Hell On Heels is the first book in Victoria Vane’s new Hotel Rodeo series. Of course it was a MUST read for me and I enjoyed every moment. This was an easy to read book that kept me interested and the pages turning.

This story is about Ty Morgan, a cowboy who ran and was part owner in a Vegas Hotel called Hotel Rodeo. Things have been going downhill for his hotel. He needs a renovation badly to keep the hotel running. He meets his partner Tom Brandt who also happens to be a father figure to Ty and asks him if he could give him a loan to renovate their hotel. Things go well and Tom agrees to give Ty the money but shortly after their meeting, Tom has a serious stroke that paralyses him and leaving him without speech. In walks Monica, Tom’s daughter. She has power of attorney over all Tom’s assets. Ty and Monica had never met and when they first come across each other, Monica does not trust him and assumes Ty is just out to get Tom’s money.

These two went round and round with each other. The banter between them was fun to read and it ratcheted the sexual tension to a very high level.

My favorite character of this read was Ty. He was absolutely delicious! He is a no strings attached kinda guy and we do find out just why he is that way. He is a SEXY smooth talking cowboy that KNOWS his way around giving woman pleasure.

Monica the heroine was a good character too. She is a VERY smart business woman who is trying hard to make it on her own. When she hears about her father having a stroke, she packs up and leaves her dream job to race to his side. Of course her fiancé has a few things to say about her running out and she ends up breaking off with him before she leaves.

The sexual attraction between Ty and Monica sizzles and it’s not long before the end up in bed. Afterwards they both struggle with their feelings neither one wanting to admit that something more is happening between them.

Near the end, once again Monica takes something the wrong way. She gets angry and decides it’s time for her to leave Vegas and return to her own life. This is the part where something tragic happens and then WHAM the book ends leaving me yelling NO! NO! NO! I had no idea this was a two part story and now I’m going crazy with wanting to know just what will happen next. I HATE that I have to wait for the next book Two to Wrangle which should be released in February 2016but waiting is what I’ll just have to do.

This is book #1 in my upcoming Hotel Rode Series from Kensington (January 2016)

Excerpt:

Ty Morgan jammed the elevator button three times with his thumb, and then noticing he was alone, gave the steel door a solid kick with his boot. And then another just for good measure, curses flowing in a steady stream. He didn't normally have such a short fuse, but he was so pissed he was seeing red. When Tom Brandt suddenly retired, he knew there'd be changes, but this was just too damned much! The new boss was both clueless and color blind—to anything but red and black.
Sure the place wasn't doing as well as expected, but all of Vegas was still feeling the pain of economic recession. These things didn't fix themselves overnight. The timing of everything had sucked, but with so much skin in the game, he and Tom would both lose their asses if they didn't let it ride. Tom had understood that—even though he'd had the most at risk. But now Tom was out of the picture and his choice of replacement didn't know her ass from a hole in the wall.
***
A dull throb had begun behind her eyes, no doubt a lingering side-effect of four sleepless nights camped outside the CCU at Desert Springs Medical Center. Monica snatched her Prada purse from the desk drawer and rummaged around for an elusive bottle of Excedrin in desperation to ward off an imminent migraine. The neurologist had finally declared Tom out of danger, but he faced permanent impairment and months of rehabilitation. So now here she was, a hot shot investment banker one day, and the next, the new CEO of a floundering Las Vegas hotel and casino—catering to hicks!
She finally found the Excedrin, popped four, chased with the tepid dregs of a Starbucks triple espresso. She'd made the switch from lattes as a substitute for sleep, but didn't really need the caffeine. She was already wired for an ugly confrontation. Monica flicked a glance at her diamond bezel Tag Aquaracer—her last birthday present to herself—well-deserved indulgence. He was fifteen minutes late. Increasingly restless she uncrossed her legs and then crossed them again, sounding her impatience in the solo staccato tap of a Jimmy Choo heel. The shoes, bag, and watch were all well recognized power statements in New York, not that he'd know the difference.
Monica snatched up her phone, was about to hit redial, then threw it back down again. She inhaled, counted to ten, and then exhaled with a huff of exasperation. Was this just some passive aggressive strategy to unsettle her? Maybe. But then again, she was probably giving Ty Morgan too much credit—the dumb cowboy probably didn't know how to tell time.

Overall a 3.5 star read.

I have read and enjoyed several books by this author in the past but they were all HR, so I was curious to see what she would do with a contemporary book. I wasn't disappointed.

Definitely a case of opposites attract, cowboy meets hard-headed businesswoman or oil meets water as one of the character's observed and it was a bit hard to imagine them ever getting together in the beginning.

At first, I really didn't like Monica or Ty and it speaks to this author's talent that I came to like both characters more as the reasons behind their behaviour was revealed. The sexual chemistry between Monica and Ty is off the charts and made for some great reading but I have to say, by the end of the book, I still had more questions than answers. I will definitely read the next instalment because I'm very interested in seeing how these two are ever going to get it together.

