A ruthless alien, a lonely woman, and a dangerous plan…

Constance has everything she could possibly want - everything except freedom. The material luxuries her father provides are no substitute, especially since his only interest in her is as a pawn in one of his games.

When a massive alien warrior snatches her away from her gilded cage, she should be terrified. Instead she finds herself responding to the hidden loneliness behind that icy facade

Kalpar learned long ago that females could not be trusted. His only loyalty is to his fellow warriors, and he will do anything to keep them safe - even kidnap the daughter of a ruthless crime lord.

Yet Constance is nothing like he expected. Her innocence, her trust, call to a part of him that he had buried long ago. But he needs answers and she is the key. Will he have to sacrifice her in order to protect his companions?

Each book in this series features a different couple and may be read as a standalone, but the books do link together. This sweet and steamy series is intended for mature readers.

Considering how excited I was for Kalpar's story, especially since he's been the alien hunk I've had my eye on since the beginning, what I got overall was...still good, but just not great.

The setup is actually pretty interesting, wherein Kalpar poses as a bodyguard in order to find out the secrets of a crime lord who's showing interest in the aliens' farm. While there though, he is drawn to the crime lord's daughter, Constance, who herself is a prisoner of her father's ambitions and also lonely.

As a pairing, Kalpar and Constance work really well together and their romance wasn't at all lacking, but...well, there's SUCH a buildup to the importance of the crime lord angle and not to mention the dubious alien whom Constance's father tries to sell her to, but...it just felt like there was no follow-through with it, kind of. Like, there's maybe 1-2 action scenes, but I just felt that the author skimmed through them too quickly and without real rhyme or reason to WHY they happen in the first place when they do; ergo, it was like I was getting hyped up for something, but then deflated like a balloon once it actually happened.

Therefore, overall, I'd classify this story as okay, but not spectacular or anything like that. (Either that, for my expectations were too high.)

Might do a re-read someday, but for now I'm just reserving a 4-star judgement.

I love purple !! 💜💜💜

As ALWAYS , I enjoy another spectacular story of the Wainwright warriors and the women who mate them !!
In this story Kalpar, has went to Port Cantor in order to investigate why the towns richest man , Thompson , seems to be so very interested in their little farm .
Kalpar finds himself on Thompson's payroll as bodyguard to his daughter.
Constance does not want a new bodyguard. Not that she wanted the old ones. But this one.......makes her feel funny . Not that she has been around any man. Her father keeps her life very restricted. She wants to be free.
As Constance and Kalpar navigates their strange relationship that they have , things certainly heat up !!
We get to travel this beautiful land , and see some old friends . Always a great time !!! Now, I am ready for the next book !!

Another hit

Honey Philips has done it again! I love her stories in this series. The way she gets each aliens story & intertwines with the previous ones is spot on. Just enough spice & romance.

Good read

Kalpar was on a mission to find out why the bad guy wanted their land. What he found was Constance. She is the daughter of the bad guy and he was her protector. Sort of.. Enjoy

I do adore these sweet little western themed Sci-Fi romances that are always so heart warming and the author has worked her magic again in this newest story, Kalpar.
MFC Constance is the daughter of Port Cantor crime lord
Marshall Thompson and the adage of we can’t choose our parents certainly applies where her father is concerned.
Constance yearns to be free of his shackles and the day she is gifted an interesting talisman from a market vendor one has to believe fate will be intervening soon.
MMC Kalpar is one of the Alliance warriors who recently prevented an attempt by criminals to infiltrate the land the band of warrior brothers has been working hard to turn into their new farming community. He makes the decision to go to Port Cantor to investigate why the crime lord is so interested in the land, and being a Catari male only interested in a female if she is his fated mate manages to get hired on as Constance’s 24-7 guard.
Now in the perfect position to find the information he needs things get complicated fast when his new charges personality turns out to be way different than his preconceived one, and then those fated mate stirrings begin. His fate is about to be sealed, you guessed it!
With excellent writing, well crafted characters, intrigue, danger, and spice their story is an emotionally engaging one and if you have been enjoying the series you will not be disappointed with this sixth book. HEA.

