Lyle "Ten" Hardy is a legend at Blunts. The house subs beg him for scenes. Other members envy his skill and prominence. But the changes Master Logan has brought to Blunts have exposed Ten's feet of clay. Now Ten faces an ultimatum from the talk to the new club therapist, the beguiling redhead Krissy, or get out.
It's time Ten had his say. And it will be on his terms.

Master Ten always came across as fearsome, but with Eight Out of Ten,i saw a different man…. Mistress Juliet may say he’ll never be more than an eight out of ten,but who is a ten out of ten, really? After reading his journal, after seeing him open up at the forced sessions he’s had with Blunts’ new sub, therapist in training Krissy,i understand him so much better. Knowing the shadows that haunt him,the physical pains that trouble him…..they all show his vulnerability, and his flaws. Don’t tell him i said that, because he’d probably hate being seen as vulnerable. I ám very glad Krissy is helping him see the flaws in his thinking and acting, though. She’s gotten through to him on a level no one expected, least of all him. And it’s changing the way he tops Briar Rose,as well as the other subs at Blunts….. But when what happens to Fleur happens,it makes the shadows roar back to life. It makes him doubt himself,it makes him feel guilty,it makes him want to go after those responsible. But what about what Fleur needs? Will he be able to see,and give her what she needs most? A monster of her own? To keep her safe from the big bad world? After this revealing and beautiful ARC i need Midnight Fleur’s Monsters, badly!!!
Plot: Master Ten has been ordered by his club to attend therapy. As a concession, he'll meet with the new house submissive, who is a counselor in her spare time. She gives him support and food for thought and at the end of it all, will we see a new Ten? Stick around!
Commentary: It's still difficult for me to forgive Ten - I bet a lot of people feel that way (although if Bren can, I guess...). Despite that, I found myself softening just a little. I know what it's like to live with chronic pain and it can turn your mood foul. Not that it's okay to treat people badly, but I have found myself snappier than a situation warrants when one of my worst migraines comes on, so I can only imagine how Ten might react when things get really bad for him.
One thing I was really surprised about was Ten's financial situation. I got the impression (mostly from reading Logan's stories, I guess) that most everyone at the club was upper middle class (doing well for themselves) to upper class (doing REALLY well for themselves). But Ten hasn't quite reached that level and instead, spends most of his money on his club membership. I wonder if some of the other club members might be surprised about how much Ten is willing to sacrifice personally to remain a part of the club. I wonder if it would change their opinions of him (it wouldn't excuse some of his behavior but it might reframe it).
I love that Krissy is calling him on the worst of his tendencies, but in a way that he can ultimately accept. When he said "you are not my equal" I almost threw my phone! I was so glad that she put him in his place (but in a way that made sense in the situation).
I loved reading these little slice-of-life stories, especially as they are happening at the same time as some of the action in Daddy P.I. 3.0. It just fills out the family a little more!
This is a Collection of BDSM Stories set in a BDSM Club, called Blunts. The stories are told from the POV of the Main Male Character in the stories. It is set up in Journal Style which I liked a lot.
There are a lot of smutty BDSM scenes with several different females and one male. I thought that they were great, but you should be prepared for a lot of smut and BDSM scenes, with butt stuff.
The MMC is a Sadistic Dom and he is also a Veteran with A variety of injuries that he usually just doesn’t talk about, he is very stoic and rarely ever shares anything to do with his feelings or his history in the Military.
Part of the collection is him in therapy sessions with a therapist at Blunts the BDSM club he belongs to. Blunts is the BDSM club that Logan and Emily from Daddy P. I. Belong to and the other characters from the series also appear or are mentioned in this story, so this story should be read after one reads the other books in this series in order for one to understand this collection and what is going on better.
I really enjoyed this collection and I read it in a few hours today. If you like a good collection of BDSM stories with a lot of smutty scenes and butt stuff, you are sure to enjoy it quite a lot like I did.
There is also a mystery at the end, so the last story sort of ends on a bit of a cliffhanger in some ways. Because the mystery is not resolved, one needs to read the next book for how some of the characters end up. I do recommend it highly just letting you know that some issues are not resolved as yet.
Oh Ten...why are you making me like you. I'm not supposed to like every single person in a series. You were supposed to be the one I don't like. You're still a bit unlikeable, but I'm rooting for you. I hope I witness your HEA.
As a fan of the Daddy P.I. series, I've wanted more from Ten for a while. Wanting to know how he ticks. Wanting to understand how he could treat Brenna the way he did and this book gets to some of those parts. It links in with the last book, too, so get a feel of how other characters are feeling with the wolf pack and the things they are doing. I really enjoyed this book, and as always, I can't wait for more.
As a long-time fan of the Daddy P.I. Casefiles, "Eight Out of Ten" by E J Frost provided a compelling and intense journey into the world of Blunts. This seventh book in the series centers around Lyle "Ten" Hardy, a legendary figure whose mastery and dominance are both revered and feared.
What drew me to this installment was its focus on Ten's internal struggles. Known for his skill and prominence at Blunts, Ten now faces the harsh realities brought about by Master Logan's changes. The introduction of Krissy, the new club therapist, adds a fascinating dynamic. Her presence is not just a professional challenge for Ten, but also a deeply personal one.
E J Frost masterfully captures the complex nature of Ten's character. He is both powerful and flawed, a man who has built his reputation on strength but now must confront his vulnerabilities. The ultimatum from the Chairman forces Ten to navigate a new terrain, where opening up about his past and his demons is the only way forward. This vulnerability adds depth to his character and makes his journey all the more relatable.
Krissy's role is pivotal. She is not just a therapist but a beacon of understanding and empathy. Her interactions with Ten are charged with tension and significance, making every conversation between them a battle of wills and emotions. Through Krissy, we see Ten's journey towards self-forgiveness and acceptance.
The collection of eight short stories provides a multifaceted look at Ten's life, interweaving moments of intense dominance with those of introspection and growth. Frost's writing is both raw and captivating, drawing readers into the emotional and psychological depths of her characters.
"Eight Out of Ten" is a powerful addition to the Daddy P.I. Casefiles, offering a nuanced exploration of power, vulnerability, and redemption. E J Frost continues to deliver stories that are not only deeply engaging but also emotionally resonant. This book is a must-read for fans of the series and anyone who appreciates complex characters and mature themes.
For me, as someone who has followed Ten's journey, this book was a deeply satisfying read. It provides a window into the soul of a character who has always been a bit of an enigma, and it does so with grace and insight. I highly recommend it.

