Still married.
Those words change everything.

Now my should-be ex-husband, Ramsey Stockton, the former pro football star turned felon and hero who left this town—and me—behind years ago, is at my door offering me a deal with the devil.

If I let him stay and play his wife again for ninety days, he’ll give me a quiet divorce and his family ranch—the one my inn is on.

When I scoff at the idea, he offers a million-dollar bonus to help my business float through this rough patch, but only if I’m his.

Then he’ll walk away, and I can walk down the aisle with my fiancé. Or I can say no and watch everything I’ve worked so hard for fall apart.

There’s only one answer I can afford to give him. But he knows everything about me—every hurt, every secret, and every single weakness I have, including him.

And while Ramsey might want me, his brothers want him back in the family business.

If there's one universal truth in this town, it's that Stockton men stop at nothing to get what they want.

It's here!! It's here! Omg it's here. "Maggie After Dark" is here!!! It's here in the form of "Bull Rush" and I am sooooo here for all of it! Maggie has finally entered her MAD Era! Move over Taylor, this is the new Eras tour. Maggie has finally dipped her toe into the dark side - at least dark for Maggie - and I feel like we need to just dub this correctly: This IS "Maggie After Dark". And I need all the MAD merch!

So let me back myself up a bit, because I don't want to mislead anyone: this is not like a dark-dark romance. There are so many really, really dark books out there - the scale goes from marginally grey to the darkest of dark, and I don't want folks to think that I'm implying that this is some dark black hole of debauchery and alpha, chauvinistic jerks who are probably a part of some Bratva or mafia or crime organization. This isn't that. Butttttt this certainly has very dark undertones and it has an indecent proposal, questionable morals, scandal, "whodunnit", mixed in with a give-and-take of the MMC and MFC and their *ehem* smexy times (fan me off, please), as well as about a dozen other undertones - and overtones. (Is overtones a word even? ... I just mean there's more underneath the surface as well as on top of the surface). And all of this is wrapped up in the typical Maggie Rawdon way with her amazing writing. Sign me up, right?!?! My sentiments exactly.

So Maggie left us in her last series with a glimpse into Ramsay and those snapshots were all so very delicious. We craveddddd to know more about him. So what does Maggie do? She departs the sports world and drops us smack-dab-in-the-middle of cowboy country! That's right, this has a bit of the cowboy trope. *drool* Maggie's just like "you're welcome!" And before continuing, let me say that this book can totally be read as a standalone but for those who've read the previous series, it's so enjoyable knowing the tidbits and easter eggs of the past that are revealed throughout the story. (Maybe I was specifically screaming at the end when Madison and Bea got their dream... agh, I can't say more! But omg I flipped over this scene!!!!) So back to cowboy country: Ramsay in Wranglers and riding a horse??? Giiiiiirl, sign me up! Just give me all the ranch and horse and cowboy things - all damn day long!!!!

For fear of giving things away, I'm trying to tread so carefully right now and it's soooo hard! The morally grey start of this mixed with the indecent proposal - oh man!!! The premise of this book has us scratching our heads and questioning our own morals - like.... am I really here for all of that? Would "I" ever consider... with my ex-husband... but he's technically still my... and we have unresolved issues... and he's looking better than ever... and I just want to torture him a little bit while getting some revenge and getting what I need out of the deal... I mean, what could possibly go wrong with that? Am I right? .... well, that's what Maggie thought when she put this one together. With that premise in place, what unfolds next will have the reader on the edge of their seat with suspense, angst, smoldering heat that will have you uncomfortably rubbing your thighs together while squirming in your seat, then yelling at the book at two characters in particular right before you chuck that son of a gun right across the room, right before gasping for air when it all begins to come together. I know, I know - there's a lot here.

So buckle up boys and girls, you're about to go on one hell of a ride. Just, a word of advice, prepare yourself. Have reinforcements and refreshments ready, you're not going to want to put this one down. Put the cold compress around your neck to keep you cool because those spicy scenes? Ohhh girl, they be a spicin'! And you'll want something to chew on besides your nails because the suspense will otherwise have you chewing those suckers down to the cuticle. Mine might still be recovering... just maybe. And I'm quite frankly also in recovery because this one put me through the wringer - at times I didn't know if I was coming or going. I wasn't sure where Maggie was taking us, but she can lead me blind and in the dark, I trust her implicitly. And my blind faith in her with her MAD venture was so rewarding because.... dayum! This is the easiest five stars! Just... just, go read it!!! And do it NOW!

