When my daughter was about five, we were driving across Wyoming when she exclaimed, "I think the moon is following us!" It became a core memory of parenthood, filed away into the bank vault of kid quotes, more precious than gold. So when I saw that DWJ was putting out a comic with those very words in it, I knew immediately that it would deal with parenthood and be full of all the heart that a DWJ story always is. I'm stoked to see where this goes...

Stellar art, Fun and meaningful story, and amazing character designs. This was completely up my alley, and when I saw the just title alone on my local LCS's "New releases" list, something told me to go grab it. Well, I'm glad I did and now I'm hooked. Can't wait to see what else this story has coming.

The only thing that kept me from rating this debut issue of "The Moon Is Following Us" a full five stars is that I spent most of it confused about the exact direction of the plot. However, given his track record, I trust Daniel Warren Johnson's storytelling ability to bring it all home and, sure enough, he knocks it out of the park in the final page, setting up what seems like a wild and wildly emotional mini-series. Of course, I love DWJ's art - so dynamic! so gritty! - but Riley Rossmo really holds his own in the dreamier sequences set in the Cascade. Though a little vague, the world-building in this comic is ripe for exploration and the characters, even in these brief few pages, are starting to develop into nuanced protagonists. And that final shot! I'm so glad this series is already on my pull list (yeah, I'll subscribe to anything Johnson's involved with now). The moon is following us and I'm following this comic.

We’re in for another tearjerker from DWJ and co. Sam and Duncan reminiscing about the birth of their daughter while she lays incapacitated just destroyed me…Rossmo is such a good collaborator on this book, too. His nightmare monsters are wicked and weird. This is going to be a good one.