Well, I finally got the Oklahoma Cowboy that VV promised a couple of years ago she was going to put in a book for me... :)

Talk about two people at odds with each other. Ty Morgan is partners with Tom Brandt in the aging Hotel Rodeo in Las Vegas. Ty has just gotten Tom to agree to renovating the hotel when his partner has a stroke. Now Ty has to deal with his partner's daughter Monica; and the sailing is not so smooth. Where Ty wants to restore the hotel, Monica is determined to sell it.

'Hell on Heels' is a really good story, with enjoyable leads. Ty is a very likable character; but Monica takes some getting used to. She's smart, but a little high maintenance and snooty. The stinging barbs and double entendres she and Ty sling at each are priceless, however. I held off starting this book until I had the second part of this story in my my hands. This doesn't end in a cliffhanger per se; but book two is the second part of the story. Hopefully this will be where the renovation of the new and improved Hotel Rodeo takes place. On to Two To Wrangle!!

"Hell on Heels" by Victoria Vane

My Thoughts....

Well, this was one of those read that had me shaking my head trying to truly understand the reasoning behind the two man characters...Ty and Monica. Her father and his best bud was sick [who suffered a stroke] and from that should have had them showing more compassion not only to each other but most definitely to the sick father and friend. I really didn't see hardly any connection with these two characters other than their sex appeal to each other. Monica had been been asked by her father to come and help his closest friend Ty to come and help renovate a hotel but it seems all she had on her mind was to sell. Now just why was that? I will say I had trouble liking either one of these two characters and then how this story ended was simply so heart breaking for me. Oh well, I guess we will have to wait and get the next series...of the Hotel Rodeo in 'Two to Wrangle' to get the next part of this story.

I've got to admit that I was slightly lost when I started this book. The beginning is rather fast paced and although I like that in a book, it felt a bit like I'd been thrown in at the deep end.

However, the pieces soon began to fall into place and I immediately liked Ty, with his old fashioned manners and chivalry, all wrapped up in a bit of a player.
Try's not a man-whore but he's definitely not looking for long term either. He has his sights set on his baby...his project.
The problem is that Monica is determined to get in his way. She doesn't trust him and immediately assumes he's an uneducated hick. To be honest, I thought she was a bit of a b*tch!

The story moves along quickly and there are some unanswered questions when it comes to an abrupt halt. Of course, this is book #1 in the Hotel Rodeo series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'll be eagerly awaiting book #2, Two To Wrangle.

Tighten that cinch and settle carefully into that saddle because this is going to be one wild ride. Vegas, rodeo, ball-busting city gal, independent sexy cowboy, business with a whole lot of hot pleasure greets the reader in this latest series opener by an author I have enjoyed for some time. I eagerly picked this one up hoping for a fiery opposites attract romance. It was that and more.

The story opens with Ty Morgan sitting down with his old friend and business partner to discuss the future of Hotel Rodeo. Ty wants to go a fresh, new direction, but he needs capital for that. No sooner does Tom agree than Tom has a stroke and Ty is stuck dealing with Tom's estranged ice-cold hardnosed business savvy daughter who sees Ty as the reason for her father's collapse and the guy who is taking advantage of him. Sparks fly and they go head to head, but in the end, he can't deny the attraction or feelings of respect for Monica Brandt.

Monica is a Manhattan businesswoman and has finally reached the place she wants with the prize of NYC bachelors for her fiance' and boss. But one call from Vegas, puts it all in a tailspin. Nate makes ugly statements and demands when she needs to get to her father's side so she walks away not sure of what will happen on her return. Tom might not have been in her life for the first eighteen years, but he is the only one who ever wanted her so she will be there for him now. That's why this casual cowboy who seems to want Tom's money to finance his loser of a hotel deal will be kicked to the curb the first chance she gets. But then as she settles in, Monica realizes she might have made a grave mistake about Ty. Not only is he genuine and genuinely concerned, but she is fighting hard not to fall for him. She needs to sell the hotel and get out.

So, this book was explosive from the beginning. Monica comes in guns blazing and preconceived notions strong and both Ty and Monica have some deep past hurts so while it's amusing to watch them tangle; there is some deeper stuff going on, too. The story slowly builds their backstories as they get to know each other. Ty is a no-commitment guy who needs his independence and slowly Monica learns why. Just as Monica has to have control and particularly over her emotions which Ty figures out better than anyone else ever has.

They have good chemistry and they have a few sizzling scenes, but this story set things up for some real conflict in their personal lives and their business together as they seem to want and need very different things. With two exes circling, the situation of the hotel in doubt, Tom's health, and their own backstories, this was shaping up for a huge storm of events.

