I hate Mason Crest.

That rich, sleazy, arrogant bastard thought I was some sort of cheap prostitute just because I work a minimum-wage job as a waitress instead of attending college or whatever else most nineteen-year-olds apparently do. Yep, you heard that right. He tried to buy me for the night, according to one of my best friends who works with me, and my friends have no reason to lie.

But now everything’s changed. I’ve just discovered that my biological father is a billionaire, and he’s now married to my favorite actress whose son just so happens to be…yep, you guessed it…

Mason.

So now he’s my stepbrother. We have to share a house, but thankfully that house is massive. It should be easy for me to stay out of his way. It should be easy for me to ignore his handsome face, his broad shoulders, his perfect abs…all I have to do is remember that he’s a grade-A prick.

So why can’t I stop thinking about him?

**Warning: This book contains lots of HOT sex, drama, adult language and some violence. If this is not the kind of stuff you like to read, skip this book. Enjoy!**

Firstly, it’s pretty ridiculous to launch into complaints about a book that blatantly announces its sub-genre. If you’re going in for the slight awks of adult step siblings hooking up, you take what you get. Still, I have book grievances, and they must be aired!

19 year old Arizona works in a hospitality service role at the historic local hotel in her small town. She’s working a fundraiser to renovate the hotel when she meets super-hot, super-rich Mason. He’s appearing on behalf of his famous actress mother, and after about 5 minutes chatting about crown moulding he cuts a cheque for a hundred grand and asks Arizona if she’d like to come back to his room for some sex.

She’s disappointed with his super lazy technique and says no. Then later on, her friend Ewan tells her that Mason asked about her sex pricing structures. Arizona is an intact maiden and cranky about the implication that she’s a prostitute. She sees Mason once more and non-specifically yells at him. Mason has no idea what’s up because all he did was give Ewan a note with his phone number and a message that he’d like to catch up some time.

And Ewan lied about the note because, oh whatever.

Then a couple of weeks later, it turns out that she was kidnapped as a baby and her kidnap dad gets arrested and her real dad is a billionaire. He’s also married to Mason’s famous mother, which Arizona discovers when she shows up to her real dad’s mansion.

So there could be a thoughtful examination of the discomfort between Arizona and her real dad as they learn each other and how to start a parent child relationship with an adult. And superficially there is. And Arizona could deal with her conflicted feelings about her kidnap parents, and again, superficially there is.

There’s stupid lazy conflict between Mason and Arizona because she’s all you’re day old snot and he’s all what’s with this unhinged hot person? And then she’s all you know what you did, flounce. Ugh. There’s pranks and dancing in the rain and villainous women and HEA epilogues. Yawn. And the author invents a 19th century President and then later a 1980s Monica Lewinsky to make 2 plot points that are so minor she could have just as easily not.

Then, there’s the time Arizona refers to herself as too stupid to live, and: no. Seriously, is the writer expecting me to smile over her trope usage in the middle of her cliched orgy session?

But ... it could be worse.

I noted quite a bit of grammatical errors. There was a lot of fun on sentences.
Not your typical step brother romance. This story is so scandalous that I couldn't put it down. Arizona was so cool you could just feel a friendship forming as you read. Mason was incredible and very lively. They blend well with each other and the story flowed effortlessly on. The book started out kind of slow and maybe a little unbelievable but it had lots of action and suspense. As the story progressed, the author won me over with her characters that were way more in depth and the twists and turns in the plot. This romance was not just sexy and steamy but was also sweet and endearing. Arizona and Mason's romance is one of the best stepbrother books I have read. There were layers to the story you don't often see.

Not a winner for me.

My main problem with this story was the writing. I am not an author and because I recognize that authors have hard jobs, I don't like to nitpick about writing quality, but at the end of the day, this one just wasn't for me. I had gotten a sample of this book from Amazon before buying it since I wasn't familiar with the author and I thought it had potential. I liked the long-lost family trope on the back cover and that it wasn't the usual college + new step-family = love formula. This was certainly a variation of that, but it wasn't the exact same step-brother story we keep seeing all over the place, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

It started out okay, a little oversimplified, with what should have been a pretty meaty plot about a girl who finds out that she was kidnapped as a baby and is the long-lost heiress to a tech billionaire. Her new stepmother is the darling of Hollywood and her new stepbrother is... well... like you might expect... kind of a douchebag to her at first. There should have been some angstastic fictional awesomeness going on, but it was all pretty... flat... for me. I thought the story might redeem itself from pure smuttiness, since for all of my issues with the writing, the main characters had a decent amount of chemistry, but even then, the smut doesn't start until well into the second half and when it did, was kind of a let-down after the slow burn of the first half.

