Royally Arranged

Rate this book
Thanks to social media, beauty mogul Astoria Richards fell into a multimillion-dollar business at the age of sixteen. Unfortunately, burnout threatens to snatch the rug straight from under her. With no personal life to speak of, and competitors nipping at her heels, she jumps at a unique proposition from a king. As long as Astoria keeps her heart out this arrangement, her bottom line would benefit from this weirdness … right?

Raphael Castille needs a wife. Tasked with taking over the throne until his twin brother gets stamped with a clean bill of health, he will be required to play his royal part. A simple one-year contractual obligation to make the people of Calor Dunas believe he was capable of leading their country turned into much, much more. The second he sets eyes on Astoria Richards, all the rules went straight out of the window. No one said love was a part of the deal, but if he stayed around the gorgeous, brown-skinned beauty for much longer, he’d have to find a way to add it to the contract.

I received this book for free. This does not impact my review in any shape or form.

Royally Arranged, by Amber Malloy, is a billionaire arranged romance about learning how to work with and love someone despite their flaws. Astoria Richards, CEO of Noire Cosmetics, agrees to an arranged marriage with the King of Calor Dunas, Rafael Castille. What starts as a business proposition turns into something more when Astoria realizes there’s more to the widowed royal than meets the eye. Rafael "Rafa" Castille agrees to marry Astoria as a favor for his twin brother, Paulo, after he falls ill. Despite his grieving, Rafa finds himself falling in love with Astoria, which scares him. When the two are confronted with the corruption plaguing Calor Dunas, they must find a way to root out the deception to bring peace to the country and their lives.

I appreciate how professional Astoria is, especially with her philanthropic pursuits and business. I like that she leverages her connection to do the most good. I feel that she’s definitely someone Rafael can learn from; he values her abilities despite not knowing her for long. Moreover, I enjoy that Rafael is falling in love again. That his brother is the one pushing him towards being in a healthy relationship has definitely helped me root for this couple. That being said, personally, if I were in Astoria’s shoes, I wouldn’t have gone back to Calor Dunas with him; he’d have to get on his knees before I would even consider speaking to him, let alone being his Queen.

The other thing that I can’t stand was Quincy. I understand that he is Astoria’s cousin and played a part in why Astoria is so confident now, but his mannerisms and entitled attitude got to me. Big time. He was fun at first, but his behavior became tiresome the more I read about him. By the time the ending arrived, I was like, "Why’re you even here? What’re you even for?" Because even though she has a lot on her plate, Astoria can handle herself. She doesn’t need another headache to worry about.

That being said, I do like how Malloy handled Enzo and his plot. More often than not people disguise their intentions under a veneer of being your knight-in-shining-armor. It’s an easy way to lure someone into a trap, psychologically or otherwise, an abuse of power that happens too often in governments. So I’m happy Astoria was able to root the problem out before could take hold. Of course, she has the Committee to contend with, but she can handle it with Rafael.

The book was okay, for the most part. I do like Astoria as a character, and Astoria and Rafael can work as a power couple. However, some of the choices these characters make are questionable at best and at worst, detract from the story as a whole. Moreover, the sex scenes were a bit cringe at times, so much so that I had to stop and reread the sentence. As such, I would give this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 2 in the Royal Series. I have not read book one, Royally Screwed and a quick read of that blurb tells me you don't need to read that one before this. Those characters do not appear in this book. It's also the first book I've read of Mallory's. I'll come back to that.

Rafe needs a wife, a temporary arrangement, while his twin brother, his ELDER twin, gets a clean bill of health. A business arrangement which Astoria enters, with a shelf life to the arrangement. At least it started as such.

I liked this. It follows a proven track: an arranged marriage; they have sex (which wasn't part of the arrangement) there is a major fall out, and then a make up, and all is happy in the world. And sometimes you need to see what's coming at ya, like a freight train, and ain't nothin' you can do to stop it. And I LIKED that in this book!

It's steamy in places, but I didn't find it overly heavy on the smexy times. I didn't find it particularly emotional, either. Rafe lost his wife and son, but you don't FEEL that pain from him.

I think that is what I missed the most in the book: emotional connection. Yes, they have smex and do all the things they are supposed to, but I didn't find an EMOTIONAL connection between them. They do say those three little words, but again, I didn't FEEL the love between them.

As I said, my first book by Mallory. I'd like to delve into the backlist of this author to see if I can find that connection. Might just be how the author writes, is all.

So, because I felt that was missing, I gave this book

4 stars

I Love Royal Romance!

With the marriage of Meghan and Harry, fantasy became a reality. Now, these types of stories are more than one's imagination and I'm here for it.

Rafe Castillo, second in line to the throne, needs a temporary wife. Astoria (Story) Richards is one of several candidates selected for him for by his twin brother Paulo who is fighting cancer. Story is not a woman Rafe would have chosen for himself and that's the point. Rafe needs someone that will be part of the background and speak when spoken to, so you already know he has the wrong one! They meet and he decides not to ask for her hand in marriage. She feels some type of way and decides she wants to be his temporary wife.