This was a brilliant book that took you on a wild ride that I didn’t want to get off. Constance is the daughter of Marshall Thompson who is a Ruthless Crime Lord that treats her like a object and a pawn in his games for more money and power and even though she is well looked after it’s still a gilded cage and with new guards to keep her virtue intact she meeets Kalpar an Catari male who is different from the others but makes her feel safe for the first time and so she has been told by her father she is be married to Lord Vexian who examines her like an animal and agrees to the deal. Kalpar is a one of the alliance warriors andd a Catari male who wants to learn why the crime Lord is interested is there land and now he is hired to watch over his daughter Constance and soon realises she is nothing like her father and when he watches her get humiliated by Lord Vexian he knows he must help her out. Now they have escaped and the closer they are together the stronger the bond forms between that he realises she is his fated mate and his body reacts to her for the first time as it only happens with your mate. There are some hot and steamy times but also danger that chases after them but can he keep her safe and protect his fellow warriors as well. There is heaps more to this amazing book and the series as well. Definitely a must read.

4terrific🌟's for Kalpar

Kalpar is the slightly grumpy I can't believe all the males around me are mated to humans ex soldier. He 's set himself a part from his fellow soldiers and is suspicious of everyone. He's gone into the main city to become a part of the Thompson house hold so he can find out why the man keeps sending people to their team to survey and spy. He ends up being Constance 's new body guard. A female he believes he might have to use to get the information he needs. When he meets her everything changes . Constance is so tied of being seen as nothing but a bargaining chip for her father to sell to the highest bidder. At one time she thought her father may have cared for her but not since she become a young woman. He' s finally selling her to a horrible being because he will acquire some property and more power and now she has a new bodyguard who never leaves her side. He's so handsome but he does work for her father. As they both get to know one another they discover nothing is as they first thought. Constance is NOTHING like her father and Kalpar is not as broken as he once believed. This was an excellent addition to the series we are one step closer to why Thompson wants the farms and I can't wait too solve this mystery. Once again love , acceptance and passion save the day. A fun Friday night read and I can't wait to see what the next book hold in store for us. Highly recommend🌟🔥😘🔥💖🌟😘💖🔥🌟😘🔥🌟😘💖🔥🌟😘🔥💖🌟😘💖🔥🌟😘🔥

Kalpar's heading into the big city (so to speak) to see if he can figure out why Marshall Thompson keeps sending people to survey the warriors' land and things DO NOT go the way he expects. Mostly because the big guy had pretty much given up on even the idea of a special someone for him and suddenly Constance was there rousing all his protective instincts.

On the plus side, Kalpar landed a job as Constance's personal bodyguard. And he does guard her body well. Very well. On the downside, Constance's father is an utterly horrible individual and Kalpar has to take drastic measures to keep Constance safe. If that means taking his little human to the farm, so be it.

As for Constance, she hates the life her father has forced her into. While she knows her father is willing to go to any lengths to further his business interests, she's horrified when that means selling her to a terrible alien to be his wife. Let's just say Kalpar doesn't like that idea any more than she does and soon the two are on the run. And if THINGS HAPPEN while they're on the run, well then, THINGS HAPPEN.

A suffocating existence, twisted family dynamics, a little danger, a few voyeuristic displays, a warrior who doesn't believe he has a mate in his future, and the human woman who is determined to prove him wrong. YESSSSS.

Constance (h) is trapped in a life dictated by her domineering father, surrounded by bodyguards who monitor her every move. Her life is a series of controlled appearances that symbolize her status as a mere object in her father's quest for power. Constance's routine changes with the arrival of Kalpar (H), a new bodyguard who is different from the rest. He is alien and distant, but a subtle bond forms between them, marked by moments of gentle interaction, even as her father arranges a marriage for Constance with Lord Vexian, an alien whose interest in her is purely transactional. Vexian insists on a degrading exam9ination of Constance, evaluating Constance like an object, exacerbating her feelings of entrapment and helplessness. Kalpar, seeing the aftermath of the inspection and sensing her despair, becomes conflicted between his duty to his fellow soldiers and his growing need to protect Constance as he realizes that she’s his mate. He decides to help her escape from her father's plans in a daring escape attempt, and things heat up between the two even as they flee their pursuers. Ultra-hot and steamy alien fated mates romance with danger, action, violence, size difference, mating bite, and more.

Entertaining Western Alien Sci-fi Romance!

Kalpar is book 6 in the How the Aliens Were Won series. But, if you are looking for a fun binge read with quick and engaging stories this is my reading order recommendation…
1. Seven Brides for Seven Alien Brothers series. (Read in the suggested order on Amazon)
2. You’ve Got Alien Trouble novella that should be read before the next series.
3. How the Aliens Were Won series. (Read in the suggested order on Amazon)
Although any one of these books can be read a standalone I think they will be much more appreciated if read in order since they all take place in the same world and some of the characters, locations and references carry through.

These books just get more exciting and the threat level to the ranch is becoming very intriguing. Kalpar has been an enigma so far in the series and now we get to know so much more about him. Constance; the daughter of Marshall (who is the villain behind the harassment of the farm) becomes a victim of her father’s manipulations and Kalpar is just the one to rescue her!