And that was where this segment of the story ended. Yep, full-stop. Wasn't expecting that. So fair warning this will be one that doesn't stand alone. I didn't do any research on this series so I was caught with my britches down, but now the rest of you know. These are an engaging pair and I am very caught up in their story so I do plan to proceed ahead with part two as soon as I can.

I recommend this to those who enjoy western contemporary romances with some fireworks and those who flat out enjoy a good city girl/country guy romance.

My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Hell on Heels (Hotel Rodeo #1): Hell on Heels is part one of Ty Morgan and Monica Brandt's story. It introduces us to these two polar opposite people, one is city and one is country (let the games begin lol), who share one commonality ... Tom, Monica's father and Ty's mentor and business partner. When the two meet, it's nothing but butting heads LOL but fear not, you know what they say about opposites :)
NOTE: Be prepared ... sad cliffhanger ahead :( (but not surprising....)

Two To Wrangle (Hotel Rodeo #2): Two to Wrangle picks up right where Hell on Heels left off so I cannot emphasize enough that you must read it first!
Through tragedy and sadness and a common goal, Ty and Monica begin to use their chemistry and spark in a positive way! There's more drama than necessary thrown into this, in my opinion, but it doesn't really deter from the overall satisfying story. I'm not gonna lie and tell you that These two were exciting every step of the way and that I didn't struggle at times with the back and forth and back and forth (ugh) but because the story was short, it made it possible for me to enjoy it even with all the #twichy lol Aaannnnd we get our HEA for Ty and Monica #win

Beauty and the Bull Rider (Hotel Rodeo #3): This is a new (sorta) story to the trilogy (sorta) LOL It's the story of Delany McCall. Now, if you read the series from the beginning, or even just Two to Wrangle, then you know Delany is Ty's ex-wife and the reason she came looking for him in Vegas. Cue, our very sexy bull-rider, Zac McDaniel, Ty's best friend who's secretly had a thing for Delany since day one! (seriously, it's like a daytime soap opera up in this trilogy lol). I really loved their story. It had sentimentality and humor and spark. It was an all around fell good story where everyone wins in the end.

I have to say, I wasn't too impressed when I started this series, but it grew on my very quickly. It turned out to be quite entertaining as a whole but I wouldn't recommend reading any of the stories on their own. They're all connected and need to be read in order in order to enjoy the series.

Classic Opposites attract story , Monica is a successful business women, starchy and uptight she is engaged and working for a realestate mogul but she is brought to Las Vegas when her father Tom has a severe stroke.
Monica may not have come to know her father until she was an adult , but her love for him is not lacking, she drops everything including the creepy fiancé to be at her father's side. Monica arrives in Vegas and is prepared to do anything and everything she can for her father, when she arrives at the hospital she is surprised to find. Ty Morgan there asking her about Tom condition, because the sight if Ty stirs some feelings inside her, feelings she is definitely not used to. Taking over control of her father's business and health care utmost on her mind means having to deal with Ty since this business include Hotel Rodeo which Tom owns with Ty Morgan . However Hotel Rodeo is failing and she believes they need to sell the property off whil they can still get top dollar. If she was not already at odds with Ty; that decision firmly plants her on his bad side; Ty wants to redesign the hotel which was why Tom had come to Vegas, to discuss putting more money into the hotel He had his stroke right after their meeting., that little fact has. Monica wondering just how stressful the meeting was.
These two really do not have much in common other than their love for Tom, he is country, she is city girl, he is non committal , she is all for commitment.
To spite it all , you find yourself rooting for these two right up to the cliffhanger ending, be prepared it is pretty sad, guess we will have to wait on book two in the Hotel Rodeo series to see if these two can come to terms with what they feel.

Hell on Heels was a good read.
I found the storyline enjoyable and it held my interest from start to end.

Hell on Heels is part one of Ty and Monica's story. We are introduced to these very different people who find themselves connected to Tom, Monica's father and Ty's mentor.
When Tom suffers a debilitating stroke Monica drops everything and travels to Las Vegas to look after her father and take care of his estate.
Ty & Monica will have to work together to look after Tom's Hotel, and as these two butt heads all the time the insults and banter made it fun to read.
Now I'm going to be honest and say while I enjoyed this book I found myself struggling to connect with Ty. He annoyed me with some of the things he says & thinks. This lead me to sympathise with Monica a lot of the time.

Having said that, it didn't stop me from quickly picking up the next book Two To Wrangle (release date - Feb, 16th) to find out how were they ever going to get to their HEA :)

When Monica´s dad suffers a stroke, she´s got no trouble leaving her life in New York to help with his business in Las Vegas. She had no idea it came with an exasperating partner who pushes all her buttons, though. Including her lust buttons.
Ty finally got his partner to agree to renovations when disaster strikes and he now faces the obstacle of Monica. She´s not interested in anything but selling, and Ty won´t let her.
Opposites do attract, but can there be anything more from this?
Contemporary romance and smutty fluff. Ends in a cliffhanger.
I had a hard time connecting with the couple, so that´s why I give it a 3 star rating, just me and my quirks. Sorry!

