here to avoid revealing too much. Just go in blind and form your own theories and opinions!

The story revolves around golden girl Brooke Goodwin, who always maintains great looks, perfect grades, and an intense extracurricular program, appearing to be the perfect student, daughter, and friend until her world is shaken to the core by an incident six months ago. A tragic boat accident during a party she secretly organized at her parents' summer house takes the lives of one of her old classmates and her arch-nemesis, Claire.

Claire's brother blames Brooke, threatening her in public places in front of her friends. On top of that, an unknown number keeps calling her daily, slashing her car tires, and sticking newspaper clippings about the accident to her car.

Brooke doesn't mention these threats to anyone, including her close friends and family, dealing with them alone. All she wants is to leave the tragedy behind by starting college and driving out of town. For six months, she's been lying low, living in social shadows. But when her best friend Jen insists on attending a beach party, bribing her with the news that her longtime crush Logan (Claire's ex-boyfriend) will be there, she decides to give it a go. Jen promises they'll be home before curfew and won't drink or get into trouble. What harm could come from having a little fun to celebrate graduation?

However, after the party, when a Bronco tailgates their car and the unknown caller escalates their threats, Brooke realizes she must do everything in her power to survive and beat her tormentor at their own game!

I'm giving this 3.5 stars, rounding up to 4 because of the heart-throbbing pace and tension-building that pushed me to finish this book in just a few hours in one sitting. While I'm not entirely satisfied with some of the explanations and unexpected turns of events, it's a very fast, easy, and unputdownable read that I recommend to YA thriller lovers!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire for sharing this heart-throbbing YA thriller's digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

There’s an incident at Brookes lake house & somebody dies. There are some people that blame her and begin stalking and anonymously harassing her. Then, after another party, they start following her in the car.

With this one, I knew who the stalkers were most of the time, but it is still very high suspense. I wasn’t sure if she would survive or not, won’t spoil if she does survive or not. It had my heart racing for a bit too.

There’s also a twist at the end that I didn’t really expect.

I feel like this would be a good horror/thriller movie due to the creepy nature of it all and high suspense if it were to be adapted into a movie.

Thank you to netgalley for this free advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars - This book was a crazy, non-stop ride that made me feel like I could not trust anyone. I flew through it and read it in a day. The diabolical characters made it so fun to read. The alternating timelines kept the book moving at a fast pace and was easy to understand.

Do not sleep on Megan Lally! Both of her books are so good. Big fan and I look forward to reading anything else she writes!

This was a fast paced Young Adult thriller. It went back and forth from the past to the present. I love books where you can't quite tell what the real story is and you are questioning everyone's motives!

Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Fire for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

“No Place Left to Hide” by Megan Lally is an adrenaline-packed YA thriller that takes you on a wild ride filled with suspense, mystery, and morally complex characters. This book pulls you in from the very start with its fast-paced action, tense atmosphere, and a dual timeline that keeps you guessing until the very end. Though the story has its flaws, it’s a gripping, unputdownable read that fans of the thriller genre will enjoy, especially with the way the main character is portrayed, which is so different from standard YA mysteries.

The story centers around Brooke Goodwin, a seemingly perfect high school senior who is haunted by a tragic accident that occurred six months prior. At a party she secretly organized at her family’s lake house, an accident claimed the life of Claire, Brooke’s classmate and nemesis. Now, Brooke is being harassed by anonymous threats and stalked by an unknown assailant. As she prepares to leave for college, Brooke finds herself thrust back into danger when a car chase ensues after yet another party. The question is: who is behind the torment, and will Brooke survive?

Brooke, the protagonist, is far from likeable. Spoiled, privileged, and often ignorant, she is the kind of character that makes it hard to root for her, which is a refreshing twist in a genre that often relies on sympathetic leads. While her upbringing and the pressure to maintain her "golden girl" image explain some of her motivations, her snobbish attitude toward others, especially those less fortunate, makes her difficult to empathize with. Still, her complexity as an unreliable narrator keeps the plot intriguing as you are left piecing together the truth behind her facade.

The pacing of the book is relentless. Once the suspense starts building, it doesn’t stop, and the dual timeline format—switching between "Before" and "Now"—keeps you constantly on edge. Even though some of the twists are predictable, the execution of the story is so thrilling that you’ll likely forgive the plot holes and questionable logic, such as an empty highway during a car chase at 11 p.m. or the ease with which Brooke manages to evade danger. Megan Lally has a knack for keeping readers hooked, making this the kind of book you’ll want to finish in one sitting.

While the mystery behind the stalker is somewhat easy to figure out, the tension throughout the book is palpable. The anonymous calls, slashed tires, and escalating threats contribute to a constant sense of dread. By the time the big twist at the end is revealed, it may not come as a complete surprise, but it’s still satisfying to watch all the pieces fall into place.

There are, however, some shortcomings. The characters, especially Brooke, are not particularly likeable, which might turn off some readers. I found it difficult to get into this book because I didn’t like Brooke at all, but this dislike also motivated me to experience more of the plot to learn more about who Brooke truly is.

Overall, “No Place Left to Hide” is a heart-pounding thriller with a morally grey protagonist and a plot that moves at breakneck speed. While it has some predictability and imperfect characters, the suspense and tension make it a worthwhile read for fans of YA thrillers, especially for someone who is looking for something different.

Loved this from start to finish. I went I to this totally blind. I loved Lally’s debut novel, so I jumped at the chance to read this one. Not a moment of disappointment after all the anticipation because this was fast paced, crazy fun.