Stepbrother romances aren't really a booknip of mine, but the taboo doesn't bother me either, so maybe just the lack of excitement about the genre could have had something to do with this. I don't know that I'd warn anyone away from this one because for all my issues, this wasn't a DNF, so I consider that a point in its favor, but I'm also not sure that I, personally, will check out any other books by this author. According to goodreads, two-stars means "It was okay." That's pretty much how I feel about this book. Just okay. I wasn't bored, but it's not one I ever see myself coming back to.

Arizona Keller met Mason Crest once and he left an impression. Waitressing at a fundraising event at the hotel she worked for she thought he was quite the gentleman that is until an offer to spend the night with him with money attached was presented.

Mason doesn't know what happened, one minute the beauty he was talking to was adorable the next she was a snarling kitten. He can't get her out of his mind and when he finds out that Arizona is actually the kidnapped daughter to his stepfather all hell breaks loose. Mason can't help but tease her and get a rise out of her but he wants to know what he did. Arizona is mixed on Mason one moment he is a jerk the next he is so sweet to her she wants to fling herself at him. Not to mention their attraction to one another is off the charts.

Fun read. Mason is quite funny in his need to get attention from Arizona. Had some really funny moments and I liked how the whole story unfolded. Checking out Caitlin Daire's other books.

At first I thought this was going to be a typical stepbrother romance. But right from the start it surprised me by drawing me in and making me want to know what would happen next. At every turn there was a new obstacle to get through for this couple but they were able to make it. Arizona really surprises me throughout the book and how she's able to handle problems and how she doesn't want to change who she is just because of money. But I love most about Mason is that he learns how to love and to conquer his fears. The book is so much more than a romance; it is a mystery and suspenseful and will keep you guessing throughout the novel.

⭐️⭐️ 1 Star ⭐️⭐️

* * * SPOILERS * * *

♦️BOOK: Standalone. Calls itself a novella in the warning but 3562 Kindle location.

♦️POV: Dual, alternating first person.

♦️EDITING: minimal errors - a few missing words

♦️STEAM: Medium, 3.5/5 - a few average sex scenes, unprotected sex, Skype sex

♦️HERO: Mason Crest, 20--Son of one of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses in the nineties. Arrogant, dirty man-whore. Smoker. Dark hair, green eyes, tall, gorgeous...yeah, you know the drill.

♦️HEROINE: Arizona Keller, 19--Hotel waitress. Virgin. Curvy, hazel eyes, long dark hair, golden brown tanned skin. Cinderella-type.
*Arizona's character is absolutely annoying and ridiculous. She was idiotic, immature, not very bright and her jokes and "witty" comments fell extremely flat. Ugh, I was either rolling my eyes at the corny crap that came out of this girl's mouth or cringing with total embarrassment for her.

♦️PLOT: Waiting tables at a hotel, poor-girl Arizona meets the rich and notorious hottie Mason Crest. The wealthy son of a former Hollywood actress, Mason isn't used to rejection. When Ari declines his advances due to a misunderstanding and leaves angry, Mason can't help being intrigued by her...heck, this man-whore can't even get hard for any other female ever again. (Hmm...must be love.) He's sick of the vapid, skinny, plastic girls he's used to and likes that Arizona is "real". A week later our h gets all her poor-girl prayers answered when she finds out she was kidnapped as a newborn, and is actually daughter to a billionaire. A BILLIONAIRE. Arizona drops her old life like a bad habit to meet her new papa, his horrid wife and her son...none other than the jerk himself, Mason Crest.
Then the story proceeds as follows... Boy wants forbidden girl. Girl hates boy and acts bitchy. Boy antagonizes girl. Girl secretly wants boy. They act like a 5 year olds. Make out. Argue. Ignore each other. Misunderstanding cleared up and now they are besties. Arizona wants to lose her V-card, Mason wants her forbidden fruit. Queue the forbidden, sneaking around sex. Mason's nasty bitch of a mother finds out and blackmails him to break it off with Arizona. He leaves for a month. Someone kidnaps Arizona. Mason comes to the rescue. Horrid mother gets what's coming to her. Parents split. Playboy is tamed, Cinderella gets her prince charming. The end.