This was a great read. When Monica's father has a stroke she comes face to face with someone who captivates her as much as he irritates her. Her fathers business partner and someone he has known since he was a young boy.

Ty is scared, the only man who he has ever cared about, the father figure in his life has had a stroke and thrown Ty's life into a tailspin, when he meets Monica for the first time, first impressions are less than impressionable.

But the sparks quickly fly between these two. But both are stubborn and from different worlds, can these two total opposites make it work? Do they want it to work? You have to read on to find out, and I highly suggest you do, this was my first read by this author and I'm hooked.

Hell on Heels written by: Victoria Vane This story is a complex of emotions. Ty Morgan is a cowboy who was burned by his first marriage and was not going there again. He sealed up his heart and only had one night stands never bringing any of them back to his home. His ex-wife got half of his family farm during the divorce and he believes she stays there out of spite. So Ty is reluctant to just give his heat away seeing how it worked out the last time. Tom Brandt stepped in when Ty’s dad was killed by a bull and raised him. Tom never knew about his daughter till ten years ago. Monica Brandt was raised by a nanny her mother hired because she did not have time to be bothered by a baby. Her nanny raised her till she was 5 and sent her to boarding school. Monica felt she never belonged and so desperately wanted to be loved just for her. So she graduated and went to work on Wall street in New York. She started to feel her life was out of control and the man she was engaged to did not love her the way she wanted to be loved. Ty called her to let her know her father had a stroke and she was on the first plane out. Upon arriving her thoughts of Ty was he was out to milk her father out of his money. They argue over everything about the hotel. Monica wants to sell it and Ty wants to rebuild it and its what Tom signed off on. Monica told him his choices were to sell, buy her out, or come up with funding to buy her out and rebuild. So Ty called on his ex-wife to see if she knew anyone who would be interested in. Monica has already fell into bed with Ty being the best night of her life. But she is like hot and cold water she flakes when they get too close. Monica is the one who wants more than a one-night stand but realizes that will never happen with Ty. She knew Evan didn’t love her but he was committed to her. Is that what she wanted, just to be secure without love in her life, she didn’t know. All she knew at the moment was Ty was not interested in anything permanent he made that abundantly clear. She feels like he sees through her and she wants to always be in control of everything. “Two heard headed people with different backgrounds and different ideas who stubbornly stand their ground till the other folds, is nothing but explosive and entertaining.”

Received in exchange for a honest review.

All but the issue with Tom which is so sad this book is highly entertaining. The zingers that Ty and Monica throw at each other are wonderful. the story is nicely paced and doesn’t give to much background but just enough for you to understand the characters and why they are how they are. Monica needs control and runs when someone pushes that. Ty is afraid of commitment due to his ex wife and what she did.

Ty wants the hotel to be reinvigorated. The hotel has been his lifeline. kept him from going down a very dark path. Now it is losing money and needs to be changed. He has some great ideas and had the backing. Until Tom had a medical issue halt plans. Tom has always been a father to Ty. He kept him from losing himself to alcohol. Helped keep him out of trouble and showed him love and kindness. Sad to see the vibrant man lose his spunk. Unfortunately for Ty this brings in tom’s daughter Monica. the uber control freak from Wall Street. She starts off by misconstruing Ty’s relationship with Tom and it goes downhill from there. The sexual tension between them through the roof. The attraction between them off the charts. the ability to drive each other up a wall is just as strong. Monica wants to sell the hotel and gives Ty a deadline.

the story is about Ty finding a backer, Monica figuring out what she wants and Ty and Monica’s relationship. Both are afraid to commit but feel strongly towards each other. the characters and secondary characters are fun and more complex than meets the eye. Each contributes to the story and revealing more about Ty and who he really is.

the story itself is fun and entertaining. Every time these two are in a room it is tension galore. Whether sexual, frustration with each other or both it is palpable. the writing is engaging as well.

this is the fun story of Monica and ty. How they butt heads and have a serious attraction to one another. Also how they slowly find out more about one another. It has snarky comments, sexual tension, steamy moments, sweet moments, romantic moments and revealing moments. there isn’t a time you won’t be engaged in learning more about them and what will happen next. Ty will have you smile with how kind he is and how quiet he is about his good deeds. He is a overall sweet guy. Monica comes off at first as a judgmental snob but she does redeem herself as you get to know her.