She's a bit of a every woman as she runs a multi-million-dollar company while juggling her royal duties. She seems to be adored by some and tolerated by others and Calor Dunas is not ready for her. There is a mutual attraction but Rafe has trust issues due to his loveless first marriage that resulted in the death of loved ones. So, Rafe wants nothing to do with marriage or love. You know how the saying goes—"he's not always there when we call, but he's always on time."

Highly Recommended: Read It!

I always enjoy Amber Malloy's books; she is extremely versatile and each book has a distinctive vibe. Royally Arranged is the second book in her Royal Series. Raphael Castille is a twin and one of the heirs to the throne of Calor Dunas. The only problem is that Raphael does not want to be king and his twin brother is more than capable of running the country single-handedly....or he would be if he was not chronically ill. In order to buy some time, avoid scrutiny into his brother's health, and to look the part of a stable monarch, they devise a plan for Raphael to marry a suitable figurehead. Beauty mogul Astoria Richards is selected to be Raphael's temporary bride and it is soon apparent that she is anything but a mere placeholder! While not looking for love or even a connection, they fall head over heels into both. Will they be able to navigate these misplaced feelings as well as court intrigue? I highly recommend this fast-paced and romantic story containing both suspense and humor.

An interesting story, with a strong FMC leading the way. I loved Astoria - she's a great character, smart, strong, independent. Raphael was interesting, and it was fun getting to know him. Quincy...he started off endearing but turned into a caricature, and I ended up not liking him as much (but that doesn't really take away from the book). The story itself moves along (mostly) smoothly, and the descriptions paint a decent picture of each scene, like watching a TV show. Unfortunately, there were some jarring scene changes, and I had to back up to see if I missed something when those occurred. These and some others broke up the flow, and are why I marked this as four stars instead of five. I loved the characters, and following them on their journey as they slowly grow from contractual business partners of a sort to something more. Great contemporary royal romance if you're looking for something new to add to your TBR list!

Having to take over the throne for his ill twin brother for a short time MMC Raphael Castille needs a fake wife quickly.
FMC Astoria Richards is looking for a little change in her life and the prospect of a one year contractual arrangement with Raphael seems intriguing.
Who would have guessed love would enter the picture. The heat is on and so is the romance in this delightful Contemporary story Royally Arranged, whose writing is captivating, as are the characters who shine in this very entertaining read.

A deal was struck. Astoria agreed to marry Rafe for one year to help rule by his side. The spark and heat between them were not part of the bargain. I loved how smart she was, how resourceful, and how she managed to get things rolling to help the country. She had a great support team within in her own company and had the ability to get others to trust her. Rafe had a good heart, realized that some things needed to be changed, and his past needed to be reconciled. Despite the miscommunication between them, their love was strong enough to fix everything.

I received a copy through Goddess Fish Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

What a wonderful book, we follow Raphael and Astoria. They enter into an arranged marriage that they initially did not like, but in the end they both benefit from it and not only them but also others benefit from it. It was a wonderful story full of romance, chemistry, attraction and the steamy and hot moments.

It started out as a business arrangement, but soon becomes complicated as feelings are involved not to mention the wanted and unwanted attention of others who have a stake in this relationship, good and bad.

Royally Arranged is the second book in The Royal Series by Amber Malloy. After reading the first book Royally Screwed in The Royal Series I knew I had to read Royally Arranged the moment I laid eyes on it. I have to say that this series gets better and better with each turn of the page. The more you read the more you want to read.

Royally Arranged had my attention from the first page and never let go from beginning to end. There was not a dull moment to be had between its pages. There was enough romance and sparks flying in all directions for beauty mogul Astoria Richards and Raphael Castille, the would-be king who is to take the throne while his twin brother who is sick gets better.

A marriage has been arranged between Raphael and Astoria. The marriage contract is only to be for one year while his brother recuperates. The marriage was to be in name only but it seems that Raphael and Astoria could not keep their hands off each other. When these two got together the sparks flew. And let me tell you those sparks were hot. Oh, yeah it became pretty steamy real quick like between these two.

I loved Royally Screwed very much when I laid eyes on Royally Arranged I knew I had to read it. The Royal Series is not the first book by Amber Malloy that I have read I plan on reading more for sure.

Amber knows how to write a story that will pull you in from the first page and hangs on. Once you pick up a book by Amber Malloy you won’t want to stop reading until you have read the last page and then you won’t want it to end.

I highly recommend Royally Arranged to anyone who loves a good romance. Grab a copy Royally Arranged today. I would like to suggest that you grab a copy of the first book in The Royal Series, Royally Screwed as well. The Royal Series can be read as standalone but why would you want to?