♦️WHAT DID NOT WORK:
➖the story was clichéd, contrived, banal and unrealistic.
➖the writing was straight up cheesy.
➖the sexual dialogue was cringe-worthy.
➖Arizona's kidnapping story was very far-fetched (as was most of the book). The mother never suspected a thing when the father just showed up with a random baby???
➖H & h are incredibly immature - even for 19 & 20 year olds. All the characters act and sound like middle schoolers. Oh but wait, despite his age and immaturity, Mason is apparently a wine enthusiast and knowledgeably (and illegally) orders it for the two of them in a restaurant. And at 19, with her poor-girl pallet, Arizona is able to detect the subtle hints of candy floss in the wine (okay sure, whatever)

♦️ENDING: HEA. Epilogue - 2 years later, then 6 months later. NO Cliffhanger.

♦️QUOTES:
"What the hell did anyone even need a life coach for? As long as you knew how to breathe, drink water and eat, then you pretty much had living nailed."

Not a bad read at all. Sometimes, with this subject (stepbrother/stepsister) it can be super gross to super hot. Then sometimes there are the stories that land safely in the middle. This is an example of just such a story. The male lead is sexy and cute. The female lead is naive and trusting but funny. The stepmother is a cootie having skank. All in all it was okay.

Beautiful

Arizona Keller it’s a waitress in Wisconsin. She lives with her father who she feels could care less about her.
Mason Crest is the son of a wealthy former actress who lives on the east cost with his step father and mom. He is used to getting his way with the ladies.

They are from very different worlds yet meet by fate when his mother sends him in her place to a fundraiser at the hotel Arizona works at. They can’t deny the chemistry between them however after a misunderstanding Arizona thought she would never see Mason again….

Fate had other plans. As it turns out Arizona is actually the kidnapped daughter of Masons step father!! Suddenly she it’s thrown back into Masons world. Sparks really seemed fly after the truth of the misunderstanding is revealed.

I would definitely recommend.

Mason and Arizona start off on a rocky start due to a miscommunication. Friends can be so cruel.
As you know this is a stepbrother romance, well Arizona has been through a lot as you will find out when you read the story. You know she finds out she has a rich father but don't know the circumstances, well said rich father is married to a famous retired actress who is not very nice.
When Arizona reunites with her father she find Mason is her stepbrother and tension run high and witchfest begins lol.
It's a real entertaining book and when Mason and Arizona become friends it gets better. There is drama, attempted murder, sex, love, hot guy, sexy woman, what more could you ask for?

Mason & Arizona

She was a waitress at a restaurant in Wisconsin and he filling in for his mom at a fundraiser at the same restaurant. After a misunderstanding she thought she would never see him again. That is until she finds out she was kidnapped as a newborn and her biological father is actually Masons stepfather. Really hot and steamy once they discover the truth about the misunderstanding.

Step-Brother romance done so different, so right.

I’ve never read a step brother romance like this one. I have read a few. I mean, I read ... a lot. But I have never read one with a plot like this one. And It was not only intriguing, but also so hot and swoon worthy. I’ve never read this author before, but you can guarantee, I will again.

Lovely read to help me relax after a busy week at work. It did feel like something was missing though and I would've liked to see more spark between Arizona and Mason. However, I'll be checking out what else this author has written

Good read

This is getting a 4 star rating simply because it did a great job of tying off all the loose ends. I thought it was going to be a long drawn out story and plot line, but it wasn’t. Very good read. Would definitely read this author again.

Good book.

I enjoyed this book and the story between Arizona and Mason. It was sweet. The author tried to add some suspense into the story and it helped. Things just seemed a little too fairy-tale like and perfect.

This is not really a review, rather just my random thoughts on the book...

Oooh, that's kind of awkward, being mistake for a prostitute and all, lol! Then again, the thing with her friend (Ewan?) was completely out of the blue... I mean, really?!

Major twist there, with the reveal of Arizona's biological father! Definitely made for an interesting premise, though I wish they'd gone a little further into it. It must be pretty awesome, realized you are now super rich thanks to your real dad, lol... although, I probably wouldn't want it to happen quite how it did- that would be rather traumatizing, I bet.

Mason is an idiot, in more ways than one, but especially for what happened when he found out someone knew about he and Arizona's trysts.

I always knew that Hollywood actors/actresses wouldn't be all they are cracked up to be... then again, when you have to always be "on" for the cameras and get paid millions to basically lie about who you really are, it really shouldn't be so surprising.
