I skipped book one because, well, I didn't know there was a book one of the friends, lol. But this is about Hitman Lucas and Emma.
Emma is checked out she's going through a divorce because her husband couldn't keep it in his pants, and she was already going through depression since her mom passed away. And unknown to her, someone has a hit on her. And that leads Lucas stalking her, learning about his prey. And something isn't right. He doesn't wanna kill her yet. He wants to play and learn who wants her dead. And when he takes her, the tension between them is wild. It's very light dark between them games and chase. Little banter back and forth to crack one another. Lucas does like to annoy her and has guilt for what happens. And then Lucas has to deal with his partner, who wants Lucas to end it because he needs the money.
Lots of drama and trying to trust. I did get annoyed at Emma few times she did do few dumb things. That ticked me off. Lucas also was more light grey then dark.

This book is so good.
I LOVED no control so I knew there was a high possibility I would enjoy this one to, and it did not disappoint.
Ngl, Jude is still my favorite character out of all of them in both books lol.
Luca is amazing, and Emma is everything.
I love that Henry and Lydia are also in this one.
It reminds me a lot of the LORDS series.
I love the banter, the spice is spicy and amazing I would say 2/5 for spice level on this one.

When this hit my kindle, I rannnn! I couldn’t put it down. This is a dark captive romance with forced proximity. Our MMC is a hired assassin and our FMC is the victim he was hired to get rid of. Luca has 36 days to get it done but something about Emma has him stalling. I thought I loved Henry but LUCAAAA OMG 🫠🫠 Emma and Luca together are just swoon worthy! The heat between them is 🔥 🔥 The fact that Emma is best friends with someone in Luca’s life just adds to the dilemma. Can he find a way to keep her alive without getting himself killed?? This whole world this standalone takes place in has me captivated and I can’t wait till the next book.

I was completely captivated by this book and couldn’t put it down! Since meeting Luca in the first book, I've been eagerly anticipating more of his story, and it did not disappoint. Luca was phenomenal! The dynamic between Emma and Luca was outstanding—their banter, their clashes, their chemistry, and their possessiveness were all brilliantly executed. This was an exceptional read, and I’m thoroughly hooked on this series.

When I tell you I devoured this book, I'm not lying. Just when I thought this series couldn't get any better, it does. Emma and Luca had me laughing at their quips to each other. Luca being so dark and broody, but also gentle and kind was so perfectly written. Emma the classic fiery redhead who found herself, and had a HELL of a arc. Her killing Jared was absolutely perfection. Manny being the snake I truly thought Jude was in book one was fantastic.
I loved every second of this book and I cannot WAIT to get my hands on book 3.
That cliff hanger though....I need more.
Also...Major being the goodest mommas boy to ever walk the earth deserves 5 stars just for himself. I'm a sucker for a Belgian 😭

I thought I loved Henry, but Luca is everything!
Emma surprised me! I didn't see that coming, but I loved it so so much. Jared was a piece of shit.

I'm in love with yet another unhinged fictional man.. this book was sooo good i literally read the whole thing in one sitting (writing this at 4 am cause I have no self control lol)
I absolutely love Emma and Luca. And the way they grew together and developed throughout the book.
3.5 on my spicy scale.
Also loved seeing a little bit of Lydia, Henry and Jude.

So, this was my first "Dark Romance" experience and WOAH DUDE (AHAHAHAHA - *nervous laughter*). I am not entirely sure if it's my thing, but that's okay! I think I may just be a slow burn girly at heart, and this was not a slow burn... twas more like a forest fire.
Definitely a different vibe than what I've been used to reading, but I'm not opposed to trying another book by Annie Wild in the future.

Luca is a trained assassin and his next target is Emma. The only problem is when he tries to take her life he finds himself attracted to and curious about her so he ends up taking her home with him.
He has an internal battle between doing the job he was hired to do and keeping Emma safe and for himself. He knows that if he keeps her then people will go after them.
Luca is cold, calculated, and dominant but also has a sweet side that wants to take care of Emma. She is grieving the loss of her mother and is also upset because she found out that her soon-to-be ex-husband cheated on her.
Luca and Emma had an instant attraction and sizzling chemistry! The relationship continued to build throughout the book and I really loved them together.
I stayed up late to read this one as I could not put it down!
(As this is the second book in the series there are a couple of characters from book 1 involved in the story but I didn't feel I had to read that one to follow along with this one.)