Kalpar is a fun, steamy and thrilling read full of family betrayal, villains galore, drama, adventure and found family.

There is a fantastic little tease at the end when meeting a mysterious female on the ranch and I can’t wait for the next book, H’zim!

“Freedom is a journey, not a destination.”

Constance' father is not just protective, or overprotective, he's something else. Something she's ready to break free from, but has no idea how to do so.

Kalpar is on a fact finding mission, but things don't seem to be going his way. Being a bodyguard for Constance seems like the perfect way in to her father's house, but he quickly learns not only are his assumptions of base, but this house doesn't follow the normal patterns.

This done in one book moves forward the overarching arc of what is someone looking for on the warriors land, and why... it's a baby step of information, but it is there.

The story focuses on the complexities of family and love, and tells a beautiful story about wanting to believe there is a kernel of genuine love at the core of everyone, even those who leave us struggling to see any signs of it... they are almost counterbalanced by those whose goodness is constantly shining through, no matter how rough and tough the day.

(This review is really for the whole series because, OMG, I couldn't stop reading.)

If you’re a fan of westerns with some spice and the MMC is an alien instead of human, then this is the series for you. Each of these books is about a human female who meets/pairs with one of a group of aliens who are healing from their own war wounds. They are working the land on an earth-like planet and the women are likewise trying to figure out their lives.

Initially, I wondered how many different storylines you could come up along the same theme. Well, Honey Phillips doesn’t disappoint.

Each story is as individual as the MMC and MFC that fall in love. And when I say, I couldn’t put the books (ebooks) down, I am not lying. I read through the whole series over the course of a weekend and then waited impatiently for #7 to be released in June.

Each of the characters is endearing and fallible and wounded. I found myself rooting for each and every one of them. I have the release date for number 8 in my calendar and I can hardly wait!

“She had filled a void in his soul that he’d believed would remain empty forever, and he would always be grateful.”

Constance is a woman controlled by her cold father. Kalpar is a purple Catari alien who was hired as a bodyguard to protect her virtue until she can be forced into a loveless arranged marriage to a rich, older, and sleazy alien. But Kalpar is there instead to ascertain why Constance’s father has been illegally surveying the homesteads where Kalpar and his fellow warriors live. It is easy to love these characters. Constance is a strong, kind and resilient woman and Kalpar is strong, protective, and sexy. Also totally surprised at his body’s reaction since Catari males only experience arousal only when with their mate😉-hmmm. Can he save her when danger strikes?? Another enjoyable and engaging read! Love the ending and can’t wait for Mr. Grumpy’s story - yes looking at you H’zim 😁 !!

Cute!

Kalpar and Constance were a great match. This story reminded me a little of Gilmat from the Seven Brides for Seven Alien brothers series- only I liked this one so much more. Kalpar had the perfect mix of broken male and fierce protector needed to make him a swoon worthy hero. And Constance, while innocent and sheltered, didn’t come across as boring. She had a wonderful spirit that match well with Kalpar’s intensity. I do wish we had learned more about her father’s dealings because it’s intriguing, but I can’t say I was disappointed at all with the story over all.

The only thing I would have liked would have been to see Celenk and Kalpar interact. But that’s only because I liked their tentative friendship in Celenk’s book. I also can’t wait to see what will happen in H’zim book! That alien has me in a chokehold and heaven knows I love broken boys getting healed by love.

This story is one of the reasons Ms. Phillips is one of my favorite authors.
The story is a standalone, but should be read in order. There is a backstory to it .
I love how Kalpar starts out with one opinion about Ivy and then as he gets to know her finds out he is totally wrong. He also finds out the true nature of her father with his relationship to her.
I liked Ivy. She has her moments of being her true self. Feisty and caring. She is put in a situation she could never have phantom.
Kalpar is determined to complete his mission. I love how that mission changes. His presence in Ivy's life as her "personal bodyguard" gives a whole new meaning to guarding.
Loved the twists, action throughout, steam to the romance, and of course the prefect HEA for Kalpar and Ivy.

Kalpar and Constance. Constance desperately needs Kalpar since her father is the worst human being on the planet. Her life has been one of imprisonment, even if it is in a tower penthouse. Kalpar becomes her bodyguard as part of a plan to find out what her father wants with the farm. He finds his heart instead. I so loved this story! I loved the two of them coming together, saving each other. I love Kalpar and I love how hard he fell. Constance is so innocent but she is also wise and she has a heart of gold. I can't wait for the next book in the series, H'zim! I want him healed and I want to know what Thompson is up to. How The Alien's Were Won is an outstanding series, I highly recommend it!