Hell on Heels is the first book in the adult contemporary romance series, Hotel Rodeo by Victoria Vane. It is the story of two bull headed, stubborn individuals named Monica and Ty. Right from the start, I knew this was going to be a back and forth battle between the two of them. And I was right-it sure is a fiery story. This series is a bit of an interesting setup. Books 1 and 2 are both about Ty and Monica, so there is a cliff-hanger at the end of this one. And then, book 3 is about another couple. (I am unsure if their story is going to be a one or two book deal.) But Hell on Heels is a fun read that is very quick. You could easily read books 1 and 2 in one day if you wanted to wrap up Monica and Ty's story. I kind of wish I had book 2 on hand, so I could do just that.

Hell on Heels deals with a Las Vegas hotel that is either going to be revitalized or sold. And I bet you can guess that Monica and Ty come up on opposite sides of this decision. I really enjoyed the bickering/bantering and full out fighting between Monica and Ty. It was a fun read, and I think I would like to continue on to book 2, but I honestly don't know if I would continue on to book3. I am interested to finish out Ty's story with Monica, but I can't stand Delaney (Ty's ex wife) so I am not to keen on reading her story.

Bottom line: Hell on Heels is a fun and fiery read between two people with very dominant personalities. If you like the clashing on alphas, this is the book for you. Ty and Monica are both used to being in charge, and that was interesting to watch play out. I liked this book, but I didn't love it. No real reason why. It is well written, has good characters and has an interesting plot. it just didn't jump out at me while I was reading it.

#1 in the new and exciting "Hotel Rodeo" series. A new Contemporary Romance by an author who has proven she can write across genre.
"Hell on Heels" is a fast paced, quick read. A tug of war between a feisty, Investment heroine and a sexy, Cowboy turned Hotel partner, Ty, with ideas to turn this hotel around. Enter, the boss' sexy, opinionated daughter, Monica, who has her own plans.
Sparks fly between the two, from the beginning, but will it be enough to begin a romantic relationship? Can Ty and Monica make their budding romance work? Will they grab life and hold onto what they have found or let love slip away? A sexy, Romantic, and passionate story where the characters are engaging, opinionated, stubborn, and passionate. The storyline is unique, interesting and the sensual moments are tactfully done. This story is intense, emotional and powerful. While, not a cliffhanger, it does leave some unanswered questions. I strongly recommend! Be warned... it is a sexy story.
I can't lie, I have enjoyed everything Ms. Vane has written thus far, whether, Contemporary or Historical. She is a powerful and talented storyteller. A must read for Contemporary Romance fans, and fans of sexy Cowboys and feisty heroines who know their own minds. Can't wait for the next installment.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the first in the series and introduces us to a number of characters who will feature in future books. It does not however overdo the scene building, just naturally introducing them as they enter the story. We learn the background in a natural and well timed way. Based on the blurb, I was looking forward to reading a story which brings together a rodeo star and city based career woman in a hotel based romance. In fact it is even better than I expected, as the connections and relationships which underpin the story add depth and interest to the story.

From the very beginning of the relationship we are treated to some wonderful misunderstandings and confusion. As we see the story from both sides, we get a good insight into why they behave as they do, and can only wish them well. Some of the touches, like the sunrise, are super romantic, and the chemistry is definitely present, even if they are working hard to deny it.

Make sure that you have book 2 to hand, as you will want to read straight on to find out what happens next.

My Rating:

3.5

Favorite Quotes:

“She wouldn’t be hard on the eyes if she didn’t always look like she’d been sucking lemons.”

“Looking out of the expanse of the desert, she almost forgot to breathe. The first rays of dawn had begun to spread fingers of light toward the distant horizon, slowly dispersing the lingering shadows.”

My Review:

I find I am struggling to care for the main character of Monica – I find her annoying. The story is rife with conflict between the two main characters, which is not one of my favorite tropes, and the vast majority of the problem is Monica – hence my frustration with her. She has been rude, arrogant, condescending and demanding, so I am finding her more than a bit hard to swallow at this point. I know it is just the first installment but I was expecting a romance, and there really hasn’t been one so far, but I am ever hopeful as I ease into the second installment.

If you enjoy a contemporary romance featuring a feisty banker investment heroine and an alpha cowboy turned Vegas hotel owner, you might want to take Hell on Wheels for a literary spin. Ms. Vane did a good job of keeping this tug of war, work and personal relationship romantic tale focused on the main couple and not with an overly done cowboy theme. Some authors simply try too hard to combine these two elements and the end result often isn’t pretty. Folks, I’m happy to report that was not the case here. There were no “yee-haws” or over the top cowboy banter/characters.

What you will find is Monica, who is looking for love in all the safe places…a committed relationship with someone with similar interests/background. She is not a casual fling kind of girl. She had high hopes Evan, her six month fiance, was just that until a stunt he pulls when she needs to use his jet to fly from NY to Vegas, after being told her dad has suffered a stroke. Well, off goes her 5 caret engagement ring and off she goes to take care of the caring, father she never got to meet until she was 18.