This book was so much fun!!! It had me hooked straight away, and I am now obsessed with maggies writing and am in need of her whole backlist.😅

This is a dark second chance, divorce of convenience between Hazel and Ramsey, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't obsessed.

Somehow, Ramsey wins us over nearly straight away even with his cocky attitude. His love for Hazel was so strong and honestly beautiful to read.

Hazel had such a strong attitude, and let me tell you, I am here for it. She never backed down from a fight or conflict and always stood her ground. If you are looking for a strong mc, Hazel is definitely one.

The tension between the two was amazing! The way these two were able to sort out their problems and grow was nice to see as well.

I highly recommend this!

Tropes:
-Divorce of convenience
-Hate to love
-Morally grey hero
-Small town
-Forced proximity
-Former football player

Release date: 27.9.24

Thank you so much Maggie Rawdon for sending me an ARC❤️

You know every time I read a book, there is always a scene that will live rent free in my brain. But I have never had an ENTIRE book live rent free until Bull Rush. And I am so excited Maggie decided to step out of sports romance to deliver this banger! If I could give this infinite stars I would! I loved everything about this book so let's talk about my favorite parts!

First things, I love Ramsey! I loved him in the Queen City series and I needed his book after Mine to Gain and this book lived up to all of my expectations and more! In fact I NEED and WANT more! Ramsey has quite the history that you learn about in this book. He is slightly tortured and pining of his ex-wife. And when he found out his ex-wife is actually still very much his wife, he decided to go after what he wanted in a VERY Ramsey fashion and it made me feral.

Now Hazel, I loved her! She was such a spitfire! She's also slightly tortured and was left heartbroken after Ramsey left for the NFL. Now when she found out she was in fact still very much married but engaged to a different man, she had a very different reaction to Ramsey being back into her life. And boy did she make him work for it. She has such a fun personality. The fact that they tried to get even with each other was my favorite part.

I loved the plot of this book. It was a plot that I have never read before and it had me hooked from the beginning. If you read Mine to Gain, you know Ramsey was accused of murder and he is back in his hometown to serve out the rest of his parole where his mission is to win back his wife. But he bribes her with a contract of sorts that will grant her a divorce but let's face it, he has no intention in divorcing Hazel. Not only was the plot suspenseful with a touch of dark elements, it will keep you turning the page to see what will happen next. Now the spice, is on a while other level. Each scene will live rent free. It was so different then anything I have ever read and it had me gasping with my jaw on the floor. Like I'm gagged and in a chokehold.

So yeah, I give this book ALL of the stars and it is a TOP READ of the year for me. Absolutely loved it and I know she set this book up to be the beginning of a new series. And all I am going to say is I am excited for more of this world in the future! Maggie, you out did yourself on this one and I am so glad you step out of your sports romance bubble to deliver this masterpiece!

So please do yourself a favor and add this one to your TBR and you can thank me later!

You should add this one to your TBR if you like:

WOW!! HOLY F*CK! THIS BOOK WAS A MASTERPIECE!! Maggie never fails to amaze me! She is sooo creativity & I love her writing soooo much!! When Maggie announced that Ramsey was getting a book, I WAS SOOO EXCITED, and it did not disappoint. I think this is by far my favorite by Maggie so far. Maggie is in her dark era and I am soo here for it!

Bull Rush follows Ramsey & Hazel Stockton where they both find out that their divorce was never actually finalized. Ramsey is back on his family’s ranch while on parole and he wants one thing. He wants his wife back. He is going to do whatever it takes to get her back. However, he learns that she is now engaged. Hazel wants him to sign the papers so they both can get on with their lives, but Ramsey will only sign them on one condition. 90 days of her being HIS WIFE and then he will give her everything she wanted.

RAMSEY IS PERFRECTION!! If you know me, I love me a tortured soul and Ramsey fits it perfectly. I think he is my favorite MMC written by Maggie so far. I couldn’t put this down. Hazel was a hard shell to crack, she made her ex WORK FOR IT and HE DID. She stayed true to herself and wasn’t going have her heart broken again. BUT BUT once she gave in. I WAS UNWELL. The mouth on Ramsey. I was overheating. I highlighted so many scenes in this book that will 100% live in my mind RENT FREE.

If Maggie writes it, I will DEVOUR IT. They have my heart, and I can’t stop thinking about them. The spice. The plot. It was everything I needed and more.