Another amazing read. Talk about a page tuner. Honey really nailed this one. My heart was in my throat, and my blood pumping. What an incredibly vile man. Unfortunately, though, more evil lurks.

Talk about planning for the best, preparing for the worst, didn't give Constance much hope, until her father switches out her guards.

Kalpar will do everything in his power to keep her safe......swoon 💜

Wow, talk about coming to the rescue and saving the day.

We finally get to know silent and gruff Kalpar and more of his story! Constance is basically being held hostage by her father. She is a good to be sold. A pawn. Not the life she would've chosen. Kalpar is assigned (luckily) as her body guard. Their story begins there.

You will want to continue reading this series because...
**Constance is a surprise FMC. Small, but mighty in spirit.
**Kalpar! Especially that description of him in his glory. ::winkie face::
**Love the proximity and SFR trope! Plus Alpha Male
**The spicy spice was niiice!

This book has a great HEA with enough mystery to drive the story line for another story AND I want more on TOMLIN! 4 stars and 3 spicy emojis!

These aliens - I love them!
I feel sorry for Constance. So many unreasonable restrictions under her father’s ’care.’ Marshall Thompson’s plans for his daughter were foiled when he chose Kalpar as her guard. It makes me laugh! I love Kalpar and his decision to keep Constance safe, no matter the cost. This is almost a slow burn, as these two take time to know each other. I love their story with all the excitement, dangers, and best of all, their romance. Sweet reading!

I really liked this book. I did feel like the synopsis is a little misleading though. Poor Constance has only ever been seen as a commodity to her father. One that is overly controlled and isolated. Kalpar, looking into some incidences at the farm compound that her father is behind, is hired as her 24/7 body guard. And wonderful tropey goodness ensues. The intro takes a bit to build but once it gets going it really runs.

"How The Aliens Were Won" is one of my favorite series by Honey. Her imagination really is fascinating in how she describes her characters to the greatest and yummiest detail. I felt like I was the one exploring Kalpar. And Constance- always protected by her cold father, to the extent she wasn't allowed friends or to go out. Intriguing plot twists, danger, cruelty, gentleness and a strong connection make for a wonderful tale.

Kalpar and Constance, were definitely the epitome of opposites attract. I loved how strong she was, to have to put up with her virtual captivity, while still trying to do good deeds in her very limited freedom. Kalpar needed her as much as she needed him. They had amazing chemistry and despite his reticence to break his cover, love finds a way. There is a sweet, slow buildup of sexual chemistry as well as enough tense and dramatic moments to make this book unputdownable!

A great add to the series. While this is a standalone, the books are best enjoyed if read in order. Kalpar is hired on to be a bodyguard for Constance, going undercover seeking answers on why her father is interested in his farming community land. He soon finds that unexpectedly Constance is his fated mate. He has to get over his distrust of women, and realized that she is not how he perceived.

I loved this book. It was such a sweet read. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Kalpar and Constance. Great chemistry between them. The story was a fast-paced adventure with action and danger. Even so, one of my favorite scenes was a short one where Kalpar gently and patiently brushed out the tangles from her long, curly hair. It was sweet and I always thought it cute for the big strong guy to brush out or care for his girl's hair. 5 stars.

Kalpar goes undercover and finds his fated mate, not exactly the mission he was sent on.

This was a great adventure with plenty of romance as they attempt to find out who wants their ranch so badly. They now know the who, but still don't understand the why. This was an excellent addition to the world of the warriors looking for a second chance in life and love.

Another great story by Honey Phillips! How Constance is such a sweet person considering who raised her and how she was raised is a mystery. But she's so sweet! And luckily, Kalpar ended up being her new bodyguard. If only her wretched father had known what would come of that decision! Great characters, as always in this series. Loved the story and loved watching their relationship form and strengthen.

A new favourite!

I absolutely loved this! The innocent, sheltered daughter of a mob boss, longing for freedom and a big broody former alien warrior posing as her bodyguard to get info on her father= bound to fall in love!!
I loved Kalpar and Constance, he was protective and sweet and she was a little shy but so kind and caring and stonger than she looks. Add in a little drama and suspense and I couldn’t get enough of their story, so good!!

Amazing series and story! Kalpar is Constance's new bodyguard but he also has a mission to find out why her father is interested in the farms. Also, her evil father is basically selling her to an evil alien. Kalpar and Constance's attraction to each other is immediate. I love the way Kalpar sees the real Constance and how unhappy she is. They run away to begin a new life together but there are a few problems along their travel to the farms. Enjoyable read with a happy ending!