You will also find Ty, the emotionally adopted son and business partner of Monica’s dad. He’s a former briefly married/rancher/bullrider/bullfighter turned part hotel owner. Honestly, I didn’t quite get the difference between Spanish and US bullfighting. Except, of course, in the US version the goal is for man and beast not to be harmed. Granted that’s most likely on me, because I probably skimmed over it, as that aspect doesn’t interest me. Anyway, Ty is definitely not looking for his soul mate. He openly admits to his casual flings he won’t be roped into marriage ever again.

Well, if I wore a cowboy hat, there were a couple of times I think I would have removed it, bowed my head, and placed it over my heart, and shake my head in shame over these two characters. Monica walked away from Ty three times when things got very heated, because she was smart enough to realize he wasn’t a forever kind of guy. I found myself applauding her self-respect. Then she gave in and is crushed when he openly tells her not to read more into what just happened than something casual. Ty, you idiot. You did that, but it wasn’t long afterwards you tried to convince her she should stay with you instead of going back to Evan. Of course, she isn’t going to believe you. After all, you briefly contemplated using Cassie to help get over Monica’s rejection. At least, you didn’t take your ex-wife, Delaney, up on her manipulative, selfish, twisted offer.

Speaking of Delaney, I don’t see how/why she got half of Ty’s grandfather’s ranch when they divorced. They were married briefly, and it was Ty’s before they got hitched. I thought most states only recognized communal property that is acquired after marriage. It really bothered me she held onto her half even though she came from a family as rich as Croesus. Book 3 is going to be based on her and Zac, Ty’s best friend. I’m on the fence as to if I want that cowgirl to ride off into the sunset with anyone.

To wrap this up, this story ends in a cliffhanger, so you will immediately need to read Book 2 to witness this couple’s HEA. I actually read both books back-to-back in one sitting. Personally, I think it should have been published as one book. At least the author did choose a pivot point to end it and an emotional moment to begin the next one.

Title: Hell on Wheels, Series: Hotel Rodeo (Book 1), Author: Victoria Vane, very short read, part of a series, cliffhanger, not a stand-alone, steamy scenes, strong heroine.

Book 1 – Hell on Wheels (Ty and Monica), 1/19/16
Book 2 – Two to Wrangle (Ty and Monica), 2/16/16, Pages: 144
Book 3 - Beauty and The Bullrider (Delaney and Zac)…Delaney is Ty’s ex-wife, Zac is his best friend, 3/15/16

Review can be read at It's About The Book

This crazy story is edgy, funny, and hard to ignore. Set against the backdrop of Las Vegas, it’s as bright and shiny and as risky as that city is, with a plot that pushes the limits and characters that are a lot too big for life. But you know what? They work in this book, and by the end I was shocked at the cliffhanger and totally befuddled as to what would happen next. Take that!

Ty Morgan is trying to rebuild the hotel he’s been managing the last seven years along with his business partner and friend Tom Brandt. Ty’s father, Wild Will Morgan, had formed Brandt Morgan Entertainment with Tom when they were in the rodeo business years ago. After Will’s death at the hands of a Mexican fighting bull, Ty had been a silent partner until seven years earlier, when he’d nearly destroyed himself, and Tom had dragged him to Vegas to run Hotel Rodeo. Now, the hotel that had saved his life needed a new life of its own, and Ty needs Tom’s money to do it.

But is Tom going to agree?

Before the contracts can be signed, though, Tom has a stroke and is Monica Brandt, adopted daughter of Tom. Who’s not sure about Ty’s motives and suspects he’s trying to sham Tom out of a lot of money. Great start to a relationship, right? He thinks she’s a bitch and she thinks he’s a con artist.

Monica’s running from both her ex-fiance Evan and her job at his investment firm, Hirschfield & Davis. Her suspicions about Ty are vying against her incredible attraction to him. Everywhere she looks she sees signs that he’s not the crook she thinks. Can she let herself fall for him? Before she can decide, Evan shows up in Vegas determined to win her back. Between his shenanigans, Ty’s jealousy, and her father’s illness, she’s having a hard time with everything!

I liked a lot of this book and even though there were some glitches, overall it was pretty compelling and kept my attention from the start. Read it if you enjoy engaging stories with a lot of heat and flash! Thanks.

Victoria Vane is a new-to-me author and I enjoyed that this story that was partially based in Oklahoma, my home state.

Ty Morgan was so well described I could envision the Stetson on his head and driving his F350 diesel truck. The story starts where he meets his long-time friend and father figure, Tom Brandt to discuss the Hotel Rodeo in Las Vegas and needed renovations. Many years ago the national bull riding championships moved from OK to Las Vegas, so Tom and Ty’s dad, bought the Hotel Rodeo and surrounding land for stockyards.