Taking place in about the span of a day, we follow Brooke. She is a high school awaiting college acceptance, just trying to make it through until she can leave this place. With everything that happened recently, she is just trying to lay low. Throughout, we get glimpses into the past: the night of the incident that Brooke just wants to leave in the past where it belongs.

Someone doesn’t want her to forget though. She is trying to put on a brave face, but when she is dragged by her best friend to a party, the ride home proves to be a dangerous endeavor. Tailed by someone who becomes increasingly more erratic, Brooke wants to keep herself and her best friend Jena safe. Someone is insistent on making Brooke rehash that horrible night, though.

This was a flipped upside down kind of thriller, keeping me on my toes from start to finish. I loved the characters and all of the craziness they got up to. This was a wild ride and I enjoyed it so much!!!!

I loved Lally’s debut, That’s Not My Name, and was excited to read her sophomore novel!

No Place Left to Hide is I Know What You Did Last Summer meets Survive the Night. It’s a fast-paced thriller centered around the events at two parties, and it kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I loved the before and now dual timelines and trying to figure out what secrets all the characters were hiding. Our MC is extremely multi-layered, although I can’t say more without spoiling the story.

This story diverges from your typical YA mystery/thriller in interesting and unexpected ways. Definitely recommend!

This was such a fast-paced bingeable read! The author incorporated some of my favorite Thriller tropes and crafted a really engaging storyline.

I thought that this book had a nice balance of twists, mystery and suspense. From start to finish your kind of thrown right into the action and it just keeps going which I really enjoyed. This isn't the kind of book you start late at night unless your willing to forfeit sleep. I also loved that the author chose to tell this story through a dual timeline format.

Overall this was just a really enjoyable read and I think it's worth checking out if your enjoy YA Thrillers.

Thank you Megan Lally, Net Galley and Sourcebooks Fire for providing me with an ARC of this book!

If Megan Lally writes it, I will read it! Her debut was a five star read for me and though her second book is very different, it’s just as good! I loved the way this story was told in alternating chapters between before and now. The dual timeline added so much to the way the story unfolded! I found this to be a very compulsive read. I finished it during a late night reading marathon after I found myself unable to put it down!

I feel like this is a story I can’t say much about without giving something away! The less you know going in, the better. Let’s just say, Megan Lally really is in her villain era with Brooke’s character! If you enjoy YA thrillers, you need to grab this one.

Thank you, Sourcebooks Fire for the copy of No Place Left To Hide by Megan Lally. The problem with reading a debut.like I did last year when I read That’s Not My Name, is the disappointment when the second book doesn’t measure up. This book was the opposite of a disappointment, and I gobbled it up! I am a long way from my teenage years but that didn't stop me from getting involved in the characters’ lives. If you’re looking for a fast engrossing book with writing that ratchets up the tension to unbearable levels, don’t miss this one! 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

4.5 ✨ Thank you Netgalley and Source fire books for my EARC

What if OJ Simpson Bronco was following you so closely for hours would you give up your secrets to escape this death trap on the Hwy?🤔

I would personally give up ALL my secrets 😂 but Brooke wasnt so forthcoming with her secret! You will have to read to find out does she make it or does she crash and burn!?

The plot of this story was nail biting I personally haven’t read a book that’s actively on the Hwy in the middle of nowhere and every time your at the end of a chapter something crazy happens and then you have to go to the past to see what really happened to Claire! Her old best friend and how she died

The back and forth was perfect to me i was extremely entertained and enthralled by the fact i couldn’t guess most of what happened next!

I recommend this to anyone who wants to be on the edge of there seats 💺 but also figuring out what happened in a “Accidental drowning” but we all know nothings accidental!

One thing did happen that gave it away which i will say I’m just a stickler for context clues and i found one!

I will forever be a Megan Lally fan! Cant wait for her next book!!

ARC from Edelweiss

I absolutely LOVED this book! I did not see the plot twist coming! The plot had so many layers to it that my mind was headed in a different direction for what happened. Throughout the start of the book it is hinted at that something happened "before", but I never would have guessed! I can't say enough good things about this book! (I also loved the author's first book so she is now on my must read list for anything she publishes!).

I had the pleasure of reading this book a few weeks back. Needless to say, I will definitely be reaching for more books by Megan Lally. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat with chapters ending in cliffhangers. It's a well written book, that has you guessing different endings throughout. Without spoiling anything - the betrayal I felt was astounding, and I couldn't get it out of my head for days. This book is exactly what a YA thriller should be.

"That's Not My Name" was a five star read for me, so I was excited to find another book by Megan Lally. Sadly, I found the main character annoying and if I write the two words which describes my pet hate in some authors' recent publications it would be a spoiler.

I received this arc from netgalley and Sourcebooks Fire in exchange for my honest review.

Tbh I overall had a good time reading this... but the "twist" was perhaps the most predictable that I've ever read. Like to the point where I was convinced for half the book that it was a red herring, but no, it was just that uncreative. And this is coming from someone who never guesses twists lol

Buckle up for another incredible thriller from Megan Lally! You are in for a treat.

My blurb: A nail-biting, unputdownable, wickedly fun read from a master of the YA thriller. NO PLACE LEFT TO HIDE is a sinister examination of what happens when privilege goes unchecked. Lally's sophomore novel will keep you guessing all the way from its suspenseful beginning to its shocking end.