As always when it comes to a Maggie Rawdon book, this was so good. I’ve been so excited waiting for Ramsey to get his story and it was even better than I hoped for. This book had it all, marriage of convenience, hate to love, forced proximity, indecent proposal and a morally grey MMC, what’s not to love?? And all these new characters, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them!

I was borderline negligent with my children while reading this book because I couldn’t put the damn thing down.

Seriously.

I am officially in my dark romance era and Maggie freakin delivered with this one!

“Sugar, when it comes to you, I remember every single thing. Like you were branded on my soul.”

Ramsey is a dirty, dirty man.. and apparently all I’ve ever wanted in a book boyfriend. Poor Hazel does her best to resist, but it’s just impossible. Hello blurred lines and dirty fantasies.

My god. It was so wrong, it made it so damn right.

I ate up every single word. That ending has me itching for more already and I need it. I think I’m addicted. Who’s next?! 👀

Thank you, Maggie Rawdon for officially converting me into a dark romance girlie.

HOLY F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT DID I JUST READ!!! This has become by far my favorite Maggie book. Maggie you deserve all the stars, all the foreheads kisses bc this book was absolute perfection and I will never be over it. Who knew that I needed a dark cowboy romance with a divorce of inconvenience in my life.

I don’t want to spoil anything so I will keep this vague and short. This book had my dropping my jaw several times while reading. No one does spice like Maggie IMO and literally does not know how she comes up with some of these things but I am so glad she does. Ramsey is definitely one of the hottest and dirtiest MMCs I have ever read so therefore he is my favorite Maggie man to date. Sorry Tobias…but LIKE HOLY HELL!!! That spit scene he has…IYKYK like WTF was that so hot!!!!!

This one is so different than anything I have ever read from Maggie before and I am not upset in the slightest about it. She takes you on a wild ride and you will enjoy every second of it. There is Suspense, darkness, humor, revenge, spice, emotions, forgiveness…and it all comes together perfectly.

I highly recommend this one and going into as blind as you can. I cannot wait to see where Maggie takes this series and I am already salivating at the mouth for more. Thank you to Maggie and Wordsmith for the eARC.

If Maggie writes it, I know just I am going to love it. And Bull Rush is no exception! I absolutely devoured this book!

She has been edging us with Ramsey’s story after his life turned upside down in the last book. And the way she gives us Ramsey and Hazel’s story is pure perfection.

🖤Divorce of convenience
🖤Hate to love
🖤Second chance romance
🖤Forced proximity
🖤Morally grey characters
🖤Pierced Hero
🖤SPICY

Ramsey is about to be paroled from jail and needs to settle for a bit before he can go back to, hopefully, playing football again. And during the parole process, he finds out that his divorce from years ago never actually went through. So he is still married to the one woman that has always been his true love. So now he is being given a second chance to write his wrongs.

The problem? She engaged to be married and absolutely hates Ramsey and how he left year five years ago.

I loved both of these characters so much - I admire the strength that Hazel has had to have other the years to keep her life afloat. And Ramsey is such a growly teddy bear so has been on the wrong side of luck throughout his life.

The character depth that Maggie gives us for these two characters is fantastic. Both Hazel and Ramsey have been through hell and back, both together and apart. Their hate to love relationship in this book had me laughing out loud at their banter to shedding some tears at the emotions that it was pulling out of me.

There are so many moving parts and I can’t wait to see which way this series heads next!

No notes, absolute perfection. This has easily made its way to my top book by Maggie Rawdon, and one of my top reads this year! This entire book will live rent free in my head and I am a-ok reliving these scenes on repeat.

Ramsey and Hazel thought they divorced years ago, but turns out the paperwork was not filed and they are in fact still married. When Ramsey gets out of prison, he moves back to the ranch to finish his parole. Hazel is now engaged and wants Ramsey to sign the divorce papers, but Ramsey will only sign them on one condition - 90 days and he will sign the papers and give her the ranch.

Ramsey is my man!!! He’s a pierced, morally grey cowboy and my gosh was he ever perfect. He’s willing to do anything to win his wife back and finally be together again. And my girl Hazel, she really knows how to make a man work. She stayed true to herself and didn’t give into Ramsey easily but when she did - WOW.

As always, Maggie slays with the spice but this book was so much more. The tropes, the plot, the twists - every single element of this book was so carefully thought out and perfected that it had me consumed.