Tom spent time in Las Vegas and in Oklahoma on his ranch, which was also close to Ty’s ranch.
I loved Tom and even with three marriages, he didn’t know he had a child until his daughter turned 18. He spent as much time as possible visiting Monica in New York over the next ten years and was proud of her investment banking expertise. Monica grew up raised by nannies and then sent to boarding schools, so she didn’t know what a loving family could be, which colored the way she thought and acted as an adult.

Her fiancé Evan Davis is an arrogant, selfish, self-centered man that manages the investment firm where they both work. When Monica has an emergency, I was just stunned at how he acted wanting her to wait a couple of days before leaving, threatening her job and apartment. Every time he spoke, I wanted to whack him in the head!

When Monica meets Ty, she immediately draws conclusions about him and they get off to a rocky start. But there is also chemistry between them and it is fun to watch as they move forward and pull back in the story. Tom has put Monica in charge of his affairs and after looking at the hotel financials, she believes that it should be sold, not renovated.

The story was a quick, fun read and left me anxious to read the second book, Two to Wrangle, to see what comes next with Ty and Monica.

description

When city and country meet, the sparks fly…

When Ty Morgan and Monica Brandt meet there is more going on than a simple clash between ‘city’ and ‘country’. They have a shared interest in Brandt industries and family, but given their very different backgrounds, and history, they are not finding a lot of common ground. If they can’t come to an understanding personally how will they ever be on the same page with business?

Monica comes off as a bit cool and icy but she knows her way around a financial statement and a boardroom of business types. Ty knows how to take a bull by the horns, literally, and attacks business problems in the same way. They clearly have very different approaches to hotel business and life. With serious trust issues on both sides the antagonism they show for each other is understandable and provides all the conflict they can handle in this story about family and business and how messy that mix can be.

I liked Monica once cracks in her outer shell started appearing. She cared more than she let on though her business demeanor and need for control seemed never far away. Ty, on the other hand, was more open and never shy to let Monica know where he stood on issues related to the hotel or their hearts. The physical attraction they felt for each other was clear, if the heat level was anything to go by, but their issues seemed to follow them everywhere they went, including the bedroom….

What was she really and what did she really want? Was it a real estate mogul with an expensive penthouse apartment in lower Manhattan, or a swaggering cowboy and his rundown hotel on the garishly lit Las Vegas Strip?

It’s complicated and these two did not resolve anything yet… Ending in a devastating cliffhanger I really need to know if these two can sort things out…

Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington publishing Lyrical Shine for my ARC

Hell on Heels is story of two very opposite people getting to work together.
Ty Morgan manages hotel Rodeo in Vegas with his partner Tom Brandt. Hotel is in really bad shape and Ty wanted to renovate the hotel with Tom's investment. But Tom had a sudden stroke everything is up in the air.
Then Monica, Tom's daughter comes from stuffy New York Investment firm to take over Tom's affairs. She is to use to dealing with number not with personalities. Both did not have very good first impressions of each other. Monica thought Ty was living off of Tom's wealth and Ty thought she was rude and "Hell on Heels".
Both had to work together one way or another while Tom was in hospital. Monica wanted to sell the hotel and Ty wanted to renovate and revamp the hotel. However, sparks were flying every time they are faced with each other.
Both were depending Tom for emotional support. Monica was raised by many nannies and she reconnect with Tom not so long ago. Ty lost his father when he was really young and Tom raised Ty and help Ty when he needed guidance the most.
Both had relationships but Evan wasn't warm nor friendly and Ty had ex-wife Delaney who took over his ranch and both really couldn't stand together... Both had troubled with relationships.
Both never agreed on anything even in bed and they didn't trust each other yet their sparks were off the chart. Both won't give in to each other.
Will they finally see an eye to an eye? This wasn't the end....
I actually enjoy reading this book. It exceed my expectations. Both Monica and Ty are lovable and they were fun to read.
I can't wait to read the next one..

Two strangers, a hotel in financial trouble, misconceptions, poorly explained agendas and a debilitating stroke set the scene for the first in the Hotel Rodeo series. Ty is from Oklahoma, relocated to Las Vegas with a once successful, now in need of upgrades, hotel. Women find him charming and irresistible, fortunate for him as ‘commitment to a relationship’ is not in his vocabulary.

When his friend, partner and mentor/father figure Tom agrees to finance the renovations, things are looking up for Ty, and then Tom has a massive stroke. Racing to her father’s side, Monica has dropped everything to manage her father’s affairs and see to his health.

These two are oil and water, acting on assumptions and first impressions with little or no validation for their conclusions. It was understandable to see Monica’s distrust at first, but Ty’s obvious caring for her father should have allayed those concerns, at least to some degree. But the continued back and forth, the repeated refusal to see what was staring themselves in the face was frustrating and made me want to shake them both. There was chemistry for sure, but the deeper connection that they both fought so hard to ignore had me unable to buy into Ty and Monica as a couple.

