Despite being rejected once by Alex, Tara couldn’t help but lust after the sexy, sophisticated Dom. Rundown and exhausted, sometimes it felt like her fantasies were all that kept her going.
So what if part of her fantasy could become a reality?
Alex wasn’t looking for a relationship. He wasn’t about to trust another woman after his ex-wife cheated on him. But he couldn’t deny the attraction he felt towards Tara. But would the sweet sub be willing to accept his proposal?
He’d take care of her, protect her, dominate her and give her multiple, delicious orgasms. In return all she had to do was promise not to fall in love with him.
Laylah loves reading, but she particularly loves a good romance with some seriously alpha men. Protective, possessive men with large hearts. Writing has become her passion and she hopes her readers enjoy her stories as much as she does writing them.
This one is my favorite of the series so far. This is pretty much the gold standard scenario that adds tons of the angst which I eat up by the spoonful.
I greatly enjoyed Tara's character :) For most of the time she's precisely the type of person I want to be - caring and dedicated to the people she loves. At the same time her flaws are very similar to mine and when I read this I could see the parallels and it made me realize that, just like Tara, I'm doing real damage to myself by trying to bend backwards to accommodate others in pursuit of independence. I want to be a strong, independent person and like Tara I sometimes end up in situations that are hazardous to my health and life. She managed to learn to lean on others and I hope I'll be able to do the same.
Alex on the other hand annoyed me a lot. Men like him are the personification of "toxic masculinity" and while he is generally a good person he has let one bad relationship, one rotten woman, poison him for all. Being cautious is okay, being a prejudiced jerk that jumps the gun in most situations isn't. I liked that Tara called him on his bullshit most of the times. Still there are a lot of things I liked about him which made this an enjoyable read.
Like the rest of the books of this series I've read For the Love of Sir requires another round of editing - the grammar are spelling errors are really getting on my nerves. They make it hard to enjoy the book as they make it hard to stay focused on the story.
I really liked the books in this series that I have read so far, but this one really bugs me. Tara was to insecure and Alex was an jerk really throughout the entire book with glimpses of being decent. The way the men spoke to the main character in this book just rubbed me wrong throughout. Also, I really disliked the Sloan character who has seemed like a jerk every time he appears in these books so far.
Like many women, Tara puts her compassion and care for others ahead of her care for herself. The one time she goes after what she wants and asks out Alex, she gets rejected. Not because he doesn't like her, but because he's unable to trust any woman after his ex cheated on him. Since this is a romance novel, they come together in a BDSM only relationship (no actual feelings, as Alex wanted), but they fall in love anyway, and realize they're meant to be together.
This is a good novel, but formulaic in places and overall, just a standard romance novel. It's not bad, but there's nothing terribly unique or special about it.
Alex is rich, has been cheated on by his (now) ex-wife, lacks emotional sensitivity and seems to fancy Tara. His character doesn't get more depth than that. Don't know how he was accepted as a Dom at club Decadence. As a Dom, he should be able to do more than treat everybody like shit. Of course, Tara is used to being treated like shit by her ass-hole boss, who may be even worse than her dad. In the end, as Tara has played her role as a doormat that still feels responsible to take care of everybody else, Alex gets her to marry him and ends her financial worries legitimately. I was not impressed.
Tara doesn’t let people in and is used to taking all the responsibility for everyone, when Alex rejects her she decides that it’s time to let go of the thought of him. Although Alex denies that there something between him and Tara, everyone else sees it, when Alex is forced to deal with those feelings, what his ex-wife did him makes him never want to be in that position again, so he offers Tara a contract with no feelings involved. Tara loves the way Alex makes her feel and allows her to let go of all her problems, but when Tara realises that Alex doesn’t have any true feelings for her and she’s broken the contract, by having feelings for Alex, she leaves knowing he can never give her what she wants, and pleasure isn’t enough for her. After Alex is confronted about hurting Tara at the club, and that he should either love her or let her go and tear up the contract, he wonders if it can be that simple, but when he goes to find Tara she’s gone. Alex realises that Tara will never be like his ex-wife but wonders if he’s too late.
No plot spoilers No potential triggers There are a lot of grammatical and editorial errors that irritated but didn't kill the book. The characterisation is good with individual personalities that allow you to form a connection and the plotline is engaging enough to keep you turning the pages. It's a bit of an escape from reality for a few hours, the sex is BDSM with the usual plot devices for the genre.
This is the fourth and last book I will read by this author. The plots were identical in all four books—rich guys rescue and fall for girls who are basically on the street. This boring formulaic approach to writing is scant cover for someone who can’t think of anything original and cannot write beyond the third grade level.
Laylah Robert's books always deserve five stars for me because not only are they HOT, HOT, HOT but they have some mystery and danger where the dom gets to get all alpha with the rules and punishments and sex. It keeps me turning the pages. On to the next book in this series. Keep up with your writing style you are extremely talented.
I really enjoyed this BDSM love story 🖤 It was sweet how they both had experience in living the lifestyle but nothing of a romantic nature. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in an idea of what the LS looks like in different dynamics (I.e: romantic d/s, friendships, non-romantic d/s, “one night scenes”, etc..)
Tara is a beautiful, sweet, kind, selfless girl who helps everyone but herself. Alex is a good man, handsome, hardworking, rich, Dom, but also insecure, distrustful and vulnerable because of his past relationship . Will he be able to actually open up to Tara and give them both a chance at happiness, or will his fear take over turning him into a bitter man?!
This is s great story. I loved the twists and turns that kept it interesting. Tilly and Dylan are a great pair. Ms. Roberts does a great job of developing her characters so that the reader falls in love with them.
I like to learn about different people who go through life situations without it being glossed over. These stories explain a lifestyle that I have never experienced.
Love the way the this one goes, it seems more like it was all ups without a lot of drama. Nice break, no drama and suspicion, big break up and reunite, just feel good with life involved.
Alex and Tara have both been hurt in the past. I love how lake weaves their story of healing through friends and family. Mistakes are made, miscommunication happens, but the grow from the lessons learn. Brilliant
Loving Laylah Roberts so much!!! Tara and Alex have some steamy chemistry but can’t seem to connect. But sometimes just trying new things can be the start of something so much more.
1.5* for the good dialogue but not fond of the characters: meek Tara and her victim personality, and the angry, punishing jerk Alex. The plot is paper-thin; easy to figure out once Tara is mugged. Very melodramatic. Not as good as #1 or #2.
I found this story kept me interested the entire way though. Toward the end, I got to meet Tara's brother. I am curious if the next book will talk about him?