Morally grey hero
Hate to love

Bull Rush was so deliciously addictive and bingeable. Maggie Rawdon takes a triumphant step into dark western, AND I AM HERE FOR IT. The alluring premise, the drama, the epic tension, the epic spice, and most of all the magnetic and fiery characters- I was transfixed by Ramsey and Hazel’s complicated second chance. It’s edgy, it’s sexy, it’s a little unhinged, and like all Maggie Rawdon books, it’s got all the FEELS.

Oh we’ve been waiting for the mysterious Ramsey. And Maggie does not disappoint. Ramsey and Hazel are fire- SUPPOSED to be exes somehow “still married” now living a lie, staying married to benefit them both. Ramsey has wonderful sharp edges and a tortured soul, but he also LONGS for his wife in the most heartstopping way. He’s practically feral for her- so we KNOW he’s going to go hard during this stay married farce, even if she’s engaged to another. And Hazel is full of sass and steel, but she’s also got a beautiful heart….but she’s not going to make this easy on Ramsey. She’s marrying another…AND Ramsey tore her heart out. GAH so much push and pull, the banter, the tension murky and hot between them. And Ramsey- LAWDY someone ran me. Morally gray hero with all the dirty talk and unapologetic about going after what he wants. Heart and panty melting.

Paired with some dark suspense and plenty of drama, it’s page turning DELICIOUSNESS. Bull Rush is a wild ride (and no, I’m not just talking about Ramsey)- and I loved immersing myself in this new Maggie era.

I’m in my dark cowboy romance era, and Maggie Rawdon’s newest release scratched that itch, babies.

📕 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Bull Rush by Maggie Rawdon

📙 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: TBD

📗 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: E-book ARC on Kindle. 🆓 on KU.

📘 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗲: Dark romance

📔 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: Second chance, sports romance, cowboy, they’re toxic AF, extra spicy, love triangle, suspense.

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Hazel is just trying to make ends meet running her Inn and planning her upcoming wedding when she learns she’s still legally married to her ex husband. Ramsay just got released from prison, and needs somewhere to stay while on parole. He barges his way into her life, and plans to win her heart again.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: This might be a bittttt like those long stories before a recipe, but…

I met Maggie Rawdon at a signing event earlier this year. I’ve always been drawn to her books, but always put them off. I got approved for this ARC and kind of shrugged my shoulders, viewing it as an opportunity to get into her writing FINALLY.

You know those books you know are a 5-star read before you even finish them? This was one of those.

Ramsay… he’s a felon, a murderer, a football player (lol) and he’s obsessed with his wife. Him and Hazel are all fiery passion. The spice in this book is next level, and both characters are hard not to love, especially together.

Maggie Rawdon also made enough awesome side characters that I had to actually slide into her DMs and ask what’s next. Spoiler… something - but I didn’t get details.

𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹: 4/5 🌶🌶🌶🌶

ARC Review- Bull Rush by Maggie Rawdon

5 ⭐️
3.5 🌶️

This book. Pure perfection. Maggie, not sure what you book in this book but I’m obsessed. This story was just everything I could have ever wanted in a book and more. And divorce of convenience— who even knew that was a trope but man I am here for it 👏🏼

Ramsey Stockton, is our morally gray hero, ex football player and I think I love him 😆. His desire and underlying love for his “ex” wife Hazel is 😍 and the mouth on that man 🥵🫠. The spice, the banter, the tension are all phenomenal. Some of the spice scenes will literally live rent free in my head forever 😮‍💨

Hazel and Ramsey believe that they are divorced but after a mix up they are actually still very much married. Ramsey is back on his families ranch while on parole and Hazel is his end game. He is going to do whatever it takes to get her back. The suspense and plot twists were awesome and the overall writing in this book… SO DANG GOOD. 🙌🏼 1000% recommend this book. Hands down my favorite Maggie book so far!

What to expect:
Dark western romance
Hate to love
Divorce of convenience
Morally gray hero
Former football player
Indecent proposal
Forced proximity
Small town

Thank you so much Maggie for the opportunity to read this as an ARC for my honest opinion and review.

LOVED! Tattooed and a pierced 🍆?

✨ divorce of convenience
✨ forced proximity
✨ second chance
✨ hate to love
✨ lots of “my wife”
✨ small town cowboy
✨ ex con football player

Releases September 27th but I already need to scream about this book from the roof tops. I had the BEST TIME with Ramsey and Hazel. This second chance, divorce of convenience between Hazel and her brother’s best friend and first love. When 5 years ago grief and circumstances tore them apart Ramsey is back after a stint in prison and looking to rewrite his wrongs. But Hazel is set on getting remarried so Ramsey makes her a deal, 90 days to be his wife, in and out of bed and the inn and ranch are hers. But they always say there’s a fine line between love and hate.