I had absolutely no idea what this book would be about since I had not read any of the other books first. Now I have them on my TBR list, need to learn more about Logan and the other Doms, too.
Anyway, this is about a Dom at the club who is required to do therapy appointments with the in-house counselor regarding something that happened in a previous book. You can figure it out as this book evolves. “Ten” is the Dom and the journal works through his thoughts and feelings about things at the club and with the subs, but also things from his military past that still impact him in a big way today. Ten appears to be generally intuitive about what the subs in his scenes need, and is a popular Master, but Krissy, the sub/therapist, gets him to reflect even more on his motivations and the way he approaches the needs of his subs during the scenes. He becomes more emotionally involved with one sub toward the end, setting it up for another book.
There are explicit scenes with subs in the book which aren’t going to be for all readers, but Ten is thoughtful about actions during the scenes and aware at all times of the needs of his subs. The book held my attention and it was interesting to see the growth Ten made as he worked through his therapy so far, going from short, succinct answers to more thoughtful written expressions, letting more of himself out. Very interesting peek into the mind of a Dom.

Eight Out of Ten is a set in the Daddy P.I. Casefiles world and should not be read with the expectation of a standalone collection. Rather it is another connection between Daddy P.I. 3.0 and the upcoming book in the series. Master Ten has been a very controversial figure so far and this collection of stories written from his POV as journal entries really gives us insight into this complex and broken man. And what lies beneath the surface of the sadist is truly surprising. Now I'm even more impatient to see what the future has in store for him and the subs at Blunts!.

Seriously. If you have read books in the Daddy PI universe, you know exactly how likeable Ten is. He's not. At all. At. All.
And yet this series of therapy sessions and assignments do the impossible and made me view him through a lens of empathy and compassion. He in no way is a different person. He is still a broody cactus of a man, but you see him start to tackle some deep rooted issues. You see him crack open just a little bit, and most importantly, he starts to make amends.
I can't believe I am saying this, but I need more Ten.
These are some great snapshots of Master Ten in the Daddy PI world. Just like therapy, it starts off slow, but improves with each story/journal entry. I totally see Master Ten in a different light. I would have loved to have seen more about Ten's jealousy of Logan. But I think the therapy has made a huge difference and I'd love to see more of Ten. I can't believe we have to wait until next year for the next installment in this series.
Master Ten is an enigma, an enigma who broke all of the rules when Bren quit as a house sub. Why? I could tell there was more to Ten than met the eye, and here, as he undergoes mandatory therapy for his behaviour, we dig below the surface and find the decent man with demons aplenty. Brilliant characterisation by EJ Frost, and an excellent addition to this wonderful series. I devoured it.
What an outstanding collection of journal entries! At the beginning of the book, I have to admit that Ten was not my favorite character by a long shot. But leave it to EJ Frost to *somehow* get us to like an unlikable character! I'm so glad I understand him better now, and I'm really hoping he gets his own HEA.
Hi I read and enjoyed this ebook … “ Eight Out of Ten “: A Daddy P.I. Story Collection, Book 7 of Daddy P.I. Casefiles … by E J Frost. Investigating very private steamy matters … I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This almost felt like a character study of Ten which I loved. As someone who lives with chronic pain and who's not exactly well off in a group of people who are Ten became a lot more relatable.