And, perhaps they will give me more time to see them together, and fighting the obstacles to their happiness instead of one another, as the story is not yet complete….

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Hell on Heels by Victoria Vane
I received this book from the publisher from NetGalley for an honest review.
What a fun concept that Victoria came up with for this book series……New York Power Suite Investment Banker meets a Rough and Tumble Cowboy. The story begins with Monica opening her eyes to her Fiancé and running to care for her father in Vegas. She leaves her entire world of deceit, lies and manipulation to care for her father. Tom is an old school hand shake deal kind of guy who works with Ty to run a floundering hotel. When Monica steps in to the CEO job she and Ty don’t exactly get along or see eye to eye. She sees the numbers whereas Ty sees the opportunities.
Monica has a lot of abandonment issues which don’t exactly go well with Ty’s mistrust of woman after his ex-wife took him for all he had. The couple clash and then find time to snuggle *wink* but then their issues resurface and they are back on opposite sides of the line. When we think they MIGHT be able to navigate and possibly work things out, miscommunication gets in the way then Monica’s ex comes crawling back and Ty’s inability to open up push…it just pushes them further apart.
The end of the book ends in a CLIFFY and I gotta say I didn’t see it coming and I am gonna run and start my reading of book 2. For those of you reading this review no worries, book 2 releases in a month so you won’t have to wait long to find out what happens to our couple.

In book one of the Hotel Rodeo series, we are introduced to Monica and Ty. Ty has been a partner and practical adopted son of Tom Brandt for a long time. They've got a close relationship and a deep understanding between each other. When Tom gets ill and his daughter comes to take care of him from New York, things couldn't appear worse. The instant chemistry between Monica and Ty is only rivaled by their animosity.

Monica has wanted one thing in her life, to love and be loved for who she is. She's not had the best life ever, froma mother who could care less about her, a father who didn't even know she existed during her formative years, and a recent ex-fiance who she realized, thankfully not to late, was using her in other ways. She's not sure what to do with her life, but for now she wants to take care of her father, and his best interests, even if it means clashing with his business partner, Ty.

Ty has big plans for the hotel he shares with Tom, they've discussed and agreed to renovations and he's looking forward to starting when things are pulled under his feet. Now he's supposed to work with the big City girl, Monica, and he's not so sure that will be possible. He knows all about her type.

Both Ty and Monica make knee-jerk assumptions about the other and that leads to a whole lot of drama, but they also find they can't hardly stay away from teh other. Will they be able to work it out and do what is right for her father and the hotel he loves? Or will it all go to pieces.

Ty manages his hotel in Las Vegas, but with the change in times, it needs updating. His partner, Tom, the man who’s always helped him, is willing to invest the money into the update. When he suddenly has a stroke, his daughter comes to oversee her father’s health and investments. How will Ty be able to convince Monica that her father wants to invest in updating the hotel? She wants to sell the place and get back to her own career. Now the attraction between them seems to be making life a bit more complicated. When they both want their own way, the stakes skyrocket and all bets are off…

Hell on Heels is yet another action packed, sizzling hot, work of art from Ms. Vane! Her stories are always comprehensive and lack nothing. The sexual tension between Ty and Monica was palpable and I couldn’t wait for consummation. When that came (of course, the pun is completely intended!), it was blatant and sizzling hot. Ms. Vane definitely knows how to warm me from the inside out when I read her romances, completely involved in every single word. Ty is quite a scrumptious cowboy who knows just how to please his women. He’s so alive in Hell on Heels, you’ll feel the lovin’ and that’s not only what I want, I’m sure it’s what every romance reader demands…and Ms. Vane will pull through every time! With the sneak peak at the next book in this series, I’ve already been drawn in for more and I can hardly wait! 5 Stars!

Monica Brandt has an MBA from Harvard, Ty Morgan is a former bull rider. What do they have in common? Tom Brandt, Monica’s father, who is a partner along with Ty in the Hotel Rodeo. When Tom has a heart attack, Monica has to rush to her father’s side in order to see to his business; her fiancé Evan, who is also her boss, forbids her to go or else she loses her posh job; well, family comes first. However, when she arrives in Las Vegas, she fails to see why the hotel should be bothered with, while it is Ty’s pride and joy, and he wants to make improvements and see it brought back to its former glory. There is just one little problem, they must work together and they hate each other.

I loved everything about HELL ON HEELS, even though Monica comes off at the beginning as an ice queen, but I had problems with how Ty and Monica first dealt with their animosity, and how super sexy Ty handled the sexually frustrated Monica; it felt forced. But I adore Victoria Vane, her cowboys, her tremendous storytelling skills and her flawless writing. As long as I can get the unfortunate episode out of my head when the second instalment comes around, I’ll be happy, because the Hotel Rodeo series sounds very promising, and Victoria Vane is the author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