This book had me giddy. I was giggling and squealing at the tension between Hazel and Ramsey. From the very first chapter I couldn’t help but fall in love with Ramsey and his cocky attitude and the one woman can bring him to his knees. They had the hottest tension and undeniable pull between them under layers of hurt. I love watching them pull back the layers of hurt with each other and go into what exactly pulled them apart. Add in two groups on brothers, some town shenanigans and a little bit of a suspense aspect that will have your jaw hanging at the very end.

There’s literally nothing I didn’t love about this book. Hazel had such a strong attitude that was the perfect match for Ramsey, they truly are two soulmates who let life get in the way years ago and finally find their way back to each other.

10/10. I adored this. I loved this. It was everything I needed. So mark your calendar for a tattooed football playing ex con with a pierced appendage, add on the dark and broody cowboy vibes. Daddy? Sorry

Thank you so much @maggierawdonbooks for letting me read this and obsess over this book in your DMs 🥹

THIS BOOK, Y’ALL!!! A total jaw dropper!! I’m kinda speechless. This book blew me away. I will follow Maggie into this new era and any other she decides to go into. Each book just keeps getting better and better.

Hazel and Ramsey Stockton find out five years later that they’re still married. Hazel is currently engaged, so of course she wants to get the divorce finalized as quickly as possible. Ramsey ,after getting out of prison ,goes back home to his ranch that Hazel currently lives and works on. Ramsey has a plan to avoid this divorce, since he wants Hazel back. Ramsey makes a deal with her to stay married for 90 days. The prize …the ranch is hers. He has one rule …that she will be his wife in every form. He doesn’t care that she’s engaged.

Bulk Rush is a dark Cowboy Romance with suspense , revenge, great plot twist, forgiveness, witty banter, and hot AF spice. I was so intrigued the whole time.
Hazel’s character is stubborn and independent. She needed to protect her heart.
Now, let’s talk about Ramsey MF’n Stockton. He is definitely a bit unhinged and one of the hottest MMC’s in Maggie’s universe. The spice scene were jaw dropping chefs kiss perfection. I’m so excited to see what journey Maggie is taking us on next.

Tropes: marriage of inconvenience, hate to love, second chance, forced proximity, dark cowboy romance, morally grey, brother’s best friend, ex football player.

Thank you so much Maggie for the ARC!

Holy freakin’ moly. That was not only so fucking hot, but also so, so good. Like the plot, the suspense, the spice, the characters, ALL OF IT! I loved it so freaking much!!

Maggie does spice so well and I swear this might be her best yet. I highly recommend reading Mine to Gain first so that you don’t have that book spoiled for you because you’ll go into this one loving Ramsey already!! I’m so glad he got a book!!

Alsoooooo that ending 😲🤯 the way she’s gonna tie things together. Stop. I love that so much!! I cannot wait for the next book!!

Lastly!! Go in blind. As blind as you can. You’ll love it so much more that way!!

Favorite moments:
“You can take it. You’re a good little wife, Haze. So good for me. I’ll reward you with my mouth later, suck on that sweet clit of yours for hours on my knees if you give me this.”

“You’re so fucking merciless. Let me come on your pretty lips. If you won’t let me kiss them, at least let me paint them. Please.”

MAGGIE’S BEST BOOK HANDS DOWN. I am actually feral for this man, but let’s talk about Hazel because I think I’m in love with her too.

Okay, so let me just say I go into books EXTREMELY blind. Like I don’t read blurbs, I don’t read tropes… sometimes this is the BEST way to do it and let me say that I 100% recommend doing it this way for this book. My jaw was on the floor for half of this book. Maggie absolutely killed the suspense aspect of this story and I am BEGGING her to write more like this.

I don’t want to give too much away because there’s so many twists and turns through this book that will definitely grab you by the throat and make you hold on for dear life, but that’s what makes it so freaking amazing.

And I’m sorry, Divorce of Convenience?! Never heard of the trope but Maggie absolutely KILLED it. This book was so different from anything I’ve ever read and so different from her other books, and again… it was just INCREDIBLE.

I cannot wait for more from these characters and I hope she has stories for some of the side characters in this book in store for us!

PHENOMENAL!!! If Maggie writes it, I’m going to read it but this one took her writing to the next level and I am completely OBSESSED with her darker romance!!!