This book was sooo good, I knew Annie would deliver haha. Luca was determined to complete his job and move on but Emma stopped him right in his tracks. He was smitten and I was laughing that he just took her & brought her home🤣
I loved the connections between the first standalone and this one as well because I love Henry and Lydia!

I was captivated by the second installment of this series, even more so than the first book. The storyline delves into a dark and twisted portrayal of a toxic kind of love, which oddly resonated with me. The female protagonist is depicted as a strong and independent individual who undergoes significant personal growth, while the male main character is portrayed as completely unhinged. The book was so engaging that I couldn't put it down and ended up finishing it in one sitting. I'm eagerly anticipating immersing myself in the next book in the series!

Once I got this book I could not stop reading it , I read the first one and loved it, but I have to say I think I love this one even more! From the dedication down to the whole plot

I really enjoyed the storyline. I liked the characters and I enjoyed the almost “thriller” like aspect throughout the story. There’s plenty of “spice” and good banter between characters! Overall I thouroughly enjoyed this story, and think it’s a must read for Dark Romance readers!

When Emma has a hit put on her she may find love in the most unlikely of places. When Luca takes a job he never expects it to change everything.

Under-freaking-rated!
I inhaled this read! It was so fucking good.
All the DR tropes were hit. This is the kind of story I imagined when I first got in to dark romance.
I love when the story blends well with the spice. I can't stand when sex scenes are thrown in as fillers or when it starts to feel like overkill. When the plot is holding its own, I dig that. And then the smut scenes feel like a reward! Ya know?

It draws you into a story of a cheating husband soon to be ex but takes a whole turn for the worst before it gets better. Rage is an emotion that needs complete control and it seems out FMC and MMC lose it, though together they calm the storm.

Just when I thought Henry stole my heart - here comes LUCAAA 🥵 this entire story was so enticing I could not fucking stand it. I felt so bad for Emma and her asshole ex husband had me FUMING. but my god. I could not stop reading once I started. 5 star read and most definitely a re read in the future

the way I devoured this book in 3 hours today while my kids napped. 😭 I fell absolutely in love with Luca. This one passed my expectations I had. I loved it even more than no control & I loved no control a lot!! 🤭🤭🤭

Okay so Luca 🥵🥵 holy h3ll!! Luca gets a hit job for Emma. He takes her and she puts up a fight. Which peaks Lucas interest. This was such a good book. The plot twist was really good. I highly recommend! If you haven't read No control by Annie Wild I would read that one first. No really necessary to but it's the POV of some of the other characters in this one.

Luca 😍🥵 Henry had me in the palm of his hands in book 1, No Control … but Luca … Luca has me in a Chokehold, His favorite 😉 .. I absolutely loved this book , Easy 5 ⭐️ read . The storyline was captivating , it never dulled out , and it keeps you on your toes until the very end ! Emma and Luca’s character development throughout the book was also amazing. If you want to catch your own case of fictional Stockholm Syndrome… you NEED to read this !

I loved Henry but Luca is ANOTHER LEVEL ! Omg this man ! The straight audacity this author had in writing a man like Luca ! I literally am in love with him.
We kept seeing Henry and Judge mention in the first book that Luca was the devil, that he was another level of crazy and never misses a hit, kills whoever it is sent his way, no matter if it’s a man or woman. Henry never kills women, Luca doesn’t care. Until he is contract to kill Emma who happens to be Lydia’s best friend, but he doesn’t know that. He has a job and will be done, he was intrigued by her from the beginning, something was off with her and he noticed. And when he goes to kill her she surprises him with her attitude and he instead of killing her right away, he decides to take her prisoner, after all he has 34 days to finish the job. AND OMG THOSE 34 DAYS ARE EVERYTHING!
Luca was not what I was expecting, yes he was violent and crazy but he had a soft romantic side to him that was beautiful. He was so tender and sweet and lot times that you couldn’t help but love him. He was sooooooo in love and his insecurities of not been loved back was killing him 🥺😩
Emma on the other hand was a spitfire. She wasn’t that lifeless dull person everyone thought she was, she was mouthy, crazy and she came to life under Luca’s though. She did manage to piss me off in some parts but I still LOVED her and her strong personality. Judge was a great addition to the book showing how great he is. And Major was everything. The book was so angst, tense, romantic and sexy. I will now immediately read Judge’s book❤️