Bull Rush is so addicting and pulls you right in from the start with a unique divorce of convenience plot while then taking you on a wild ride full of scorching hot banter, palpable tension, building suspense, darkness, character growth, side characters you’ll fall in love with, unforgettable spice and also a beautifully written story about a second chance at love! Maggie’s writing is so incredibly captivating making this a book you won’t want to put down. I completely devoured it from start to finish and cannot recommend it enough!!

This is a brand new series but you do first meet Ramsey in “Mine To Gain”and find out what happens to him. (I do highly suggest reading that first!) Now months later Ramsey is headed home to Colorado for parole after getting out of jail. However, he finds out his divorce was never finalized years ago and is still married to his ex Hazel…who is now engaged.

I don’t want to say too much more as this book is just INCREDIBLE going in blind and experiencing it as you read. I gasped, my jaw dropped, I was mind blown, and had to cool myself MANY times😮‍💨. This story just takes you on an addicting adventure that Maggie flawlessly brings together in an ending that already has me ITCHING FOR MORE!!!

Can we talk about the spice?!? Maggie always delivers with the absolute best steamy moments in her books but somehow she takes it up a notch once again! The UNFORGETTABLE scenes in this book😮‍💨🔥 “The kitchen” will be a scene living in my head forever!!!

Overall, I am absolutely LOVING Maggie in her darker era!!! The complexity of this story was executed perfectly from beginning to end while also making you fall in love with everything Purgatory Falls. I loved all the hints for what is to come in this small town and cannot wait to see what Maggie does next!!! Just a masterpiece!!!

I’d like to start this review by saying that Maggie Rawdon is one of my absolute favorite authors of all time. I adore every single one of her sports romance books and recommend her, wholeheartedly, to every single reader that I know.
You’re having a bad day? There’s a Maggie book for that.
You’re feeling sassy? There’s a Maggie book for that.
You’re in need of a reformed playboy and some witty banter in your life? There’s a Maggie book for that…

When I was told that she was writing a dark cowboy romance, I was thrilled! Having met Ramsey in Bea and Cooper’s book, “Mine to Gain”, my anticipation level was heightened for weeks while I waited to get a second taste of this hulking bad boy’s story.

In Bull Rush, we meet Hazel, who is believed to be Ramsey’s ex-wife and former college sweetheart.
She’s running the Stockton family Inn,& barely scraping by since he’s been gone for the past five years, pursuing a football career in a big city away from his brothers and small hometown.
She also has a fiancé…

At the beginning of Bull Rush, Ramsey is being released from jail after the final events in Mine to Gain.

While I loved the initial interactions between Ramsey and Hazel, filled with banter and a heavy dose of sarcasm and infuriating smirks , I feel like their chemistry and tumultuous history was never fully delved into, therefore it never quite materialized for me as a reader. it was important for me to get a glimpse of what they were longing for in their past as husband and wife. I wanted to see, not only their first date, but their first kiss, letters, and notes exchanged, swimming/fishing, family dinners… all the things that would’ve shown me their time as sweethearts.

The trauma that Ramsey endured after finding his parents murdered on his doorstep would have led anyone to feel a need to start over elsewhere.
The entire premise of this book being that Hazel did not go with him to help him realize his football star dreams, and help him with a fresh start that he badly needed for his own mental health, made her come across as someone who did not love him enough to put him & their relationship first. This was a little offputting and made me cringe every single time her and her friends made biting or scathing remarks about Ramsey in the book, because I feel like his decision was understandable and not something to hold against him.

I would have loved to have a full backstory of their developing relationship as teenagers and college sweethearts, because we didn’t get to see anything about the initial draw that they had to one another, and that left the reader wanting more.More tension, more angst, more desire between these two characters. Just… more.
I counted four fade to black scenes of romance between these two, and a lot was left to intuit and imagine,so we never really got to see them burning for one another. I wanted him to throw her over his shoulder and cart her out to the barn. I expected him to be forceful, I wanted non-con/dub con, I wanted him to spank her bratty a$$. He’s a cowboy? Where was the rope? lol in the end, I didn’t find Ramsey to be the least bit “dark”. He actually came across as submissive, and passive, favoring anything Hazel wanted or demanded.
Most of the time when a book is a second chance romance, you will see plenty of development and growth in the characters in the time that they’ve spent apart. To be perfectly frank, Hazel seemed just as passive aggressive and immature as I would expect a teenager experiencing young love and navigating a relationship to be. She toyed with Ramsey’s feelings quite a bit, and that did not endear her to me,in the least.

The ending was open ended, and a “happy for now“, in that we see recurring characters from “Lords of Misrule”, so I know that with all of the buildup with side characters and recurring characters from her previous series, we will see these two again in the future.
I hope to have more of their developing relationship in those installments and give these two another chance to offer me an authentic and believable relationship.
Maggie books are always entertaining, and I found this to definitely be the case with Bull Rush.

ALL THE STARS

“Sugar, when it comes to you, I remember every single thing.”

I will be taking no comments or criticism about this book because in my eyes it was utter perfection. This brings him back to his families ranch after he gets word that his ex wife is still his wife.

“I might not be good enough, but you know a grave couldn’t hold me down from keeping her safe.”

After the event that changed his life, he had time to think about his life choices while in prison and what he would do differently if he had the chance. One of his major regrets was letting Hazel go so he has a plan to ignite the love that was once between them. He comes up with an agreement that will give her what she wants in exchange that they spend the next 90 days living in his childhood home as husband and wife. The man is determined, not even letting her fiancé stop him.

“Do you want me to chase you through a meadow again?”

The push and pull between them was so good as Hazel fights the attraction between them. She was the perfect FMC for Ramsey especially when you how she comforts him during stressful times and understands what he needs before he does. This story has some suspense that had me feral for answers.

“Mine”

The chemistry between these characters leads to some scenes that had me blushing real hard. Ramsey, I see you and that dirty mouth of yours. I’m so intrigued by what other stories Purgatory Falls has to tell and with that ending, I literally can’t wait.

☆ 5/5 & 3.5/5 spice

“I’m f*cked in every possible way because I hate my husband to my core, but I’m also addicted to everything he gives me.”

“F*ck you, Ramsey.” “I intend to. Over and over again until I break you back in, and you remember who holds the f*cking reins.”

Ramsey Motherfckin’ Stockton! 😮‍💨 I was hooked from the very beginning and now I can’t shut up about this book! One of my most anticipated reads and it did not disappoint, fully lived up to my expectations. I love Maggie in her dark romance small town romance era!

Ramsay + Hazel have my whole heart. The hate to love relationship, the tension & banter, the spice was perfection. The nicknames darlin’ + sugar had me feeling weak, I was going feral every time Ramsey called Hazel those nicknames. The spicy scenes in this book were so unhinged and I’m here for it lol, it lives rent free in my head.

I seriously couldn’t put this book down and stayed up all night to binge this book. I think this is by far my fave book you’ve written Maggie! It’s amazing and this book literally deserves infinity stars for how dang good it is. Please pick this book up asap! HIGHLY FREAKIN RECOMMEND.

Think of those scenes that live in your head rent free. Swoony, spicy, jaw dropping twists?? Ya...this whole damn book will live in my head rent free.

Truly if you take any book recommendation from me let it be this one. Absolutely this book will be landing in my top 5 of 2024. Maggie after dark didn't come to play. She nailed this one to perfection.

Divorce of Inconvenience. What is it you ask? Well seems Ramsey & Hazel thought they were divorced but turns out that paperwork was never filed. So now Ramsey is back at his ranch in his hometown of Purgatory Falls to hide & Rideout his parole. This is where he proposes Hazel 90 days to be his wife, then he will sign the papers.

One rule: she is his wife in every form.

He doesn't care about her current relationship, and he will do anything to have her. Hazel doesn't just take it though, love her sass and the push back she gives him.

Honestly though everything about this book, the banter, the touch of suspense, the spice, THE DAMN KITCHEN SCENE.

Yup and don't even think you can guess what he did with his old wedding band 🫣

Maggie, all the congratulations to an amazing release, and welcome to the dark side. I am absolutely here for it!

Dark cowboy romance 🤝 Maggie Rawdon

This is my favorite Maggie book to date 👏🏼👏🏼 Maggie absolutely ATE with this one & I quite literally just have two words to describe it: ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! I have yet to read anything by Maggie that doesn’t deserve a gazillion stars & Bull Rush was no exception. I’m not even phased at how much I highlighted in this book because every interaction between Ramsey & Hazel was just freakin’ phenomenal 🤭 this was my first divorce of convenience story & ya girl just discovered a new favorite trope!

Ramsey was the morally grey cowboy of my dreams 🔥 this man was just perfect, willing to do anything to win hazel back & prove she belonged to him & with him. And Hazel, absolutely loved her. She was so full of fire & really made Ramsey work for it. One of my absolutely favorite FMC’s to date! Their chemistry was also phenomenal & this book had some of the best spice scenes I’ve read 🤌🏼

This was easily one of my top reads of the year & everything about it was just absolutely amazing. The plot, the characters, the banter & tension, the plot twists, I literally have nothing negative to say about this book & I didn’t want it to end!

Thank you Maggie & team for the ARC! 🖤

This is my most anticipated read yet! This is also my first arc from the author so it’s an absolute honor! This was so good!! Coming September 27th to kindle unlimited you’re not going to want to miss this! I loved this even more because Ramsey is my last name haha! But man is Ramsey a charmer! 😉

While Ramsey might want me, his brothers want him back in the family business. If there's one universal truth in this town, it's that Stockton men stop at nothing to get what they want.

I literally have no words. This book completely blew me away. I was enjoying it so much and then it took such a turn and I became completely obsessed. All I have to say is… RAMSEY MOTHERFUCKIN STOCKTON👏👏👏

Second chance romance has really grown on me. I loved the forced proximity between Ramsey&Hazel and how they had to reunite under the circumstances of his parole. And knowing his whole plan all along was to win her back 🥹 Ugh that man still had so much love for that woman. My heart completely broke for him during this book so many times. I really liked Hazels character too. She was fiercely independent and strong and was protective of her heart after her relationship with Ramsey ended 5 years ago. But she’s now currently engaged and Ramsey is NOT having it🤣

The suspense and plot twists in this book were so damn good. I couldn’t put it down. I love that Maggie has entered a darker era in her writing because she’s doing it so well. Lots of secrets and surprises are revealed.

Oh and let me just say, the spicy scenes in this book were unhinged and pure perfection 😮‍💨

This is definitely my favorite book by her.

Thank you so so much Maggie Rawdon for the ARC🤍

3.75⭐️ rounded up, 3.5🌶️

This was my first book by Maggie Rawdon and I devoured it. I’ve heard from friends this is her debut into darker storytelling and I really enjoyed it. Honestly I would have been ok if it was even a little darker, but if you’re new to dark romance this is an excellent gateway.

The spice between the MCs was HOT 🥵 I wish I could share more details but I don’t want to accidentally share a spoiler. I’ve never read a divorce of convenience but it was played really nicely into the story 👌🏼

Overall it was an easy small town romance western read with dark elements and Ramsey and Hazel were such a fantastic couple. There were a lot of side characters throughout the story that were a little hard to keep track of and kind of distracted from the main storyline at times, but it’s set up perfectly for additional interconnected character stories.

I'm just gonna say it.. Bull Rush is Maggie's best yet. This is NOT a book I would have normally picked up, as I don't love dark romance and cowboys are just ok. But, if you sleep on this book you will 100% regret it because HOLY MOLEY YES. It was so good, that some things I typically don't like in a book had me on the freaking edge. I spent half the book with my jaw on the floor and the other half panting. It's perfect.

Ramsey and Hazel were electric! I've been so curious about the elusive Ramsey since Chaos and oh what a story Rawdon had in store for him. Not only did we get to live out his harrowed backstory, but we got a few glimpses into what went down with Cooper and Bea (Mine to Gain). But this story.. whew. It was a rollercoaster from beginning to end, with shock after shock after shock. My jaw was on the floor so many times. The best part? Repurposed jewelry.

Hazel was a MFC I can get behind. I like how in control she was of her life, and how aware she was when the deal went into play. I liked how she wasn't down with Curtis's lackluster attitude and the "it's always been you" vibes were STRONG. There wasn't explicit cheating in Bull Rush, but Rawdon loved to skirt that line for us making for some salacious scenes.

I am so careful because I don't want to ruin this book. Maggie's MAD era is here and the morally grey moments (ok, premise) were the perfect balance. Somehow I was still rooting for the guy who told his ex/current wife that she needed to be his wife for 3 months (in all the ways) if she wanted a clean and uncontested divorce to save her inn and ranch. But you know, Curtis a skeez ball from the beginning so that was ok. And the crossovers/easter eggs. THE. EASTER EGGS. I was screaming and squealing and losing my mind.

Its Maggie Rawdon at her finest, her best book to date, and that's saying a lot because I am a sport girlie. The story was so good, the plot was captivating, the characters were the kind you fall in love with. Maggie's writing is unmatched and I am so grateful to be along for the ride!
